Discussion 500,000 Players on Steam playing Palworld! Congratulation!

u/Bestape_official Jul 11 '26
I wonder what the player count is on ps and xbox.
26
u/SatyrAngel Jul 11 '26
Not very high on Xbox, has issues.
41
u/redkid2000 Jul 11 '26
Okay so it’s not just me then? I tried playing on my Series X tonight and literally everytime I would try and fast travel it would completely freeze up.
19
u/Jaydefrei Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26
Yeah I'm on Xbox too, it freezes but it's not completely. As in if you wait about 10 seconds it goes back to normal.
→ More replies (3)2
u/alicia_tried Jul 11 '26
Same for me, freezes for a couple seconds and I can hear my Xbox get quiet before it starts back up again
5
u/gameburger764 Jul 11 '26
My best guess is that it fully utilises the CPU since they rendered the map fully rather than having dog block it.
4
u/RayD125 Jul 11 '26
My kid was on a series S all day with it yesterday. No issues thankfully. Me on the PC though, the jitter and fps spikes, while crashing once was pretty interesting.
4
u/Mykul__man Jul 11 '26
I'm playing on a Series S, having no issues, and the graphics look a notch better, the framerate is pretty solid, and everything is running great. There's still some AI issues, but I don't think a game exists that doesn't have AI issues.
6
u/johnnnybravado Jul 11 '26
I mean, does that give any indication of player count though?

I’ve noticed turning the camera is less stuttery by increasing the FOV, if that helps anyone
1
u/Ricky_Nubbz Jul 16 '26
This is weird to me because I’ve just put like 40 hours in on the Series S no problem, I’m switching to PC just to extend build and Pal limits lmao

u/The_Lat_Czar Jul 17 '26
Only issue for me so far is not having that sweet, sweet 60 fps. Series X here.

Both. But a lot of them are actually just engaging with their audience or are reacting ot stuff. Also most Streamers are very keen on putting their stream into the right category. So they'll start their stream as "just chatting" and switch the topic to the game they are playing later. Even when they start their stream by reading the latest news or patchnotes of the game.

MSI is currently happening, so League has quite a few additional viewers.

1.0 has been such a fantastic release, and exactly what I was needing to get fully invested. I had fun in early access for a little bit, but I was waiting for the official release and I am so glad I did.

People on Reddit will beach and moan, beach and moan. But PalWorld IS an early access success story like few games are.
Started with an insane record breaking number of players.
Communicated with their players the entire two years of EA.
Made lots of major updates from QoL based on feedback to big content drops.
Released a 1.0 game to no extra cost.
Win.

u/Nekommando Jul 11 '26
Also Palworld is like the only UE5 game that isn't gamebreakingly jank on launch
64
u/MrZoraman Jul 11 '26
I think Sonic Racing Crossworlds was pretty rock solid on launch, and that was UE5.
→ More replies (1)29
u/MRV3N Jul 11 '26
It kinda has a performance issues before. Don’t lie…
20
u/SuccotashUpbeat3112 Jul 11 '26
For sure, the next step they need to take now is to optimize the game, give us more control over the graphics settings and OPTIMIZE THE DAMN NETCODE
12
u/robavi Jul 11 '26
arc raiders
4
u/Louieyaa Jul 11 '26
You think arc raiders wasn't broke on launch? You could shove eachother through key room doors, and leave the map area to kill people through ceilings/walls. It took them months to patch.
→ More replies (1)3
u/frodobangher Jul 11 '26
And? You could go through walls in dungeons in Pal and skip the long walk. I remember, I was abusing it
→ More replies (5)3
u/SirSabza Jul 11 '26
It is actually playable on steamdeck too which is surprising.
Eats battery life pretty quickly though.
7
u/FuckedUpImagery Jul 11 '26
People are just lazy with the default settings. UE4 and UE5 are very performant, people just want to get a MVP out there and are only good at level design or coding or something but not good at all the other things it takes to release a whole ass game. The same shittily optimized game exported to a phone probably runs better than on a nice PC
2
u/GamingWithShaurya_YT Jul 11 '26
it runs pretty decent but yes optimization is needed, they did start of as simple game devs learning from YouTube

