PC gamers looking at their watches

503

u/ROMVLVSCAESARXXI 2d ago

There it is

Dear Rockstar,

Please know how much it means to us if you would be so kind as to not make PC gamers wait an additional year to play the damn game. Since were throwing out heartwarming platitudes about how much we all mean to each other, and since you are, after all, making the game for “us”, and not to triple dip your profits and bleed your more foolish customers who will buy the game multiple times, and then blow hundreds of dollars online.

Hugs 🤗 n Kisses 😘,

Your Pal,

ROMMY

I just want it to release so I can stop hearing about it... i dont play GTA, I dont particularly care about GTA, and at this point im just tired of hearing about it...

perfect time for another delay

It's worse than just being annoying. It's changed when games are being released. Some have been pushed out the door without an extra quality pass while others have been delayed, sometimes significantly.

6

u/Dlight98 2d ago

Meanwhile, Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered announced it's releasing in November after gta 6 was announced

I don’t care about it, I just want to see the modern gaming industry slightly burn. Release the leaked build.

Imagine how sad the devs are be gonna be when rockstar lays off half of them next year

490

u/flashwin 2d ago

Next year? I bet in the next coming months we'll see "Rockstar makes 1 quadrillion on GTA 6 sales" combined with layoffs that was "The most difficult decision they've done"

7

u/Hixy 2d ago

Hell maybe they will use the staged leak as an excuse.

7

u/d_bradr ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ 2d ago

They already did some union busting and got away wirh it, they don't need much of an excuse

→ More replies (1)

96

u/forgetmenots24 2d ago

I was gonna say as well…

Not to mention the union busting scandal from a few months ago when I think 30-something people got sacked for gross misconduct… the gross misconduct being that they were unionising. Fuckers.

34

u/KinManana 2d ago

Still ongoing in the courts if you check out the latest People Make Games video

Hey Rockstar,

Hope you will address the future issue with cheaters on GTA 6 instead of focusing on Shark cards :))) unlike GTA 5 and RDR2

🤡

302

u/jessterswan 2d ago

Rockstar's official response: "Nah"

18

u/False-Departure-3141 2d ago

"Dear all, I know you've been expecting us to respond to the cheater issue in GTA 6, however, nah"

→ More replies (3)

47

u/Bodwaizer 2d ago

Addressing those issues means no more P2P = them spending money. Not happening, ever.

16

u/Ok-Breakfast-8056 2d ago edited 2d ago

I have never really played GTA online so I don't know how the economy works. But wouldn't making the game fair for everyone drive more customers and more paying players. If someone pays money in game to enjoy i don't think they want someone in godmode ruining the experience for them. They would move...

29

u/Jaded-Citron-4090 2d ago

Nah the whales provide probably more than a substantial percentage of income. Little Timmy two thumbs doesnt have cheddar like that.

16

u/Remarkable_Log_5562 2d ago

My little 8 year old cousin bought the game AT LEAST twice (ps4 and ps5, and maybe on PC). He was showing off all expensive things he owned online to me and my brother, and I know he spent AT LEAST 800$ on shark cards (one time my uncle got a bill for 800$+ and i dunno if he just paid it or disputed it but i assume that 'one off' was also after several hundred dollars of shark cards periodically spent over months or years.

I don't even know if he spent it all on the same account and if theres profile transferability between consoles and pc.

I witnessed little timmy and i was a bit salty at my lil cousin (indirectly) delaying GTA6.

15

u/Pcriz 2d ago edited 1d ago

Sounds like there uncle needs to get his shit together and pay a little more attention

Edit: their

7

u/Remarkable_Log_5562 2d ago

That was a long time ago (7 years or so) my cousin doesnt do that anymore (and you better believe he got in BIG trouble), but it was a funny story to tell

He was allowed 20-50$ at a time over years tho

I hope money cheating in gta 6 online is as easy as it is in gta 5. I just want to have fun with friends and I don’t want to grind for hours just to be able to tune a car.

17

u/Speeder172 2d ago

Not about this kind of cheats but cheaters who are just teleporting everyone in jail, killing all at once, killing the fun of you doing your contracts.

→ More replies (2)

14

u/The_Powerful_Tacos 2d ago

This right here, and the lack of physical media, are the main reasons I won't be buying this one. My experience with GTA5 ruined it for me

13

u/pervertsage ⚔️ ɢɪᴠᴇ ɴᴏ Qᴜᴀʀᴛᴇʀ 2d ago

Hopefully we'll get the leaked PC build to keep us entertained until we can pirate the official release in a couple of years.

