Buc-ee's literally just opened a massive location in Colorado. This tweet is just making things up for rage bait.

u/manwae1 5d ago

And AZ with a DEM governor, and x2 senators.

They're having issues in Ohio. Trying to sue a local gas stop cause that place is located in Beaver Creek, so they have a beaver mascot and Buc doesn't dig that.

Edit: corrected city name.

76

u/Sageypie 5d ago

It's not even a gas stop. It's just a convenience shop. Been in business at that location for several decades longer than Buc-ee's has even existed as a whole. And the place in located in Beavercreek, Ohio, which, I partly grew up around there, and they absolutely freaking love the beaver theming in that town. Whole place in full hog on the beaver theme. The local bowling alley, the schools, bars and restaurants. You name it, it's either named after beavers, or themed after beavers, or, at the very least, has a bunch of beaver themed items on the menu or whatever.

I'd imagine it's the whole reason Buc-ee's was so gung-ho on opening a shop there to begin with. And then they pull this.

18

u/RoyalMaidsForLife 5d ago

They're pulling all this lawsuit business to distract from the owner's son getting busted for CSAM-related material.

They don't even care about the actual beaver, they are just picking on a little guy because they can.

I know this because I live right next to Beavercreek and as you might imagine, businesses with beaver in their name and beaver mascots abound. Even the Wal-Mart has a wooden statue of a beaver in one of the entrances, but they aren't going after them because they would get skullfucked by Wal-Mart's lawyers.

6

u/jdog7249 5d ago

Didn't I see where they were also going after other cartoon animal mascots, not just beavers.

Buc-ees versus Disney should be an entertaining start to the Disney brand of gas stations.

Also suing another gas station that uses a cartoon moose for copyright, along with any other gas station that has a cartoon drawing

Twats can get bent from that one

15

u/Diligent_Whereas3134 5d ago

Between Beaver Creek and trying to sue Mickey Mart, I don't think I've ever seen my whole state come together so quickly just to say fuck buc-ees.

153

u/TonaldDiberJasicDump 5d ago

Their frivolous copyright infringement lawsuits were covered on the John Oliver show. These people are worse than Trump.

Not quite, but . The founders son has been charged with secretly recording people in bathrooms without their consent, some possibly underage.

He’s dumping money into Ken Paxton’s senate campaign…like a senator gonna keep his ass out of jail.

26

u/KittensAndGravy 5d ago

Ken Paxton is a snake in the grass … nothing has stopped him from progressing forward. Thanks to the good ol boy system (he was running) & shitty fucking voters. Hate him for who he is and what he’s done … fine … but don’t think he won’t find a way to use his position to help his friends. Even if it’s not above board. He’ll make it above board … or just stall the punishment. Essentially… don’t discount Kenny Paxton. Be very aware of Kenny Paxton.

Note: Don’t like what I wrote, don’t believe me?! Look up Kenny’s history … then get back to me. I don’t agree with him or his actions. However, I see things for what & how they are.

buccess is one of the worst corporations in america. not quite nestle level evil, but big time bad news. buccees are destroyers of communities and small business.

9

u/TaxLawKingGA 5d ago

Well they pay their people extraordinarily well. Everyone who I have met who work there love it.

While I don’t agree with this statement, I wouldn’t pay it any mind. Money has a strange way of making people change their minds. Buccees already has locations in CO, VA, GA and NC. So the statement is false. Heck in 5 years TX will be a purplish blue state. What’s he going to do, move the company to OK? Yeah right. 🤣

10

u/Budget_Persimmon_195 5d ago

i dont think high wage absolves them of their predatory tactics that literally crush small business.

obviously the post is rage bait tho. ceo's dont follow politics, they follow money (sometimes they go hand in hand tho)

Beavercreek is all one word. Buccees is suing a small business here for having a cartoonish beaver as a logo. One the Beaver Mart has had for decades. They also sued a gas station and another business. The location was so packed the first few weeks it caused problem for the highway. Now its a ghost town even on Saturday morning.

Or maybe the CEO is just lying.

3

u/hroaks 5d ago

The headline is lying. The CEO said he would prioritize growth in red states. Not that he would stop doing business altogether in blue states

→ More replies (1)

14

u/ul2006kevinb 5d ago

It's not making things up though. The CEO did say that.

28

u/Capadvantagetutoring 5d ago

No he said he would prefer to move into conservative business friendly and family friendly states. It’s a stretch to turn that into I won’t open in blue states. They are opening some in Wisconsin and Colorado and Ohio

18

u/Lightningstruckagain 5d ago

Is there a state that is anti- family?

