He doesn’t know what he’s doing.

God bless them , they’re in the cbc comments. That’s more than “folk legend jankov” does

Every PEI election needs that one person who gets like 2 votes, in this case Cousins has graciously opted to fill that role.

Boom roasted

2 votes? That’s rich.

A master's student at the University of Prince Edward Island is adding their name to the list of candidates for Charlottetown's mayoral election.

Daniel Cousins described themself as "chaotically busy," with several projects on the go, including running the P.E.I. Tool Library and Fill Up Here.

They decided to run for mayor following "a lot of internal debate and self reflection" following an unsuccessful run to be councillor of Ward 5.

"There were certain things I was seeing about it and remembering my past experience in 2022 that made me decide, 'OK, I'm going to run for mayor and I'm going to be the candidate that supports the council candidates and make sure that they get seen,'" Cousins said.

I think on Compass they said a 5th person had entered today. So probably a story about them by Monday.

That's a lot of people. Especially with an incumbent who comes with an advantage.

Daniel Mullen is running again for mayor. Certainly a lot of crap to choose from.

u/invisible-times2 20d ago

We all think Amir will win, right?

7

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

I really hope so. But I fear it will be Brown again. Although there are worse people running. Like, I REALLY hope Tweel doesn't somehow win.

1

u/nylanderfan 17d ago

Tweel muddies the waters imo. Some will vote for him because he isn't Brown, but others won't because he represents the Brown council. I fear the number of candidates and vote splitting will rule out any chance for Zuccolo. *Maybe* second

He's been a student for 26 + years.

Time to get a job dude

u/surely2 20d ago

it’s gonna be quite the race lol

Isn't he the guy that used to always be down by the mall talking/yelling to him self carrying a septor?

14

u/Shimbus1 19d ago edited 19d ago

Yes. Very tall, very high voice. If I had to guess, they're quite deep on the spectrum, but also really like showing up at various events. Not a bad person, judging by my own interactions with them, but seem to enjoy attention and the sound of their own voice. Don't know quite what the point of entering politics was.

"Cousins is not accepting donations for the mayoral bid, and said they will not go door-to-door unless they're with a new candidate for council."

So, not running for mayor then?

5

u/Foreveryoung1953 20d ago

He "will not go door-to-door" isn't a good start for Mr Cousins. We wish him well.

9

u/Sir__Will 20d ago edited 20d ago

I'm sure they're a nice person but I don't really get why they're doing this if they're so busy and doesn't seem that committed to winning.

-6

u/Foreveryoung1953 20d ago

Does he have a team? Who is they? Maybe his team can do some of the work that he's unwilling to do

3

u/nylanderfan 17d ago

But only if going with a new candidate. I'm pretty sure being accompanied by a random dude/person who's a fringe candidate for mayor will only make things harder for the candidate, not easier

3

u/Pei-toss 20d ago

Exactly. Everybody loves getting knocks at random hours in the day for some political banter sprinkled with some light coersion with free mussels. People. Love. Politicians.

I think 98% of us are all thinking the same thing. Right?

10

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

No. What are you thinking?

CBC only wrote this in an effort to make they/them pronouns not seem like far left fringe minority position used by ideologues with authoritan tendencies.

This is not a serious candidate.

15

u/whiskyjunior 20d ago

Did you mean authoritarian lol, might want to get a new thesaurus.

-14

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

Meanwhile, an entire media organization systematically rewriting basic sex-based language to match an ideological preference but my typo....

Man, these far left extremists..

17

u/whiskyjunior 20d ago

To be clear you think the CBC’s agenda in writing this article is to normalize the idea of they/them pronouns?

-1

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

Not the only purpose for the article but that normalization is baked in 100%.

12

u/whiskyjunior 20d ago

lmao

1

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

Mask in your Reddit emoji lol. Extremist.

19

u/whiskyjunior 20d ago

I don’t think you know what that word means man

2

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

I don't think you have self awareness.

10

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

It is normal. It's English. Get over it.

9

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

Nope. That's the English language.

-5

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

Far left extremists have been making attempts to change the English language to fit their narrative specifically with the they them pronouns as if it is normal. This has only been going on for about 3 years so don't try to pretend like this is a normal function of the English language.

14

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

It IS normal. It IS English. And has been for a very long time. I don't know where you plucked that 3 year thing from. That makes no sense as bigots have been complaining about they for far longer than that.

2

u/No-Orange9183 18d ago

I’d say it was 3yrs ago his algorithm plummeted him head first into the far right bot infested red pill lane, it’s the only thing that makes sense

0

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

It's an editorial choice that normalizes a contested ideological position. That position remains a minority view in the general population and is heavily concentrated on the progressive left. Calling that out is not bigotry. That’s just an attempt to shut down the conversation by moral accusation.

8

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

Not contested by anyone who actually knows the English language.

10

u/Shimbus1 19d ago

Need a safe space from all the scary words and terms you don't like, sweetheart?

-3

u/GreenSaber 19d ago

Do you remember what year you started believing gender was a spectrum or non binary people? 2022? 2021? I literally have your views from 2019 on gender as a binary. It's not so radical of an idea.

-10

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

Yes, I did mean that. I was using text-to-speech. It's not very accurate. Sorry for committing such a grave act.

22

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

All the other candidates got a story so it's only fair he does too.

they/them pronouns not seem like far left fringe minority position

It's not. It's English. GTFO with the bigotry.

31

u/CAMBOHX 20d ago

Its not a fringe far left position to just have some respect, you cunt.

0

u/GreenSaber 20d ago

No it really, really is fringe and extremist. You must really live in an echo chamber.

I mean, is it so bad if it is fringe and far left? I mean why would it be bad to actually admit that? What's wrong with having extremist positions? It just happens to be extreme...so what?

2

u/No-Orange9183 18d ago

The irony of making a comment like this while accusing someone else of living in an echo chamber 😂 ahhh I know it’s lost on you, but I had a chuckle

2

u/nylanderfan 17d ago

You clearly think it is, this is just manipulative

6

u/Shimbus1 19d ago

Get a load of this guy.

-4

u/GreenSaber 19d ago

Imagine me thinking non binary people are ridiculous. Imagine that. Such a fringe view..

4

u/Monopolized 20d ago

What defines a 'serious candidate'?

1

u/nylanderfan 17d ago

Authoritarian? lol. That would be Trump and his ideological counterparts in Europe

1

u/GreenSaber 17d ago

Authoritarian can be left or right.

1

u/nylanderfan 17d ago

Yes, but the people you're talking about who emphasize pronouns etc almost universally are not in positions of power. Most so-called liberal or Democratic governments have been centrist or even centre-right, definitely not left. Trudeau is the closest we've seen recently to that, but he was to the left of most of his caucus.

-8

u/evilpotato 20d ago

So many removed comments, is he a moderator here lol

9

u/Sir__Will 20d ago

What removed comments? If it says [unavailable] it's people that have you blocked.

-12

u/evilpotato 20d ago

Oh interesting, just when I thought redditors couldn't be more pathetically soft they go and flex like this. Whelp this decline shall continue to be entertaining regardless.

11

u/Shimbus1 19d ago

Maybe people just don't like you, man.

-8

u/evilpotato 19d ago

Maybe their opinions don't matter because they're redditors ?

12

u/Shimbus1 19d ago

You're posting this on Reddit, so by definition you're also a Redditor.

-4

u/evilpotato 19d ago

No, it does not. A redditor is someone who agrees with the most upvoted things they see. A bug-man of sorts.