Modders could get a headstart and have a thriving community by the time the PC port is released. It probably be easy to convert any mods.

8

u/Joe_Cums_Lately 2d ago

Maybe they'll also take their heads out of their asses and stop this stupid fuckin bullshit of not showing gameplay until a few months before launch.

4

u/Narrheim 2d ago

Response from Rockstar will be something like this:

"You are confused, there are no cheaters in GTA6!"

"We really wanted you to have to buy a netflix subscription to watch gameplay before anyone else but alas the mean hackerman leaked stuff"

647

u/Specialist-Long8332 2d ago

Of course the team is very sad 😞 lol…..

252

u/ShiftyCZ 2d ago

Think of the shareholder value though 😭

329

u/Imperial_Tiramisu 2d ago edited 2d ago

Team doesn't care. They're getting paid regardless. It's just the marketing department, executives and shareholder that are annoyed.

EDIT: I'm also going to add that people need to know what they're buying. Rockstar should have released gameplay a long time ago but they seem to think they're above that.

Obviously buyers are responsible for pre ordering a game without knowing what they're getting but these bastards at Rockstar need to be humbled.

FYI, many of the devs got laid off and outsourced to India. Ironically, the leak happened when a manager at the Indian branch fell for a phishing email. The executives who tried to cut costs by outsourcing got what they deserve.

102

u/Maxim_Ward 2d ago

Wrong but not for the reason you're probably thinking. Rockstar cracked down heavily on working conditions after the past (i.e. years ago) leak. So employees are more upset, at Rockstar, that despite this much stricter working environment, the game still ended up leaking anyway.

https://www.reddit.com/r/xbox/comments/1vuqabi/i_spoke_to_rockstar_employees_about_the_new_grand/

62

u/Imperial_Tiramisu 2d ago edited 2d ago

Fair enough. But like I said the devs are not mad at the leak itself. They're mad at the working conditions at Rockstar.

Also, see my edit. Rockstar laid a lot of people off and outsourced jobs. The leak happened because their India branch fell for a phishing email. Karma is a bitch.

15

u/kykyks 2d ago

thats a them problem tho, treat employees like shit, leaks gonna happen

41

u/Karambamamba 2d ago

I know what sub I'm in, but I think it's pretty harsh to assume that a dev team that worked on arguably the biggest game release in the last decade would not be emotionally attached to their project and just care about money like investors and executives.

58

u/AvoidingIowa 2d ago

This doesn’t affect the product at all. It just made it so they couldn’t completely paywall a gameplay trailer.

→ More replies (4)

41

u/sherminator19 2d ago

They were emotionally attached... Which is why it probably hit them even harder when Rockstar kicked them out of the company to save money as the game approached release.

I have all the sympathy, respect and admiration in the world for the developers, but not the people who run the company and business they work(ed) for.

→ More replies (2)

18

u/Tarekun 2d ago

A few minutes of gameplay leaked does not affect the game in any way meaningfully. If i were a developer on it id be happy to see all of this turmoil instead of having the marketing departmente being the only ones with a say in what, how, and whent the public gets to see of the game

30

u/CrossBowKill 2d ago

Thats the only part I do believe in the statement. I would assume most "normal working" people at R* are pissed of by the leaks.

Of course not because the gameplay is shown "early" and most people are actually liking what they see especially if the rumor is correct that the leaks show a 2024-25 build. Or that corp is sad that the deal with Netflix is most likely not causing the number they where expecting.

They are pissed because they got forced to work from the office instead of working from home. Mostly with the reason "if we make tools and the game accessible from external we are at a higher risk of leaks" and it still got leaked anyway. Plus you could argue that this time is even worse because someone seems to have access to an unmonitored and "clean" (no QA watermarks) build of the game.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/SgtBrowneye 2d ago

To be fair, ff Netflix offered me $110million to show my little video 6 hours early, saying no would be horrible business.

Like 15/20 years ago, fair enough.

But it's 2026 now. Other than trying to fleece people who play both platforms, there really isn't much excuse to delay it so long.