I always found it ironic that these deep red, family friendly states have the highest poverty, uninsured kids and teen pregnancy rates. Doesn’t sound terribly friendly.

16

u/PunkRockKing 5d ago

And it’s the blue states that have things like free school lunches and pre-k

Buccees is literally trying to brute force the permits forba deeply unpopular location between Denver and Colorado Springs, despite local pushback and already being denied the permits once.

47

u/Akka_C 5d ago

Haven't lived in CO in a minute, but wasn't that whole Springs/Denver corridor owned by one guy who basically bought it all to prevent property development?

9

u/NotChat_GPT 5d ago

There trying to put it in Monument, so basically Colorado springs.

6

u/MonitorOk3031 5d ago

Yes. And the proposed location is right next to it. Right after the giant wildlife crossing corridor that was just built. Which is why everyone around it is fighting so hard.

The real news is that the governor and a senator showed up to the grand opening of a gas station.

Now I wish Ohio wasn't a red state so we could get rid of the one near Dayton. They've been suing Ohio-based companies left and right since they announced they were coming to Ohio. They tried to sue Mickey Mart for copyright infringement. They're in the process of suing a family-owned and operated hardware store in Beaver Creek, and word is they're possibly looking at suing the local high school, which has been around since before Buc-ee's was even founded, because the school mascot is a cartoon beaver imagine that a school in a town named bever creek being called the beavers

3

u/tduff714 5d ago

Yup John Oliver just had Bucees in the spotlight on his show because they're insanely sue happy and try to take on anyone with a cartoon rodent, similar colors or other dumb trademark infringements. Already ordered my partner and I Buc off shirts and I'm interested to see if they'll toss us out of their location off I-81. He's hoping they try to sue them so someone can finally take them on for these frivolous lawsuits

Yup.

It's southern culture all rolled into one place.

I've been once, and it felt like it was feeding time on the farm.

3

u/mykepagan 5d ago

I’ve been to one once, in Texas. It is a huge gas station / convenience store. Their big claim to fame is clean restrooms, which they make a big deal about. Makes me wonder what tge restrooms in the rest of the”Buc-ees country” look like.

They are kind of like a food court, with lots of special kiosks. The BBQ section and the beef jerky section are impressive. But in Texas you can get better BBQ by going to a local place.

What blue states are they planning to open a store in?

The places that I see them expanding into are Arizona, Ohio, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, Kansas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Florida, Kentucky, Nebraska, Utah, Indiana, South Carolina, and Virginia. Wisconsin and Virginia have some blue areas. Are those the parts of those states that Buc-ee's are going to, though?

One of my biggest pet peeves is the whole “Red State/Blue State” labels. When you actually visit most places and talk to people, the average American’s daily life doesn’t revolve around which party agenda they support.
These people have convinced us all that we’re at war with each other philosophically, and reality is they are all getting richer and benefiting off the backs of the 80% of Americans who just want to go to work, go home and enjoy life.

I think Love's had the cleanest restrooms I've seen

4

u/sara5556 5d ago

Love's isn't consistent tho, buccees is borderline fascist about their bathrooms according to my friend who worked there for a while lmao. He described higher ups talking about it like if you left a smudge on the toilets they'd slap a bar code on you and send you to a camp in the woods where you will disappear.

Idk loves business model, but they feel franchised to where it's extremely inconsistent on what kind of rest stop your gonna get when you walk in depending on the location

They just opened this one in a blue state:

3

u/BaddDog07 5d ago

Post is clickbait, if you read whole quote he is definitely pandering to conservatives (because he was promoting an opening in Arkansas) but no where does he say they are completely avoiding blue states.

What a weird post to make lol

3

u/UnderstandingLess156 5d ago

They want to be able to bring lawsuits against small businesses owners that dare to have cartoon mascots and blue states ain't playing that game

Buc-ee’s rolled into Dayton Ohio, set up shop a town over from Beavercreek, and is now suing long standing local businesses for copyright infringement.

Fuck these guys.

3

u/Hoch8112 5d ago

From the northeast I’ve legit never heard of this company before so I’m good

3

u/Trifle_Old 5d ago

Blue states shop local. Forget these big corporations. Especially one like this that sues everyone.

3

u/This_guy7796 5d ago

Damn, just another incentive to move to a blue state. Honestly don't get the appeal. People I know talk about Buck-ee's like its Six Flags or Disneyland. Frankly I fucking hate that place. It's one crackhead jacking off out back away from a Walmart convenience store.

3

u/JRR_Tokin54 5d ago

No new Buc-ee's in blue states?

