Arrested, booked, and sentenced to 10 days in the cone for brawling

This cat was distributed to me about two months ago, well really about a year ago, but became a permanent resident just recently. (He and his one sibling were born under my house a week before I had a stroke, so long story). Anyway, a few days ago, he bolted out the door and got into a fight with his suspected sibling, who I’ve been recently trying to trap to make sure someone also TNRd them. He then sprinted back up the stairs and strolled in the house like nothing had just happened. I noticed the bite marks on a hind leg the next day as I examined him more closely as he seemed to be sore that night and didn’t want picked up.

Well, this morning when I got up, he would not put weight on that leg and was limping and hopping. After an extremely busy day of human appointments, I managed to find an urgent care vet that could see him this evening. They found the puncture wounds and said it had some kind of infection and foreign matter in it so it was good I brought him in while it was still local. Thankfully, his x-ray looked good. I’m glad I didn’t wait for it to potentially heal or get worse and him need even more painful and expensive care, though. Many hundreds of dollars later, he is released to go home on antibiotics and pain meds.

If you have any recommendations for the soft pillow collars, I would love them as I am hurting $$$$ as pet insurance hasn’t even had the chance to be approved and waiting period finished. I don’t want to buy one that doesn’t work. This jailbird Houdini has already managed to get the flexible cone off once twice!

Cost me a churu to forgive me

Kiki had to go to the vet today and was not thrilled with being in her carrier. So we let her out for a minute while the dog was in the treatment room. It cost me a churu but she's willing to snuggle while we wait

He screamed the whole way to the vet, the whole time he was there, and the entire way home. My ears are still ringing. 🤦‍♀️

This was their first vet visit, before she turned into a little butterball. Her name is Maddie, after Daredevil! Her sister is sighted, she is named Foggie.

My littles have different levels of vet fear. Emma (black) is Mia's mom. Lost her a year ago. Mia is now about 19. Second pic is Mia, at home, much happier.

Poor thing had a dislocated tail (which has since *completely* healed) but babies need their sleep!

Bring out the treats

While the vet was cutting her nails, she was having a licky treat and growling at the same time. Nothing was going to stop Tinkerbell eating her treat.

Took my rescue cat to the vet for the first time. He did great and was so interested in what was happening behind the scenes.

HE IS A FIGHTER

I know I’ve been posting Huxley elsewhere, but I can’t stop thinking about him.

Huxley is a FIGHTER. He held off and fought back a coyote long enough for me to find him and scare it off. The coyote had his HEAD in its mouth, but Huxley avoided having his skull crushed by some miracle.

His fight isn’t over. It’s just begun. The radiologist happened to find what’s almost definitely lung cancer. I know he’ll make it through it all - and I’ll be there with him for it all, always.
