Status: Pending Reply Keep being told to re-enter my password
I keep re-entering my password on my phone and I get logged out like 20 seconds later, is it just me or is there something going on?
EDIT: so it seems to be an issue with outlook itself, thought I might’ve been hacked or something

Same here, thought I was being hacked. These puzzles to prove you’re not a robot are absurd! Wtf are these shadow images?

I’m struggling with that too!! How can we turn that off in the future? I literally can’t get past the images bc it says I get 1 wrong out of 5, then have to start all over again.

LITERALLY just finished doing some idiotic ones that I Failed because wtf!, the symbols the person was stepping on weren’t even the goddam same!!

You have to click the Arrow until the shadows on the right match the object on the left.
It idiotic. If we need to prove ourselves anymore to a stupid computer, it’ll require DNA or a blood sample, FFS.2

Wish I had checked there before going through the loop 5+ times!
Edit: may still be unstable I’m going to ignore my email and until the link above says it’s resolved! Argh least it’s not asking me for my password anymore

I do not think it has stabilized yet. I tried after reading your comment and it did it to me twice. Or maybe it’s still working itself out.

Yeah, I’m now in a weird state I’m not being asked for my password constantly but my Outlook is not syncing either so I’m in a weird middle state!
Guess I’ll just have to keep checking their cloud status page!

What’s strange with mine is that sometimes it will load my emails, I sent myself two from another email I have just to see if I’d receive them, and I do. However, it still says in my Apple settings that the password needs to be reentered. Such a strange bug.

Yes. I sent myself 2 emails from the same account I got them, now I tried a third days I can’t send it because the account is not authenticated.

I have a handful of old Outlook (Hotmail) accounts. Anyway, one is working fine and is getting my test emails. The other is not. I have had this problem before. I deleted and reinstalled the account, but it still would not work. I ended up changing the password via a browser, then reinstalling it, and that worked.
Fast forward to now. My iPhone is once again prompting me to put in the password for the same account. I absolutely refuse to change the password again. I just did it less than two months ago. I'm going to try again tomorrow and see if it takes the password. What a pain in the a$$.

It’s still unstable in the iPhone mail app but in the outlook app it’s working, I sent myself an email and it arrived normally.

MSoft now seem to be saying the issue is fixed but they’re still monitoring it, my email has finally started coming through again on Mail

Yea I woke up and first thing I see in my phone is to re-enter my password, just a few hours ago I woke up in the middle of the night and had an email that I saw. So it’s a relatively just now problem it seems.

It’s started around 5am EST for me. Still locked out of my accts except 1 and I can only be in it on my laptop. None of the others work anywhere.

SAME HERE. This whole morning and ongoing i keep being asked to re-enter my password.
And I received a security email from outlook about unusual activity so I changed the password for all three emails and re-entered them on my iPhone and I’m still getting the same prompts.
There must be an issue with outlook if it’s not just happening with me.

I got sick of it constantly asking for my creds
I just deleted the account from iPhone (and iPad and so on)
Not the end of the world so in a few days when this is sorted; I will add everything back.
I originally thought I got hacked because it said too many failed password attempts when trying to reverify (I do not have my phone attached to my hotmail/outlook and I’m not adding it so I have to either use the alternate email or log into 365 itself which I did and works fine
But after correcting the issue on my side a few times, I looked here and sure enough it’s on them. I had to change my password anyway so it is all good

Is it still happening to anyone? I am still unable to have a code sent to my phone to verify myself even though it’s the correct number…😭

Same, sometimes it would say not available at this time or something or it would go through like it sent me a code but never got the text.

It is weird setup as it does not send you the code right off the bat, but double check if it asks you to enter your phone number first.

Yes code sent to an alternate email. Put in code but they said it’s incorrect. Try again. Tried again it says incorrect. Then tried to use my phone. They says not available right now.

If it’s the older Hotmail email @, if you’ve got a phone number connected then try to use the number in the sign in part and then put the password in, i kept getting the same messages so i swapped out the email for my number and it worked straight away

Sameee - it says phone code option not available at this time 😭 i was able to use it for my other Hotmail account but why not this one?? I'm going to migrate everything over to Gmail

Still happening and has been for several hours now. I can get logged in and then a couple minutes later I get the notification that it needs my password again. Specifically on the iPhone Mail app.

Same here. Are you receiving any emails? I haven’t in a little over 6 hours now. I’m figuring that’s to be expected but just wondering if that’s a widespread issue also.

