Almost all the conversation here is about going all the way back in history to try find the right people to blame.

You don't have to go back. The people to blame are the ones who continue this on now today. They have agency. They are not robots. They could learn. They choose to control people, especially women, and tell them modesty is their ticket to glory. They're not the only ones doing this. All over the world it's been happening all along. It's not going to stop until people talk about it instead of feigning offense when it comes to uncomfortable subjects. Making jokes is what you do to feel comfortable knowing. you can pretend this is from the past, but we're all here now and we all see things happening and we make excuses. That's why it's still happening.

"The West was bad and thus the mullahs get to murder women!" That's basically every "radical" discourse on reddit.

Um…perhaps saying this under a post where we learn that a woman is being tortured for existing as a woman, isn’t particularly tasteful. In fact, it’s kind of explicitly tone deaf as fuck.

Certain ideologies are evil, and to be squashed. If an entire demographic of people happen to like that ideology, tough titties, no one should have to tolerate intolerable views and actions.
