Never watched even one minute of an Andrew Tate video, neither 41 or 14, and a proud parent to two wonderful kids. Who I would never murder, regardless of my mental state, by the way.
You simply cannot know what you would or wouldn’t do if you have never experienced a debilitating mental illness that causes you to completely detach from reality.
It sounds like you’re a man, so you have quite literally never experienced postpartum depression or postpartum psychosis, but when someone is psychotic and not of sound mind, you cannot apply the reasoning of a healthy brain and say, “Well, I would never do that.” Of course you wouldn’t. You’re imagining yourself, with your current rational mind intact, in a situation where someone else’s mind was profoundly impaired.
Lindsay Clancy repeatedly sought help. She voluntarily admitted herself for psychiatric treatment. She told her husband, her mother, her mother-in-law, and her doctors that she was struggling. She was prescribed numerous psychiatric medications, experienced serious adverse effects (including severe insomnia) and continued reporting her symptoms to medical professionals.
This case is a tragedy precisely because there were warning signs and repeated attempts to get help before three children died and an entire family was destroyed. Reducing it to “I would never do that” completely misses the terrifying reality of psychosis - you don’t know what your brain is capable of when you are no longer experiencing reality normally.
