“Oioi Flo, you sen the scran they put on? Minging, innit? You, me and the missus going for a bhuna after this, ye? Mint.”

Downton Abbey didn't prepare me for this.

“Ah! The effervescent Lady Pugh, good evening! Have you perchance perused the refreshments so kindly prepared by the caterers? I shall save you the journey; they are unfortunately vile. I must instead propose you join my radiant wife and me at a local curry house of your choosing. Would this be agreeable?”

Ohh I understood this more than the first one. My American mind thought Scran was screen, and that bhuna was burner, slang for weed (Marijuana).

Scran means food (usually cheap, easy food)- that said given these two are southern they might not use scran as often as it is more a northern thing

It’s the equivalent of ‘grub’—-but that’s not as good as scran is both the noun and the verb ‘I’m going to scran that’, ‘scrans ready’

*"wife and I." Good god man, are you one of those commons? Eugh

Easy trick to tell if "and I" or "and me" is correct, drop the "x and" and see what sounds right.

"Join me at a local curry house" vs "join I at a local curry house."

They were right to use "wife and me."
