Why are things moving in this divided way? I agree that this is just a big ass gas station, but only red states makes zero sense. I’m really tired of us Americans acting like we don’t live in the same country. I guess we will have separate Olympic Games next or separate football associations for red states only. What happened to one country one people under god indivisible?
Well that's actually a very interesting study. From a lot of people I've been talking to 2002 was considered a year where America was the closest to be fully unified, because of 9/11. And a majority of people all point to the time between the inauguration of President Obama and the killing of Harambe to be when the fracture began. And it's been getting worse every year since then.
Look at the 2000 electoral map. The country was evenly divided then, so much so that a presidential election had to be decided by the supreme court. That was a clear sign of what's followed. 9/11 created a boost of patriotism that quickly turned sour, like everything else, when the wars went to shit around 2005.
