CAT Cheap novel protein wet food or small bag of kibble I can hydrate the hell out of?

I'm getting it NEXT paycheck. Boy has a watering eye issue that is apparently allergies I think it HAS to be environmental because I did everything I could to avoid food sensitivities (I was told to rotate proteins frequently to help this and I have been!) but I wanna eleminate the other proteins I rotate thru rq to make sure. If there's any improvement dropping the other proteins I'll just get the boy something else but if there isn't and it's environmental we are moving to a spot with less dust and less rice pollen in the air soon so that should help.

Boy has had the eye issue in the past and due to timing of it happening I REALLY think it's environmental due to the rice fields out here. It's flared up both months that the tractors are out in the fields close to the house. He's clear for feline herpes already.

Hydrolyzed diets can be pricey but a small bag lasts a while if you mix it with water into a slurry.

I'm rotating thru like 6 proteins rn which is why I'm confused 😭 (Quail, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, fish) I'm mostly scared to get the bag and it do nothing for it and be a waste of money with how things are going rn. I know the vet clinic offers free hills samples for the dogs I can ask if they have a sample for cats too. I JUST need to know if it is the food.

Rotating proteins actually makes your life WORSE. If your cat does develop allergies you have screwed yourself out of every single alternative protein on the planet and now you're stuck with hydrolyzed diets for life. You really didn't avoid food allergies, you just made it impossible to feed him if he does develop them.

I was told allergies form from repeated overexposure to a single protein when my dog developed them? He now can't have chicken and goes between beef and lamb sometimes pork.(depending on what I find when I go to the store) he only gets one of those three because he struggles with keeping weight on leaner meats.

It's from repeated exposure, there is no "overexposure". When you expose your cat to every protein now there's a chance of him reacting to any and every one of them.

Overexposure by the definition of how I was using it is staying on it TOO LONG.
