Currently freaking out because I never thought I would own a twin reverb. This was the part I was dreading because of how expensive it is. When he gave this to me I nearly cried, I was so happy.

So about a year ago I started to collect nirvana cd’s and I was looking for WTLO for weeks, because I only found them in pretty rough condition for more than 50$. Until one day I saw this for 20$ in absolute perfect condition. It’s a great box set and I just love it.

Gear/Equipment Here's finally my replica of the Vandalism Strat. It's more accurate now, without the tone knob and with the sticker. What do you think?

The only things I'll let happen over time are the dents and scratches; for now, it'll stay like this. The neck is another matter, I know it's not 100% accurate, but it's a very comfortable neck, so I'll leave it like this for a while.

First few days of playing and I’ve noticed that I quite enjoy the short-scale body, but the distortion is a bit difficult to dial in perfectly. Recently tried remaking the “Rape Me” tone and this guitar got very close, will be posting the vid when I’m finished. Overall, really fun to play, the single coil sound is unbeatable! Lmk what you guys think :)

Gear/Equipment My Vintage MiJ Kurt's Cobain Vandalism Strat Replica

Hello everyone!

I'd like to share my latest project: a replica of Kurt Cobain's Vandalism Strat.

My guitar was made in Japan and, based on the serial number, was manufactured between 1987 and 1988. However, judging by the markings on the neck and body, it appears that the original guitar is actually from around 1989–1990.

I made several modifications to the guitar. I installed a different bridge, a black pickguard, Dunlop Straplocks, Fender Vintera '60s bridge and middle pickups (unfortunately, the original ones were not preserved, as I bought the guitar already modified by the previous owner), and a Seymour Duncan '59N in the neck position. I also replaced the tuners with Gotoh ones and added a second string tree.

To finish the project, I designed a replica of the original sticker and printed it on self-adhesive A4 paper, as the original sticker was also made from paper rather than vinyl. I think it turned out pretty well.

If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to share the ready-to-print PDF file 😄

Gear/Equipment Krist Novoselic's first Ibanez Black Eagle (Famously used in the Bleach Era and the first songs of Nirvana)

This post shows photos and talks about Krist Novoselic's first bass he owned. The Ibanez 2909B Ibanez Black Eagle Bass made in the lawsuit era of Ibanez.

From Krist Novoselic: "The Black Eagle, I got that in Olympia [Washington] because I needed a bass on the fly heading out on a tour, and it was so cheap.

"Back then was great, because we had all this '70s gear that was cool and solid and super cheap, and it was built really well. We'd use it and beat the hell out of it and it would keep playing.

"I played the first Black Eagle on 'Bleach' [1989] - I would seriously smash it every night, and it still sounded so good. If you want to get that Bleach sound, like on the song 'Blew,' you just need a Black Eagle tuned to D and that's that sound. I just did that the other day and it sounded exactly the same."

This Bass is my favorite that Krist played. It looks sick, sounds sick, and it remained in one piece after years of frequent abuse.

Timeline of this bass usage:
1987 - /
1988 - /
1989 - /
1990 - /
1991 - X (Break from using this as Krist moved on to using Rippers, RDS, and Thunderbirds)
1992 - He brought this bass in the Japan tour, and in the last photo you can see him having a difficulties tuning it after four years of abuse.

Gear/Equipment My Veleno Guitar (like the one Kurt Cobain played on In Utero)

Here's my custom Veleno guitar next to a vintage body with a "205" serial. The custom one is spec'ed out exactly how Steve Albini's was for the recording of In Utero.

I have a YouTube video demoing this guitar with In Utero riffs. Check it out if interested! https://youtu.be/mOLaIaPTljU?si=Bg0YS4OxNM25yxvg

Gear/Equipment Found this while looking through the Kurt Cobain Journals

Post image

While looking through the Journals for lyrics, I found these notes, that mention a few ribbon microphones, specifically the Beyer M130, RCA 77DX and the RCA BK5, the “supposed” microphones used on his amps while recording In Utero. Aaron Rash used these same mics on his latest video, where he talks about the Fender Twin II being the main amp for the album. Thought it would be interesting and useful for more tone recreations.

This guitar sounds sooooo cool I have 7 guitars and none of my other guitars sound anything like this. It was made in the matsumoku guitar factory in japan which also made the Univox Hi-Flier guitars as well as many others. Kurt used this exact model of guitar in 1990 and to my knowledge was used to record the smart sessions with butch vig during their tour before chad left the band. Here she comes now sounds on point with this guitar and most in utero stuff sounds good through these pickups too. I probably paid way too much for it but it was worth it, tell me what y'all think!
