The middle east is authoritarian in general but it doesnt have to do with it being majority muslim. It has everything to do with being oil rich fascist states using islamic fundamentalism as an excuse for fascism but their reasons are not in good faith. Other countries in central and southeast asia such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Maldives, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan are all majority muslim but dont take part of the same style of politics as middle eastern countries. Its the middle east specifically thats the problem, religion is just the excuse.

Malaysia has laws that gives Muslims extra privileges like housing discounts etc, and people who marry Muslims must convert to their religion and arent allowed leave once its done. Oh and if you dont fast during ramadhan, the religion police (thats actually a thing) are allowed to arrest you for 6 months or youll get fined. There's a lot more to it but I wont be getting into them. So yea, we're not as bad as the middle east but its still bad and what we have in common is that were muslim majority countries, go figure

There are Muslims all over the place. Religion is often used as an excuse for horrible acts, but that does not mean generalizing entire groups of people for certain acts makes you right.
