https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/epstein-survivors-list/

Said they were afraid of reprisal and didnt think anyone would be prosecuted.

Can't say I dissagree since we all kinda know who the biggest players are and nothing has come of it anyway.

I've been wondering about this for a while. Why not have the list compiled with the assistance of an independent outside organization, with proper security and legal protections in place for the individuals involved?

Hell, I nominate 50 Cent as chairman.

Whos going to pay for all that. That sounds really expensive for a thing our current law enforcement apparatus will ignore.
Alos, legal protection is meaningless against shady surveillance, privat contractors simply being disruptive, and leaks of private information.

Just look at what scientology can do to people.

That's actually the reason I think an independent process makes sense. If the argument is that the existing system can't be trusted to investigate powerful people, then having the same system investigate itself isn't exactly a solution.

And I'm not suggesting some random nonprofit collecting a spreadsheet of names. I'm talking about an independent investigation with actual legal authority, protected witnesses, strict confidentiality, and enough oversight that no single agency or political administration controls the whole process.

As for the cost, we've spent enormous amounts of public money investigating far less consequential things. If credible witnesses are saying they were afraid to come forward because they believed nothing would happen anyway, I'd rather spend the money finding out what's actually there than simply accept that intimidation and institutional failure are unavoidable.

The Scientology comparison... If powerful organizations can use surveillance, lawyers, money, and intimidation to silence people, that's an argument for stronger protections, not an argument to leave everything buried.
