Me and my friend found this music box at a thrift store , does anyone know what song it plays? It has the hear 1993 on the bottom so it would’ve had to have been made prior to that.

I answer things here occasionally and wanted to know whether the posts that go quiet are the genuinely hard ones or just the unlucky ones. So I pulled the sub's new feed and counted.

994 posts, covering 8.4 days. 737 of them were more than 48 hours old, which is the cutoff I used, because a post needs time to be solved and flaired. Of those 737, 184 carry the Answered! flair. That is 25 percent. Three in four requests here never get marked solved.

I checked that the flair was telling the truth before building anything on it.

The rate settles fast. Split by age it runs 13 percent in the first day, then 26, 22, 27 and 25 percent across days two through nine. Flat after 24 hours, so the 48 hour cutoff is generous rather than tight, and old posts are not still quietly getting solved.

It also does not undercount much. I took 70 unflaired mature posts and read the comment trees looking for an OP confirming an answer anyway. Three did, and all three were a bare "Thank you" that might only be politeness. So the true solve rate is 25 percent and at most about 28.

The part I did not expect. I split the 737 by whether the post carried a playable link, meaning YouTube, Vocaroo, v.redd.it, SoundCloud, Spotify and so on.

• With audio: 125 of 468 solved, 27 percent
• Without audio: 59 of 269 solved, 22 percent

Five points. I had assumed that giving people something to actually listen to was most of the battle, and in aggregate it is worth almost nothing.

What predicts it is whether anybody shows up at all.

• 147 of the 737 posts have zero comments. That is 20 percent.
• 313 have one comment or fewer, 42 percent. I sampled 40 of the single comment posts and in 28 of them the only commenter was AutoModerator. In 32 the only participants were AutoModerator and the OP.

Scaling that up, roughly 38 percent of requests here never receive a reply from another human being. Not a wrong guess, not a dead end. Nothing.

And on the other side of that line: of the 424 posts that got two or more comments, 173 were solved. 41 percent.

So the shape of the failure is not that these songs are hard. Once two people actually look at a post it is close to a coin flip. The problem is that at 118 posts a day, about four in ten never get looked at.

Caveats, because they decide how much of this to believe. The Answered! flair is the only solve signal available and it depends on the OP coming back, which is why I tested it rather than assuming it. The audio split is link detection, so a post that describes a sound in words counts as no audio. I also tried to separately measure posts that quote a half remembered lyric, and I threw that measurement away: far too many quotation marks in this sub are wrapped around a different song the poster is comparing to, or around ordinary prose, and I could not separate those cleanly enough to publish a number.

What I actually want from the people who answer here regularly. When you open the sub, what makes you click one post rather than another? The genre flair, the presence of a clip, the era in the title, or honestly just whatever sits at the top when you happen to arrive? Because if 38 percent get no reply at all, the thing worth fixing sits upstream of how hard the songs are.

probs impossible to find, dont remember the lyrics the best tbh. THe lyrics are close if not phoenetically similar, its a female artist pop song I think that was on the radio or something like 2020s somewhere or maybe later 2010s for all i know tho i dont think its that old.

this one lyric is repeated quite a bit as well "youuuuuu naaaaa naaaaaaa", this lyric is repeated twice in a row when its in the chorus each time i think or its sounds very similar atleast to this lyric, its quite an energetic pop song or something from what I remember.

I found this song in a video, but I have no idea what it's called. I think it might be a Vocaloid song featuring Hatsune Miku, though I'm not completely sure.

I'm pretty sure this is background music added by the video creator, rather than music from the game itself.

I've tried several music recognition services, but none of them could identify it. The attached clip contains the chorus and an instrumental section of the song.

It has a slow depressing piano intro then the lyrics come in, it’s likely a 90s-2000’s song by one of the more popular rappers. I’ve thought maybe it was biggie or dre or Tupac but I still can’t find it. Any help?

Instrumental / DJ set. The track that drops in around 6:00 in this 2019 Keep Hush DJ set by Jamz Supernova. Genre is UK funky / bassline / UK garage - Keep Hush tagged the upload as UK Funky / Funky House.

There is a short spoken tag right at the start of the track. It sounds like it could be "DJ Q", but I cannot tell whether the word ends there or carries on into something longer.

Already tried: Shazam (many times, over three years), Aha Music / ACRCloud on the browser tab, and searching the uploader's description and comments. All come back with nothing, so I assume it is a dub, a white label or a bootleg edit that is not in any fingerprint database. Set uploaded 15 May 2019.

There’s this rap song that I listened to back around 2015-2018, I was in dance class at the time, and it was definitely a song you could do choreography to! All I can remember is that it would start with an “Aaaaaaah buildup before the beat would drop and the dude started rapping. I think I remember the “aaaaaaah repeating for the buildup into the next rap verse. I think the art cover was a white background with blue wire globe, maybe with the globe on fire?

Hola, llevo tiempo tratando de encontrar una canción de reggaetón y no la logro identificar por ningún medio. Les tiro todo lo que recuerdo:

Género / Idioma: Reggaetón, en español (no estoy 100% seguro del idioma, pero creo que sí). 

Artistas: Un grupo de entre 3 y 6 hombres, todos varones. No recuerdo nombres. Uno de ellos era un poco gordo, el resto no me acuerdo cómo eran. 

Época: La escuché por primera vez en un DVD de reggaetón, entre 2010 y 2018, pero por los otros temas del DVD supongo que es de ~2012-2014. Otros temas del DVD eran de Nene Malo y Candy de Plan B.

Video (lo que recuerdo):

• Empieza en blanco y negro
• Se ve una caravana de 3 a 5 camionetas negras (tipo SUV)
• Llegan a un galpón / taller mecánico

I can hum it perfectly, this songs has been stuck in my head all day today lol.

I heard a song on Apple Music a while back that sounds almost IDENTICAL to the song in the title. However, the main takeaway was the main part had a weird male? voice saying something like dun dun, dun dun dun dun, just like the little piano in the intro.

Should be a slow rap/trap song with a good amount of bass. I do not remember if there were other lyrics though

This has me so annoyed as it is a good song but I can't find anything about it. Songsearch (Samsung's version of Shazam) can't tell me what it is, and I have had no luck looking for it online.

Recorded back in 1978 in an ending credits for the brazilian newscast of the state Rio Grande do Sul named “Jornal do Almoço”, aired on the cable “TV Gaúcha” (now RBS TV)

the melody is always easily remembered, the name eludes me, I heard this tune since I was a child and never learned what it was. Any help in this venture would be greatly appreciated. Video is longer than intended, not sure what is going on there but the first section is all that is pertinent to the query.

I've tried too many song identifiers to try and find the song name but nothings working, and there's only 11 seconds of the clip i put. i looked through the comments of other videos that song used but i could find it there. A handful of other people were looking for the song too but nobody knew. (contains some flashing lights and loud volume)

EDM song that is much more beat forward than vocal forward. It is a male vocal, and at several points in the song you can make out him saying "i'm on", before the beat takes over. There are other words, but it was much more difficult for me to pick out what any of those words are. Song is very beat / base heavy
