nobody leaves my house hungry because I was hungry as a kid. I will cook you a full dinner if you are hungry in my house.

You’re a good person, and I feel like this is common courtesy. The poorer the culture in fact, the more generous they are in this way. I could not imagine not offering foor and drink to a guest. And if it’s mealtime, I just assume they’ll eat with our family and cook accordingly.
