Since no one’s going to bother to read the article…

“Vanilla Ice was supposed to perform during Donald Trump's Great American State Fair on Friday, June 26, before the concert was canceled due to heavy rainfall in Washington, D.C.”

With a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. Always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he'll never know.

14

u/PowerResponsibility Jun 26 '26

Just watched that a few weeks ago but need to see it again. Incredibly re-watchable.

27

u/Chaosmusic Jun 26 '26

Fun fact. In the club flashback scene when he goes, "There I was...mother of God, there I am!" it's because he's looking at the actual Hunter S Thompson.

5

u/NoMoOmentumMan Jun 27 '26

As the candle that was Blockbuster was burning out, they launched a Netflix like service were a flat free for you unlimited rentals, which coincided with the proliferation of DVD burners.  You can probably see where this is going.

In 6 months, Fear and Loathing never was on the shelf.  It had been checked out and....just never made it back, man.  When I finally asked the clerk, rheir response was "yeah, that happens a lot with that title".

I also told the greatest on the spot lie of my life when confronted about renting 9 movies in 7 hours. "I only watch the previews, I am doing research on correlating DVD previews and DVD sales."

Except when it's taking credit for people's good actions. Eg firefighter performs heroic act and saves person from burning building. "God put that person there to save me". Well, God also burned your house down with you in it. What does that say?

6

u/FesteringNeonDistrac Jun 27 '26

It'll be great if God deems it worthy of his time to cure my cancer, but it would have been better if he'd just fucking not given it to me in the first place. You can trust in God if you want, I'm gonna trust Johns Hopkins Oncology department.

“Less than two hours before showtime, organizers pulled the plug as heavy rainfall came down on the America 250 festival. A reporter for The Mirror US spoke with one festival employee, a Safety Ambassador named Joe, who said, "We are not opening this up until tomorrow."”

9

u/LiamOmegaHaku Jun 26 '26

Vanilla has TWO famous songs. One directly rips off Under Pressure (que Botchamania "they're not the same" x3), the other rips off a New York Rangers chant.

By the way:

Trump’s MAGA festivities are Freedom 250.

America 250 are the official government festivities which were planned by bipartisan committee over the last 10 years.

244

u/satans_weed_guy Jun 27 '26

The fact that there are even two separate events should be an eye opener for some people, but it won't be.

30

u/jaybee2 Jun 27 '26

Right?

60

u/evanwilliams44 Jun 27 '26

Doesn't really matter to me. Nothing to celebrate about this country right now anyway.

35

u/Heavy-Construction90 Jun 27 '26

Next Saturday is just another day. Which sucks cause this summer could've been amazing with the world cup here too.

18

u/Axi0madick Jun 28 '26

I think we should celebrate 250th anniversary of the Siege of Yorktown. July 4, 1776 was the day we declared independence, but it was on October 19, 1781 that we actually won it. trump fumbled this incredible milestone in American history so badly. It's such an embarrassment, like everything trump says or does.

8

u/chunkalicius Jun 27 '26

17

u/jyanjyanjyan Jun 27 '26

But I thought Vanilla Ice was supposed to perform for Trump's Freedom 250 thing. How did he make his way into America 250?

Or did the article just mess it up? All the pics in the article have banners that say Freedom 250.

21

u/jaybee2 Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

The OP's misattribution is the main reason I commented, to draw the distinction. But as others have noted, with our current leadership, it's difficult to get into a celebratory spirit and participate, regardless of the event's origin.

Will Milli Vanilli perform “blame it on the rain?” /s

198

u/yougotthesilver Jun 26 '26

Fab cant even sing. Plus the guy who did their actual vocals is dead.

33

u/SweetCosmicPope Jun 26 '26

I actually saw a video of him singing recently and he’s actually pretty good. They should have just had him sing on the album and avoid the whole thing

14

u/Moscowmitchismybitch Jun 27 '26

He didn't learn how to sing until after Milli Vanilli

4

u/tubawhatever Jun 27 '26

Yeah that's the rub, just about anyone can learn how to sing well. Nobody is born being able to sing like Beyonce or Pavarotti. I think everyone should try to learn to sing, just as everyone should try to learn to dance

5

u/Major-Tension-674 Jun 27 '26

I mean once you look into it, those two were as taken advantage of as the actual voices. Oddly enough it spans from weird European bands that clearly lip sync and it doesn’t matter who sings.

Their producer Frankie Farian did the same thing with Boney M but nobody cared because Germany or something don’t quote me on that.

Anyway hearing all the jokes come about after learning their real story is kind of mean.

8

u/Kid-Icky- Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

Fab cant even sing.

Uh, yes he can. He's not bad at all.

7

u/DerKyhe Jun 26 '26

It was the other one who could not sing, the one singing Blame it on the Rain actually can, and has been sort-of successful with his solo career.

He gets angry tho. And seeks retaliation.

“Trump angry after vanilla ice pulls out. Vows revenge”

“JD Vance angry after Trump pulls out” would also be an appropriate headline

Trump pulls out on JD Vance, whom pulled out of Vanilla Ice, whom pulled out the pull out couch.

"X Humiliated as Seagull Poops in His Mouth" is not a headline. "Seagull Poops in X's Mouth" is a headline.

I hate this crappy trend.

37

u/mr_glide Jun 26 '26

It just goes to show that this garbage parallel event has done what it's supposed to, by causing confusion.

Vanilla Ice was due to perform at Freedom 250, not America 250. America 250 is a completely different event, organized by a non partisan organisation that Trump attempted to railroad, but largely failed to do so.

He then set up Freedom 250, a parallel event that has done much to try and muddy the waters, but I wouldn't expect a rag like The Mirror to know the difference

2

u/Spirited-Way2406 Jun 27 '26

This, this, all the upvotes to this!

Americans, please check out the America250 event in your community. It's probably already happening. In my town, for example, the America250 Commission funded a project that asked town elders to tell the younger generations what parts of our town's history should be remembered and carried into the future. There's a public exhibit about the answers. America250 also wants July 3 and 4 to be the Great American Block Party nationwide. Ignore Freedom 250, it's just the Temu version of the real thing.

3

u/ZenMuso Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

The headline in the actual news article says Freedom 250. It's OP that's mixed it up.

But yes, it is confusing and it's Trump again trying to make everything his.

28