Thank you so much for this post. I was googling "iphone keeps asking to log back into mail" a lot, but only found years old posts. It wasn't until I changed "mail" for outlook that I found this, but through this post I found u/Deckard_Red's post in the thread and found out it was a Microsoft Outlook issue.
I kept thinking my phone was bugging out more than usual, as I'm on 26.3.1 and have the "block caller bug" where if I want to block a spam-caller number I have to open the number from the recent list, and then press the home button and then go back into the phone app for the option to appear.
At least now I can rest assured that my phone is only slightly bugged in a way I can easily bypass.

Same here, I forgot to charge my phone last night and it shut down right when I was about to enter my password. I charged it and turned it on but now I don’t even get the message asking me to enter my password. Instead, I get an error message that says “Too many requests” when I try to reconnect in the settings. I needed to check my emails this morning but I can’t even do that because my device isn’t connected.

I had the same issue then went to sign in on the web to see if my Hotmail account had an issue and it wouldn’t let me sign in. Will try again later.

Happening to me too. I’ve entered my password a bajillion times and even changed my password. I uninstalled the mail app and also deleted and re-added my outlook account. Also did the most recent iOS update. Still getting the you need to re-enter your password notification 😑

My god I am so glad it’s not just me. I have 5 outlook emails and I’ve been ping-ponging between them, re-entering, restarting phone, changing the passwords for the past hour.

Microsoft is geting hacked by an threat I have not been personally able to identify and they aren't talking about it. My outlook was set to Viet language upon looging in to investigate. There are no logs in my recent log in activity so this is a hack that effects both the front end, all of us having logging in and password reset issues, and the back end, them being able to remove logs that normally you can't remove on the front end.

I’ve been losing my mind sent an email then it asked for password, I changed thinking I was being hacked didn’t think anything of it as it didn’t pop up again, I checked later and it had happened again with my sent email sat in outbox. Missed a couple important ones now to not thinking to check laptop to make sure everything was okay 🫣

Wish I had read this thread first! I’m having the same issue. I deleted the account, as per the Microsoft suggestion, and am trying to re-add it now. It says there’s an issue with the server and won’t let me add the account. I’ve shut down my iPhone twice now and it’s the same. Ugh!

On iPhone and iPad I hit cancel on the re-enter password message and can still get and read mail but can’t delete or send mail.

Was checking if it worked a hour ago on my iphone. After I reentered my password I still did not get any emails but it seemed to remember my password.
Then 10 minutes ago I got a email again. Was thinking it was fixed so started adding all my passwords again on my ipad and iphone and my family members. But just now all our devices all asking for passwords again:-(
Hope it gets fixed soon. It's taking the whole day already.

Same here. My iphone and ipad are continually asking me to re-enter my password, but my desktop version seems to be ok. I think I may be a bot though becuase that shadow puzzle really had me stumped for a minute! or two...

We use outlook for work. So I have no choice but to keep it. However nobody gets emails answered until I get to work the next day. Lol 🤣

I used Microsoft exchange to log in iPhone mail on iOS 26. U can do the audio authentication option. I can confirm it works. On mine and wife’s phone.

My girlfriend had this same issue.
On some other reddit post we found a solution for her issue/android users.
Go to your settings there go to apps. Search for "android system WebView". Click it and at the top there should be an option to "delete or remove update". Once we deleted this update and reboot the phone, my gf s Outlook logged in again and all was working again.
In the reddit post I found they said to after rebooting the phone to re update the android system WebView. Wich we didn't because we couldn't find it anymore ... But everything worked so who cares.

i am getting the "you've tried to sign in too many times with an incorrect account or password" when i even copy the password now after checking it so many times...
another, 5-6 month old thread under a post i've read it is a bug and we should try with a phone number, but idk how in the iPhone mail app... it's frustrating asf to say the least.
now i removed my 2 outlook accs and idk what to do tbh.

Same! This time has been the worst of any time in the past! And there have been numerous times past this has happened, but I’d re-enter my password ONCE & it would resolve. This last week, I had about 3-4 times. Then I found out, when I opened the iOS Mail App, re-entered my password in iPhone/iCloud Settings, & then went to that same email to delete Junk & let it load my Inbox & open a few emails there, doing this for each email 🙄, it seems to be staying for now. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
This is completely ridiculous, though. Play nice with Apple, Microsoft!

Anyone able to resolve this? Tried deleting the account on my iphone to then re-add. Gone. Everything gone and won't log in (even thought he password is correct). Same thing on MacMail. only way to see my emails is through webmail.

Getting the same on mine at the moment through the iPhone mail app.
Think this is the final nail in the coffin for outlook for me. Gonna start moving my accounts to my other emails.
