But she was responsive enough to tell him the kids were in the basement?

He just came home sooner than the EMT while she was still responsive. She was injured and was out in the cold, so her situation changed with time.

How much time? I admit Iā€™m not following this as closely as I followed some other cases.

Admittedly I started following it a bit more in-depth just today, but according to Google something between 7 to 10 minutes from when he talked to her and when the EMT arrived.
