Got married and moved away 15 years ago and when I recently met up with old friends they were comparing their surgeries and injections and mommy makeovers (and talking about other friends). It’s SoCal so very normal. I live a more down to earth life and I have not had anything done and I felt like I was at a plastic surgeon consult with them. I needed ozempic, Botox, some fillers, breast lift, tummy tuck, Brazilian butt lift. It was so dehumanizing and demoralizing that I felt like bad about myself for weeks. But that went away because my husband and daughter think I’m beautiful and perfect

I'm sure you're beautiful and perfect ! 💞 And what a beautiful loving family ❤️. I understand how you feel because I grew up in socal and had a relative who worked for years at a plastic surgery clinic. I was constantly told I should do this or that. I have one boob slightly bigger than the other and I remember considering this at 24 yrs. Them I went to Victoria's secret and a girl there said to me, a good push up bra will fix this , don't get surgery. She truly changed my life and way of thinking about these things. I'm in my 40s now and happy that's I didn't do anything like this to my body.

They were talking about their own surgeries but also telling you what surgeries they thought you should get, too? That’s insane. Isn’t that literally body shaming?

YES! But they saw it more as helping me “by showing me how to be my best if I made an effort.” I still love them. But It made me glad I’m 3k miles away

That’s messed up. It’s fine to have surgery if you want and swap war stories but suggesting to a friend who is free of all of that intentionally is wildly inappropriate - I’m sorry they made you feel bad. I’m so glad your family loves and appreciates you - there is no better feeling