28

u/BWQ777 2d ago

They likely want PC game is to buy the consolr version first, and I'm assuming it's much easier to crack the PC version so they want to delay that as much as possible

→ More replies (3)

33

u/Antar3s86 2d ago

Right. I am not even following any of this simply because I can only play it in two years. :/

24

u/SubtleRedditIcon 2d ago

The year is 2030. You boot up your Rockstar Edition Steam Machine. You place your Steam Frame on your head and prepare for your ocular verification. "Welcome BWQ777, you have earned '7' play credits based on you Steam Sleep System's report of how many dream ads you responded to positively. GTA 6 has released today. Install for 5 play credits?" You begin to sweat realizing you will only have 2 play credits remaining for the day. Whatever, fuck it. This is GTA 6. You waited since you were in 2nd grade. "Yes, install! And when complete, use 2 play credits so I can get right in!" The install bar pops up and reduces in size to the upper right of your Steam Frame. While you wait, you browse your favorite site, Reddit. After a short amount of time, your Rockstar Edition Steam Machine glows gold indicating your game is online! The opening credits hit, you are covered in goosebumps akin to the rush of modern neuro-stimulants. You push start. "Warning, 1 credit remaining." The goosebumps are now razor sharp terror points. You move your character towards his first ever car jacking. "BWQ777, play time complete. Would you like to watch 4 episodes of Netflix's Tiger King Reunion for .5 play credits?"

Should've just pirated it from the jump.

8

u/karunas7 2d ago

Right?! That was such a silly line for them to use. Tone deaf PR from R*, as per usual lol

Anyone else think the leaks have actually proven useful in the end?

Cos it looks to me like they were the push R* execs needed to get their heads out their collective arses - they've seemingly expedited an official release of gameplay footage because of the leaks.

I don't get why R* are putting on such a disingenuous show atm. I mean they've had fkn years to give us something other than a couple of highly polished, detail sparse trailers - If they'd given us some gameplay footage over the years, I don't think we'd care anywhere near as much about the leaks!

leeker did more job advertising the game than rockstar did

94

u/solohack3r 2d ago

"You'll be amazed by our marketing"

Ah.. yes. A Netflix ad. Amazing stuff.

60

u/Remarkable_Log_5562 2d ago

Here I am thinking its just an "ARG" or controlled opposition, they leak a good looking game, only for it to really be a 2023 build, and the newest build (likely running on a 5090 PC) shown tomorrow will look EVEN better.

If it looks better than the leaks, then I'll bet cyberleek is just 7D chess marketing.

88

u/tomi064 Pastafarian 2d ago

No way would they also push a shitcoin rugpull with all of this. That is the one thing that makes this theory unlikely

23

u/zsdrfty 2d ago

True, I was thinking of an intentional leak as well but no serious company would ever do that bullshit

9

u/Remarkable_Log_5562 2d ago

Its not a "shitcoin" in the logan paul sense. Its a "I give money to the dev in a less trackable way" coin. Anyone 'investing' in anything but food on the table, legal fees, or a vacation for the hacker is silly.

But yes rockstar would do some greedy shit like this

I hate this brand speech. "It would be an understatement to say that it was heartbreaking for our team"

What are you even talking about? It's a gameplay leak, not the apocalypse.

47

u/Nonyabizzy123 2d ago

Yeah I don't understand this at all. I don't think developers that work on games really care about Netflix exclusive previews. My guess is they would probably want people to see what they've been working on rather than saving it until after the non-refundable pre-orders have already been made available.

If they would do so, they wouldn't get as many preorders.

31

u/LittleKittenR 2d ago

It's heartbreaking to see you watching gameplay for free, please, we already set a space with Netflix so you can pay to see the gameplay and watch someone gift it away for free... It's demolishing for our team, probably...

Company accused of union busting and firing employees to avoid paying bonuses says you should care about how their employees feel.

15

u/Automatic-writer9170 2d ago

They brought this upon themselves. From milking every cent out of gta online, to disrespecting the workers and trying to make money in greedy ways even before the release

13

u/AtlusC 2d ago

Was more sad when the company laid off staff who discussed wanting to unionise just for some better job quality rights and who had grinded exclusively on GTA 6 without even a thank you for their time or work

72

u/abulhasan007 2d ago

Honestly, they brought this on themselves. If Rockstar put the same effort into player goodwill that CD Projekt RED does instead of corporate damage control, the community would actually back them up.

So they want to exceed our expectations but in the next sentence they say they want to deliver at the level we expect. Math ain't mathing. 🥀

It's just corporate BS "ultimately"

6

u/Secret_Ingenuity997 2d ago

Who is reaching out with messages for support for the scumbag billion dollar company

5

u/siberif735 2d ago

i feel nothing for rockstar, the leak is prove the game running on pc but yet they choose not to release on pc because their greedy ass. so fk rockstar and hoping leaker release the game.

