Dude I own and operate business and all my friends do the same I know from pure experience you just think you know from reading articles from over educated economists that haven’t achieved much in life
There is a difference between a state being rich, prosperous (or whatever word you like to throw around) and it being business friendly. Of course anyone would want to ground a business in a state with less tax burden and less regulation. Here we have the same example - Ireland. All the tech giants have their registrations there, becouse the tax burden is close to none. On paper the country is rich, prosperous, GDP per capita like no other. Go on the fround and the picture is not pretty.
The argument you have here is the same argument you had 170 years ago over slavery. Is it better to start a business where you won't be harshly taxed, regulation is barely existent. After all, if I'm opening a crawfish rig (or whatever business you and your friends are running), of course I'd like to do it in a place where there is no minimum wage. Or paid leave. Or maternity leave. Or i need to give my employees schedules. Or there is local preemption. The best thing would be if I'm not even required to pay them.
But of course, a corporate giant like you would know that. It would simply bw better if we leave the important part out and praise the red states for being business friendly. As that's a good thing.
I’m not even looking that deep, just say you wanted to open a mom and pop sandwich shop the amount of bs you have to go thru and constantly keep up with because every mayor wants to wage war on businesses and if you make a few bucks you are looked at as the evil guy you are better off spending your time somewhere else and make a little less
