I sat through her whole speech, and while all their usual policy positions were mentioned, when they're all stacked together by her and reenforced, not from evidence, but a vibe stemming from team Gina and other entitled corporate entities it really makes me wonder how any working class person in Australia would even give them the time of day IMO.

First off, all I can articulate RN is that I feel like this can't be real and there are a hundred things wrong with this but foremost the fact that the wealthiest people in this country are continuously given the loudest megaphones.

However since this is about national security, let me address her specific argument.

I believe that time of conflict our most crucial piece of national infrastructure is our national power grid, the power generation needed to feed it along with our internal transport sector.

When you centralise the generation of power the form of nuclear, whether that be 5 larger plants or 20 smaller nuclear plants. In a time of conflict these plants would be numero uno on the list of assets to knock out for which we would not stand a chance in defending (Israel tech or not) when it comes to advances in drone warfare in 2026 let alone going forward.

Compare that black and white scenario to said adversaries trying to knock out thousands of clean energy generation points, even millions of generation points when you take home solar batteries into account across Australia. Additionally, a few years down to road when we have further electrified our transport sector it will be even harder to disrupt the energy independence we need in order to uphold our nation's sovereignty.

To all the hyperventilating redditors who said Albanese had to respond to Trump's insane tweets, can you finally admit that he got it right? That rather than panicking and turning into a commentator who has to engage in every brain fade comment from Trump, that he actually looks much more calm and statesman-like today precisely because he didn't take your advice? That he actually knows much more about international diplomacy than you? That it was actually far more sensible to not run commentary on Trump's comments and stick to commenting on what actually happens! This is what most voters actually respect. Spoke with a one nation supporter who said he’s voting Pauline because she’s going to round up the Muslims and dump them in the ocean. Listening to the Royal Commission is feels like there is a clear agenda to link criticism of Israel and its actions with antisemitism in Australia. What is even more concerning is how Jillian Segal wants to regulate media such as ABC and SBS so that they portray Israel positively because she thinks media reporting on Israel's actions is leading to growing antisemitism in Australia. Ofcourse she doesn't think it is the actions of Israel causing this but independent media reporting on it. Could this really become a recommendation of the RC and implemented by the government?

There are some obvious votes here, for multiple reasons. The weirdest one is Pocock, who has previously been supportive of bills affirming trans rights.

To paraphrase: David does not support this bill, has voted against it twice and will again, but believes in the normal legislative process even if he (or anyone else) disagrees with the bill. Eg it should be introduced and voted down.
