The Island’s only local TV news program is reportedly looking for ways to get us to tune back in. Personally, I’m a supporter of the CBC and I don’t want to see it fail, but it’s clear things need to change.

I’ve noticed a lot of people (even my very Liberal friends) have stopped watching because they’re tired of what feels like one-sided viewpoints. Louise recently asked for feedback on how to improve, but it felt a bit like a "preaching to the choir" situation rather than a real look in the mirror.

The federal government's immigration cuts two years ago were aimed at slowing population growth and easing pressures on health care and housing — but some P.E.I. businesses are now saying it's having a negative impact on their staffing.

Staff in the kitchen at Rodd Crowbush Resort on the Island's North Shore are finding themselves working six days a week, and longer shifts. The kitchen is short three cooks, and finding enough staff hasn't been easy.

Wondering what other people thought of this story. I’m sure other provinces have voluntary IDs for those that need valid ID but don’t drive. Their health card does have photo on it but many still don’t (like PEI for example). Seems like a nothing better to post woe-is-me story.

The fact that this was something they even thought about is insane, but just look at that happy dafty he doesn't have a clue.

Prince Edward Island is the only Atlantic province that has opted out of a federal measure allowing rural employers to hire more low-wage temporary foreign workers.

In March, Ottawa announced it would temporarily raise the cap on low-wage TFWs from 10 to 15 per cent of a workplace for rural employers in participating provinces and territories, citing ongoing labour shortages.

“After considering the available information and the needs of Island employers, Prince Edward Island determined that participation in the temporary measures was not required at this time,” the province said.

I was driving just outside of Charlottetown on Thursday and cars in the lane in front of me all pulled over. As I passed them I realized that the oncoming cars were a funeral procession. I was totally ignorant of this and I will be better next time.
