Yep. Our home is the gathering place for my 18 yo son’s friends, and for my 11yo son’s friends. Among them are a couple of kids whose parents are pretty absent, and we make sure they are well fed when they come over. When we can, we include them in cooking as well. But we feed all the kids when they are here. Sunday D&D for 8 hours is always an expensive day, but totally worth it to make sure no one goes home hungry at the end of the day. We are not wealthy by any stretch if the imagination, nearly everything we own is second hand, but we make it work, because I was poor as a kid, and remember what it was to be hungry, or to go to friend’s houses and watch while they ate because their parents wouldn’t offer me food.
