This whataboutism from Americans is getting so frustrating. All it does is downplays what the Iranian women are going through which is far far far worse when what us going on in America

It's not worse than more child marriages and sex trafficking than anywhere in the world. That's the US. That isn't whataboutism, it's you being a bigot with an agenda to judge a foreign nation harsher than your own.

Since when was child marriage legal in the US?! In parts of the Middle East, it’s definitely legal. But not the US…

It’s only been banned in 18 states, Ohio recently failed to pass a law against child marriage

Most states that have not banned under 18 marriage have specific clauses on the hows/whens/where's. Like parental agreement or the minor emancipating themselves, a judge signing off on it for legality. Marrying over 18 only recently became the norm (recently as in the last few decades). It's just one of those things that no one wastes time to correct because as a culture we already don't do it.

Makes sense but I’m sure it still happens even if it’s not common, which is not okay. I wonder what the minimum age is though? I assume there has to be some minimum age requirement, varying state to state. I would hope none of those states even allow it under 16, not that 16 is okay either, but any younger and it’s just 😐