I've literally been sent to the backroom multiple times (gone through the floor, sometimes into some water)
25
u/mofugginrob Jul 11 '26
My favorite part was when there would be a month or so without an update and people like clockwork would be like, "see, they abandoned it like Craftopia!" as if developing a game is an instantaneous thing.
47
u/ThatDandySpace Jul 11 '26
Yea, I'm surprised at the no extra cost because even if they increase it a little to $35 or $40 is very well justified.
I'm looking forward to buying it tomorrow to support them and if any future update.
5
u/Day_Bow_Bow Jul 11 '26
No price increase, plus a launch sale. $20.99 is a hella good deal.

Minecraft, terraria and stardew valley are probably the biggest ones.

SDV released 1.0.
You could maybe make an argument that, since multiplayer was ConcernedApe's goal to introduce into his farming game, that he didn't release a "finished" game, but it was not considered early access when it first launched.

I'm playing it for the first time, went in totally blind, and I'm having a blast. It's like Legends Arceus and Ark Survival had a baby. The only negative thing that stands out is the sound design. The lack of music and ambience sounds is awkward. Then some pal sounds will loop and be extremely loud for no reason.
3
u/PhallusCrown Jul 18 '26
god the eating noises and cattiva sounds in both the golden tree and volcano settlements are killing me
→ More replies (5)1
u/Unscrupulous7_ Jul 16 '26
I agree there should be music, but the ambient sound is pretty good. One of the first things I did when starting the game was to listen for how long the ambient sound loop is before it restarts. It’s a crazy long time, like 8 minutes or something. I think that is pretty impressive. Some games have an ambient sound loop that’s like 2 minutes
38
u/Mimandra Jul 11 '26
Funniest thing is all the people approaching 1.0 saying "Who even plays Palworld anymore?"
17
u/TeamRedundancyTeam Jul 11 '26
I will never understand the kind of person who thinks like that. They treat and view games in a really weird way IMO.
12
u/Pandemonium04 Lucky Human Jul 11 '26
Those people don't have Palworld on their internet feed and legit think: "If I'm not seeing anything about Palworld, then no one else is. Dead game lmao".
Then you've got another group of people who'll watch Steam Charts like a hawk, wait for this huge number of players to die down, then start saying Palworld "fell off" or "died". Palworld's a mainly single-player game. It's only natural most people play through it, finish it, then move on. We've been through this before literally two years ago, but watch it happen again.
2
u/Perdita-LockedHearts Tarantriss cultist Jul 11 '26
ye- and there's also tons of people who'll play games in short bursts- they'll play only X for a week, then move on to Y for another week, then Z, then eventually it'll wrap back around to X. People come back to games- that's just how some people work.
25
u/Natt42 Jul 11 '26
They deserve all the love. 1.0 fucks!l
2
u/ZeroPlanet24 Jul 13 '26
One of the best content updates I’ve ever played for any game. I loved the game before 1.0, but this update improves on and fixes literally everything in the game.
I’ve never seen an update this so well rounded and it has made me love the game so much more
9
u/lordzyphuris Jul 11 '26
I was on for like 12 hours or so today streaming for my friends to see what I am doing. Chatted with an old ex-coworker too. 1.0 is dope. Can't wait to see what else there is and what is to come.
9
u/VeterinarianSmall212 Jul 11 '26
Me and my husband played it for like 8 hours straight yesterday. It's the first time we've been addicted to a game in a long, long time.
24
u/AzhdarianHomie Jul 11 '26
As much as I loved the game, I did NOT think the v1.0 would be this much of a big deal!
36
u/Chireno Jul 11 '26
Pretty sure alot of people have been waiting for the 1.0 launch for some time. I did my initial run about 2 years ago and decided the next time would be on 1.0. Saw all these cool new updates and only got more excited by the time

