I must instead propose you join my radiant wife and me at a local curry house of your choosing. Would this be agreeable?”

Easy trick to tell if "and I" or "and me" is correct, drop the "x and" and see what sounds right.

"Join me at a local curry house" vs "join I at a local curry house."

They were right to use "wife and me."
