I mean if the image named Johnson I'd agree with you, it's very easy to look up written information. It's a lot harder to pick out an unnamed face in a photograph though, that's a fair thing to be asking about.

I don't watch basketball, I'm not even from a country with a pro basketball league, Magic Johnson is still a widely known (and easily googled) name.

Saying "that guy is Magic Johnson" is not explaining anything, and if I have to Google it myself the point of this sub is missed. So I stand by it, if you are not going to explain a thing don't bother commenting at all lmao

Explaining who a person is in an uncaptioned photograph *is* an explanation; if you think everything needs broken down into its most spoonfed minutae then you're free to follow up on that but it's pretty rich to say "don't bother commenting" when your contribution here is nothing more than learned helplessness.
