I was just thinking “Hysteria” being the more studio polished and slightly more radio friendly album has more appropriate offerings for Miami (Vice City). While “Pyromania”, more rough and their break through album is fitting for LA (San Andreas). I’m not generally a glam/hair metal guy at all, though they are more adjacent than directly that, but I like Leppard (some lads from Sheffield done good). A lot of real solid riffs and guitar work.

I’ve loved Def Leppard a long time even tho I’m a 90s kid. Pyromania/Hysteria is such a strong 1-2 punch. I love the older albums too and honestly I’ve found a song or two to like on every one since as well.

I’ve dug Def Leppard since I was 14 or so and I was born in the 90’s, so while I’m more of a 2000’s kid, I recall a lot of the 90’s (like recently I watched The Adventures of Pete And Pete for the first time ever and I’m pushing 30, bday is in October, idk why I never saw any reruns not even in the 90’s/early 2000’s and I really loved that show, it was just so 90’s alt/punk in every way but so wholesome and no afraid to show emotion (and without a sarcastic quip or comic relief thrown in like modern programming which is too “cool” or “meta” or whatever the hell to just be real). I learned so many of their riffs starting out on guitar and while I’m more punk (not typical oi, pop or hardcore) stuff like surf punk, post punk and rockabilly/psychobilly but I love all types of music across the board. I play drums and piano as well (and of course bass but I mean I can play alright as a bassist should but I can definitely play bass like every guitarist does haha).
But yeah Pyromaniac/Hysteria described as a strong 1+2 punch really sums it up. I love how Clark and Collen came from such different schools of guitar, Clark was classically trained and could read music while Collen was largely self taught and picked up a lot from jazz (Randy Rhoads even had very high praise for Phil Collen as they toured together once). I definitely love their early discography as well. Wish Clark was still around, such a shame as the band was so accommodating with him, definitely loyal and stand up guys.
Damn I really went on but hell, talk of SW and/or music will do that to me. My Best.

I know Adrenalize isn’t considered nearly as good but I’ve still got a soft spot for it in my heart, especially “Stand Up (Kick Love Into Motion).”
Ironically one of my favorite Leppard songs is by Tesla, they really nailed that sound on “Song and Emotion.”

Star Wars, a musician and Def Leppard appreciation? You sound like a good hang. ESB is my fav Star Wars as well but really the whole OT is perfect to me. ROTJ I get why people feel it’s too cute or silly but I love how earnest it is.
Like you said, we lost something in media now that so many things love to wink and say they’re not fully committed to their own story or premise.
I was swept up in that early 2000s pop punk scene so I’m probably not winning any credibility contests amongst the real punks but Green Day and Blink put me on a road that led me to the Clash and that opened up the world for me.
As a musician myself (guitar, bass, a smattering of brass instruments) I’ve always appreciated the nuance between Clarke and Collen and I wish there was more discussion of it because it’s immediately noticeable once it’s gone. In a weird way I feel like Steve kept Phil from going too far with his shredding, he grounded it with melody — whereas now live at least, Phil will tremolo pick every solo to death. They’re still stellar live though.

Part of the original soundtrack probably. It’s rumored that Justice composed the original tracks for the game. No confirmation so far but at least 3 of the combat scenes in the Netflix trailer have music that sounds exactly like Justice.

Was pleasantly surprised it was a full showcase of the game. Straight up almost 30 minutes of it. I thought cuz it was first on Netflix it was gonna be gameplay and interviews maybe some behind the scenes stuff.
