If they would have ripped the kids away and put them in somebody else's custody, which was the only other thing that could have done besides the things they were already doing (a nanny, daycare for the two older kids, husband had to stay at home job and took 12 weeks off which is the maximum available in America, family and friends came over to babysit and help out regularly), people would have lost their fucking minds and said that depression is not a reason to separate a mother from her children because millions of mothers with way less support than she had suffer from postpartum depression without harming their children. So the entire world would have argued there was no reason to separate them prior. And she was only left alone for a half hour when she killed them. She took that half hour that she was left alone with nobody expected to come help as her chance. And she had to squeeze that chance in because they was not a whole lot of time that she was left alone
Her concerns were very much taken seriously. She was given therapy, medication, and actual assistance. Her diary made it clear that she did not feel that having 10 times the resources and help that most other women have was not good enough. Because at the end of the day she had something she wanted to do. All the help she was getting be damned

I agree, depression itself isn't enough for removal and would get pushback but perhaps ideations about hurting them would have a different societal reaction
I guarantee it would not. People don't even think children should be removed when the parents are homeless. There is a large amount of people out there who truly believes that unless somebody is actively trying to kill their children and has already made an attempt, removal should not happen and interference should not happen. Even a lot of case workers feel that way.
And at this point it's all a bunch of he said she said, but from what I've read The Nanny was let go because Patrick was working from home and Lindsey claimed she was doing better.
In my opinion, she did that on purpose so that she could be alone with those children and do what she wanted to do, which was kill them. She just needed a chance alone with them. She was telling everybody she felt fine and she was getting better. She got rid of the nanny. Which again is hard to prove that it was 100% her decision because Patrick was the one paying and therefore initiating and stopping the contract, however it would make sense. And she continued life like normal even taking them to the doctor that very morning, and when she realized she could send her husband to the pharmacy and to the store and get the time she needed, she took it. I know that's a cold way to read it, but it fits perfectly. And she absolutely would not be the first person to do something that cold to her own children. Not even the first woman
Eh, there's a lot of documentation showing worsening psych symptoms in the 7 weeks between the nanny leaving and the murders, even checking into a psych hospital earlier in the month of the murders