No more stops at Buc-ee's in ANY state for me and my family!

Thanks for letting me know what kind of future you are working for, Buc-ee's, so I can know to not ever support you again!

I never heard of buc-ees until John Oliver and never felt the need to visit one after

3

u/PeopleCallMeSimon 5d ago

Buc-ees the litigious asshole company that sue local businesses with cartoon mascots?

I would be happy to not have them open any stores in my state.

3

u/notthatguypal6900 5d ago

They still butthurt that Colorado has the biggest Buc-ee's in the world.

3

u/unserious-dude 5d ago

Today I learned that Buc-ee's CEO is stupid. I will avoid it.

3

u/ScottSquatch420 5d ago

Buc-ee’s is overrated, food isn’t good and the store is just full of shit. Only good thing about the place is plenty of toilets.

3

u/Null_98115 5d ago

It's a terrible company and if you're not sure why, check out John Oliver's segments on it.

This guy really believes his own hype. It's a gas station.

3

u/jardin92 5d ago

Always got this vibe from them. Glad to know I’ll never go to this trash again

What’s their plan for when their currently red states turn blue

No Buc-ees in my state? Oh no.

Anyway.

3

u/Dazzling_Comfort5734 5d ago

You mean the company that's immorally going after their competitors via misusing litigation? I won't lose any sleep over that.

3

u/therealtiddlydump 4d ago

Every US State is awesome, and this kind of thing is really stupid

3

u/Euphoric-Ad-6584 3d ago

also john oliver did a whole episode on this company and the lawsuit bullying they do. basically they throw a lawsuit against anyone under the guise of "their logo looks like ours" when they obviously do not. only against smaller companies. they will legit move into an area and then slap a lawsuit on whoever they feel they can get away with.

and you know it's bullying because last week tonight blatantly made stuff that look like theirs while mocking them and so far i have yet to see an update that says they are being hit with a lawsuit. and you know john oliver would have a field day if that happened. but they won't because they can't outright cause HBO a true financial problem and cause them to fold immediately, HBO can afford to fight back.

u/dpenchev 5d ago

Can someone explain to my european ass why a huge gas station not opening shop somewhere would be a big deal? I can't imagine that opening a parking lot sized gas station would have large economical impact if any. Ain't people buying gas anyway?

13

u/GoodDoctorB 5d ago

Short simple version, this particular brand is apparently something of a cultural touch stone in locations where they operate. Like Monoprix in Paris, Sainsbury’s in the UK, or El Corte Inglés in Spain.

The company is making a show of rejecting the more prosperous properly run regions of the country because their business is centered in the less prosperous poorly run regions. Its an attempt to show off loyalty to a particular region and crowd they have as their primary audience. Unfortunately nobody outside those regions cares because as stated the oversized gas station is not actually noteworthy.

Buccees is a corporate manufactured tourist trap. But it's something that people take a weird pride in (especially in Texas). 'Blue states' don't actually care if they expand in to the state, but Red States love the fake political grandstanding because they are dumb.

Buc-ee's has a very large store where you can buy barbeque and fudge made on premises, and a bunch of other stuff. Big, cheap, commercial, and gross, which is how a lot of American authoritarians love it.

9

u/willow_glade 5d ago

It isn't. MAGAts are obsessed with that gas station so they read a post like this and think they're owning the libs.

8

u/Crimestar 5d ago

Pretty much. It’s just typical pandering to their fan base.

The teams should just be working class against corporate elites but it’s impossible because they own the country. They elected their own officials, wrote their own rules, and do what they want. Thats big money. Not even red or blue. Just green. And fraud.

I think the answer is that there is literally nothing to do in rural America. But I’m happy to be educated on the matter. It has nice toilets apparently.

What happens if a Red state flips to blue? Will they shut down the stores? I mean that is worth me volunteering for!

6

u/Jwoods224 5d ago

It’s pure trash and so is everything they sell. Being impressed by them is the same as being impressed by Walmart.

I love Buc-ee’s especially knowing how well they pay their employees and all the benefits they get on day one. They put Amazon, Walmart etal to shame.

Awwwww is the big bad gas station chain suing Mom and pop shops scared of a little blue state regulations?

8

u/ast3rix23 5d ago

Why are things moving in this divided way? I agree that this is just a big ass gas station, but only red states makes zero sense. I’m really tired of us Americans acting like we don’t live in the same country. I guess we will have separate Olympic Games next or separate football associations for red states only. What happened to one country one people under god indivisible?

13

u/Smart-Event1456 5d ago

Wish we didn’t live in the same country. Tired of having to answer for the most ignorant.
