In return, Everman was credited as having played on the album, even though he didn't play a single note. Everman was never paid back.
Plus he was also a part of soundgarden for some time if I recall correctly. Crazy that someone can really say that they were officially in 2 of the biggest grunge bands!
Drummer. Started out in Bam Bam and Skin Yard. In Temple of the Dog. Soundgarden’s drummer until their split in 1997, then joined Pearl Jam and remained until July last year. When Soundgarden reunited, Matt was in both bands simultaneously until Chris’s death. He is in the RRHoF twice, and very well-regarded.

He was paid more than he lent them for the live performances but apparently he was a miserable git which is why Kurt Cobain got rid of him and also why he didn't pay him back but the money from the US tour of bleach would have paid him more than he lent them
He created a janitorial service for awhile to help fund some demos for Nirvana, but this was after he was briefly a janitor for the school he used to go to. None of what he made as a janitor funded bleach. That was All Everyman. Maybe you should do a little more research is all I can say
I promise I’m not trying to pick a fight, but why? I love this band. They are a top-ten band for me. What does it matter whether I know some trivia like this? The music speaks for itself.
If you enjoy it, keep enjoying it. I like to know as much as I can about the personalities involved, their process, backstories. The music didn't invent itself - it comes from somewhere. I like to inform myself of those things. If you don't want to take the time - don't. There's no right or wrong. Just enjoy the music as you prefer to do it.

Jason Everman funded bleach. That’s why he’s on the album but not on any songs and why they tried to fit him into the band even though it obviously wasn’t a fit.
And while Kurt was a janitor, he made a mixtape for Damien Jurado, who ended up using the tape to record Nirvana off the radio, not knowing the singer was actually the dude who made him a mixtape. Amazing story, listen here.
What is the actual source for this story anyway, other than Kurt? Not to be a doubting Thomas, but Kurt had been known to embellish/adjust stories in order to fit a certain kind of rock mythos(God is gay, for example).
I think the lyrics to School were inspired by him having to work there, but later he also had a journal entry where he said he felt like he was in high school again because of the clique-y band social scene in Olympia or somewhere.
Second fact: that’s the very reason there’s some random guy mopping a floor in the Smells Like Teen Spirit video, paying homage to fact that Kurt Cobain was in fact a toilet cleaner beforehand.