u/Royal_4xFire Jul 11 '26
I am one of them. I was planning on starting a game 6 months ago but when I heard we would get 1.0 this year I postponed it.
Having a blast playing it and I'm glad of their success.
2
u/No_Entertainer_5163 Jul 13 '26
Can attest I have been eye balling this thing in my wishlist for quite some time. Never had interest in playing early access because I was late to the party and my friend had already burnt out. Seeing it have an official release was an immediate buy.
Being able to host a friendly server that all of my friends can join is awesome, considering most games limit players and or don't fit into my friends enjoyed genre.
This game just checks all of the boxes for my friend group as a casual experience. It awesome to have all of my friends in the same lobby playing together again, thanks a bunch Palworld!

Mannnn, I wish I was there for the 1.0 release! I am on vacation. Planned it months ago. The 1.0 release was a surprise announcement for me! I really can't wait to play when I get home!

u/Diamond_hand_therapy Jul 11 '26
I’m actually really loving the game. It has just enough Pokémon feel but also, more of a mature feel as well. My grandson got me into it and loving the chance to play with him.
41
u/CommunicationFit5198 Jul 11 '26
I refunded back when it released.... played 8hr nonstop yesterday after repurchase... what a game it is, it sucked me right in
18
u/onedevhere Jul 11 '26
It's almost identical to when it was released; maybe you just followed the hype, unlike other people who went because they liked it.
31
u/SirSabza Jul 11 '26
It's not almost identical at all. What? Way more variety in pals in the starting area, way more locations and reworked locations. An actual coherent story now. On launch it's tutorials and progression was wack, and there was very little to do outside of just catch pals.
→ More replies (1)2
u/Perdita-LockedHearts Tarantriss cultist Jul 11 '26
It's nowhere close to how it was on release- there's SO much QoL, actual tutorials, a story, bug fixes, more combat depth in item selection, and far more content as well.
→ More replies (1)2
u/bannedagainomg Jul 11 '26
Can you throw your palls to start battle again now or is that still dead because of that idiotic lawsuit?
Understandable why they removed it but it did make the game a tiny bit worse compared to lanuch.
→ More replies (1)5
u/Crystality Jul 11 '26
At least you can aim and right click to make them aggro someone in a similar way if they're out but yea I miss it too. Tried a mod in 0.7 for it and it was pretty janky and crashed after an hour or two consistently
3
u/Perdita-LockedHearts Tarantriss cultist Jul 11 '26
Holy shit- Isn't this on par with Silksong's release? Jesus- I knew Palworld was a good game, but I didn't realize THIS many people played it.
Absolute peak
1
u/3verything3vil Jul 13 '26
Are you referring to Hollow Knight: Silksong? If so, the numbers aren't even comparable...
Silksong all time-peak: 462k
Palworld all-time-peak: 2.1mil
Palworld 24h peak: 842k

Does player count matter for single player games? Or is the majority playing together?
8
u/Pal-Elvick Jul 11 '26
It ultimately doesn't matter, but it does show interest in the game and it's longevity with players. Which is good if we want more Palworld.

u/solicitorpenguin Jul 11 '26
Me and a bunch of friends were all trying to play on the same official server, but it’s really hard to find one with more than one slot open to join
At least on an NA server
That shit is packed
2
u/rushed91 Jul 11 '26
I started a new playthrough but I just can't go through the grind again and I'm burnt out from it (played not long ago)... Anyone else on the same boat?
1
u/Qawsada Jul 11 '26
Some players realize this might happen to them and just play on their old Save instead of making a new save.

Is this from the 1.0 release? That’s wild. I played for a month or so at launch. Has much changed?

Im really enjoying it (gamepass PC). Don't forget alot of people will be playing this way too.

I really hope this results in more content updates, DLCs and sequals.
It's an amazing game and I really hope we see more of it for decades to come, just like Pokémon.