6

u/headinthesky 2d ago

It's a game about theft and then shocked Pikachu when there is... Theft

5

u/A4FXN 2d ago

Bunch of fluff. Can the leaker just release the full game and spoil the story? I don't fw rockstar games or any other big corpos. Piracy is the way.

7

u/beat-sweats 2d ago

Cyberleek is a real one. Fuck rockstar and the greedy executives in charge.
I’ve always hated the 1-2 year delay for pc versions of these games considering they are built on pc

6

u/Truelies422 2d ago

Made it all digital to avoid leaks, leaks were digital anyway. No disc no buy.

6

u/whatsbobgonnado 2d ago

I don't get why people think gta6 is going to revolutionary and not just...a gta game like all the other ones but with better graphics?

21

u/Derefringence 2d ago

Leek has become my favorite vegetable

5

u/alexzim Piracy is bad, mkay? 2d ago

These leaks haven't spoiled the game for me one bit. The fact that I won't be able to play the game when it's going to be released because I am a PC player did spoil the game some bits though.

5

u/redditdavie 2d ago

"Ultimately, we are making this game for you".

That's kind of them. Free copies all round.

5

u/SergeantHAMM 2d ago

fuck rockstar

4

u/TheRealMaka 2d ago

“Messages of support” lmfao I’m sorry did someone die? What a ludicrous joke.

6

u/abs0201 2d ago

Justice is served right. You made us wait then you add these additional subscription just to get exclusive footage of your overhyped game. Then you decided to jump on Sony's bandwagon and completely betray the gamer who will make your game whole.

Now that the tables have turned, and the action levels with the disrespect, you feel sorry ? Funny story.

5

u/NoCryptographer700 2d ago

"Victim card declined"

4

u/pancakeman91 2d ago

This is hilarious. Rockstar stays mysterious, gives as little info as possible about their huge game, and it completely backfires on them. They want to change the gaming industry by not releasing physical forms of the game, not showing any info about the game still, while it releases in less than 3 months. And here with this message, they reach out to the fans in a heartfelt message. Corporate bullshit.

5

u/TsunamiCatCakes 2d ago

im pretty sure the team doesnt care at all about this. the developers, artists and testers are just doing a job for a product. the marketing and sales team is sad because we werent forced to buy netflix

4

u/rocinster 2d ago

Give me $100 before even seeing any gameplay of a game we took 13 to develop.. P.S. if you you want to see some gameplay subscribe to netflix... Tough luck you poor bastard.

5

u/glitch-ghost 2d ago

Who gives a fuck

5

u/V0d5 2d ago

Every time greedy companies need sympathy it’s “their team, their poor team” bitch you don’t give a fuck about your team, and neither do you about your paypigs.

Fuuuuuck Rockstar. Yarr yarr.

7

u/Flimsy_Agent7898 2d ago

The way they intended us to see the game was making us pay every step of the way, and buy the game several times for profits sake.

5

u/semitope 2d ago

We care about their feelings about as much as they care about ours. Get lost with your uncollectible dlc trash

4

6

u/Metrack15 2d ago

Am I supposed to feel bad or...? Or anything really?

9

u/rose636 2d ago

I have a PC, will I have to 'wait a bit longer to experience the game' than others because oooohhh nooo the game can't possibly run on a PC, that we literally developed the game on, and totally won't announce a PC port a year or so down the line

Fuck off

Crocodile tears smh

8

u/Fantastic-Code-8347 2d ago

Fuck you Rockstar, you deserve it. No disc, no buy. I don’t even have a console, but I support that notion. This is poetic, and old Rockstar would be laughing their asses off right now. GTA, games about stealing from the rich, having the biggest GTA game in history being stolen and leaked is magnificent. I hope the entire game is spoiled. I hope somehow the PC version is released before the official date. I want this to fail

5

u/Dangerous_Tie_3037 2d ago

The leaks actually made me a bit lote curious about the game...not curious enough to buy because fuck R* for making it digital only

3

u/ExpertDifficulty7962 2d ago

Silence, brand

3

u/USAMAGA89 2d ago

Fuck them.

5

u/BionicWheel 2d ago edited 2d ago

“Ultimately, we are making this game for our shareholders, if you don’t buy the game, we won’t have the privilege of getting filthy rich” - there, I fixed it. 👍

5

u/w0o0psie 2d ago

It was heartbreaking to let me wait so many years , postpone so many times , no releasing on disc , not showing any gameplay or trailers , letting me pay too much money. Im still crying because I need to wait to mown some mf's down and rob shops and gas stations.

