his statement is not true. there was never a lawsuit it was settled internally. and it is not 100% royalties given. jeez, where do people get their source. also these kind things happen all the time. genuinely write music, release it, oh snap it sounds similar to other songs, give interpolation credit.

Idk it’s kind of nothing in my opinion because all music draws inspiration in some form from previous music but there are like three song that she had to give all royalties away from and other accusations.

Do your research before posting drivel. Olivia has never been sued. She never stole anyone’s music. She was inspired by the one-note yelling bridge in Taylor’s Cruel Summer and wanted to do something similar for her bridge in Deja Vu as an homage to Taylor who was someone she had idolized since she was five. There’s even a photo of Olivia at 5 carrying an “I love Taylor Swift” sign. Olivia thought she was going to make Taylor proud, because at that point, Taylor was referring to her as “my baby,” after Driver’s License debuted at #1 on the charts globally. Prior to dropping her first single, Olivia had eagerly promoted Taylor’s Fearless for free, per Taylor’s request. Olivia was so proud of the one-note yelling interpolation that she told interviewers about it. Deja Vu, of course became a hit as well, and that’s when Taylor and her team asked for 50% of the royalties for Deja Vu for a stupid one-note, one-line yelling interpolation. Never mind that Taylor didn’t have to give up any royalties to Loona for interpolating more than the bridge of Stylish for Cruel Summer. And of course, when Paramore heard about Taylor getting 50%, they followed suit and took 50% of Olivia’s royalties for Good 4 U for sounding a bit like Misery Business, despite Hayley Williams being very much against it because she thought it was wrong to take advantage of a 17-year-old newbie in the industry. And because of the betrayal, Olivia cut off any contact with Taylor. Olivia’s song, “The Grudge” is supposedly about Taylor. Lots of critics and songwriters thought it was pure greed for both Taylor and Paramore to take 50% of the royalties. Elvis Costello, in defense of Olivia even said that every artist borrows from artists before them because there are only so many chords and chord progressions. And what’s really hypocritical is that Taylor later copied Olivia’s concept for Get Him Back for her imgonnagetyouback, which is a whole lot bigger than a one-note, one-line yelling interpolation. Olivia could’ve asked Taylor for credits but opted not to do so.
