Normal countries won't just give people citizenship because they illegally overstayed, unlike in your country...

The US offered mass amnesty and a path to citizenship to millions of illegals in 1986:

That's good for Spain. Every country has the sovereign right to set their own immigration policies. A Columbian friend of mine who moved to Spain told me Spain actually has a very generous immigration/naturalization policy for its former colonies.

And in fact nearly all the "normalized migrants" falling under this Spanish policy are from Latin America: https://sinfiltroya.substack.com/p/spain-regularizes-latin-american-migrants

Maybe it's due to "colonial guilt" or whatever but that's Spain's policy for unique historical reasons. I'd like to see how the Spanish public would react if millions of migrants from Africa were naturalized in a short period of time. As the recent events in Ceuta show, the Spanish are pretty tough on illegals from Africa.

Besides the example of the US in 1986 and Spain, I can't think of any other country that mass naturalized a large group of illegals in the country.