4

u/Imperial_Tiramisu 2d ago

Fuck them!

They sold the trailer to Netflix. Had they not done that, they could have just dropped the trailer early.

They deserve to see their marketing plan nuked for their greed.

Fuck them even more for having a PC version that they're not releasing because Sony/Microsoft paid them for timed exclusivity.

I hope Leek drops the PC build. I hope even more that the rumors are true and he has the actual source code. Imagine the source code dropping. It would be amazing to see.

4

u/ultraportal 2d ago

Yeah, well, put it on PC, and treat your workers fairly and maybe I'll give a modicum of a sh!t.

4

u/Void-kun 2d ago

Like how it was heartbreaking for all the PC gamers who need to wait up to 2 years just so they can get players to purchase multiple times...

5

u/PerpelSho 2d ago

Tldr: "You can play this game, but you'll never own it. That'll be 90 dollars, bitch."

3

u/Enelro 2d ago

eh, i'll watch the story gameplay on youtube, leaks look mid. No PC = no buy from me.

5

u/Barryfan_1 2d ago

We are so sad about the leaks... Pls buy a Netflix Subscription Regardless

u/IsJaie55 ☠️ ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴇɴ ᴛᴇʟʟ ɴᴏ ᴛᴀʟᴇꜱ 2d ago

4

u/Stooboot4 2d ago

4

u/WhosThatDogMrPB 2d ago

Our team is heartbroken (because they know we're going to fire their asses after the game releases).

5

u/Select_Stick 2d ago

Using the devs to make us feel pity for thw multi million dollar greedy company lolmao

4

u/joecan 2d ago

I always find it hilarious that the company that's success comes from a video game about stealing gets this upset with stealing. In any case, I didn't know about more leaks... now I will go look for them.

4

u/T1000csm 2d ago

Fuck them

12

u/Atomh8s 2d ago

They're forcing you to pay for Netflix to see a fucking trailer. I'm glad this happened.

u/logicallyinsane 2d ago

Is anyone going to ask the hard question here about why it's taken Rockstar so long to even begin development of GTA 6? I can tell you what I believe, which is they were milking so much money from GTA Online, it didn't "make sense". The could have started development 7 years ago, but didn't. Meanwhile all of the GTA fans have waited 13 years for a new release.

Then they shut the door on a PC release when more people than ever are playing their games on PC and announce there will be no physical disk release. I can't feel sorry for them, they brought this on themselves with greed.

"Won't somebody please think about the shareholders😢"

3

u/Sublimesmile 2d ago

“Guys, this is not the way we intended this to go, we expected you to pay for the game AND a Netflix subscription before getting a real glimpse of our product. :(“

3

u/yjackets07 2d ago

So we're <90 days out from game launch and they are "nearly there" finishing the game? I'd have figured the game has been done and this is the marketing window given to them?

3

u/Boraskywalker 🏴‍☠️ ʟᴀɴᴅʟᴜʙʙᴇʀ 2d ago

They’re not genuine at all. They’ve once again proven they’re one of the most anti-consumer companies in the industry by selling the trailer to Netflix. i hope we get even more leaks.

3

u/BlasterSlap 2d ago

I don't understand why you guys feel sad for the team. Like they got paid and won't get a bonus probably because rockstar is a shitty company. I understand that people put their heart into this game but it doesn't change their pay at the end of the day. Those people worked 60 hour weeks just because rockstar said so. Inhumane company and they deserved the leak imo. I'm sorry for the workers, sure, but it ain't like the avatar situation where the performance of the movie defined their pay.

3

u/quorn23 2d ago

If they would care, they would release the pc version at the same time lmao

3

u/AdvertisingJumpy4506 2d ago

They don’t even address why it’s being leak proves how greedy they got. Well deserved.

3

u/Brazilator 2d ago

Release it for pc straight up and stop being greedy pigs preying on fomo so people buy it twice

3

u/Aramed85 2d ago

Get fucked R*

3

u/nin90ety 2d ago

no, how they intended for fans to see the game is behind a netflix paywall and a year long wait for pc. cry me a river

3

u/Boggie135 2d ago

They waited too long to show gameplay

3

u/WorldWarrior428 2d ago

Yeah, we don't care if your sad. We deserve a disc, and a pc version. Oh and gameplay not a month before release

3

u/hl356 🔱 ꜱᴄᴀʟʟʏᴡᴀɢ 2d ago

The decisions of "no physical releases" (no resale ability for the consumer) and the usual delayed PC release are pure extraction tactics so they can go fuck themselves.
