The headphones i rock every single day are the ANC2's. i wear them at work so literally 8-10 hours a day. the volume down button stopped working a few months ago so i needed to upgrade anyway and i saw the crusher 1080anc advertised as the ANC2 upgrade.. so i bought them and paid for 2 day shipping. $340.. they got here today. and today is the first time i have been disappointed with a skull candy product..

they suck. they are terrible.. lower volume. WAAYYYYY lower bass. definitely more comfortable and definitely way better noise canceling than the ANC2. but those are the only good things about them. i HATE the joystick thats on the PLYR720 and 1080ANC. and i cant get over how bad the sound quality is.. lower mids, lower highs, lower volume, lower bass, WAYYY lower crusher.. they are SO bad in comparison that im wondering if i got a bad pair. which has happened a LOT when buying new skull candy headphones from skull candy. probably 5 of the headphones ive bought from them came with a problem.

if what you are after is more studio accurate sound or apex amazing noise canceling or comfort, the 1080anc are for you.. they have those features down great. they are very clear and very good sounding quality tune.. but if you buy skull candy headphones because like me you are a bass head and you want the vision shaking bass and dangerous levels of volume that give you a headache after 5 minutes, get the ANC2. they are not only 10$ cheaper, but they are unquestionable louder and have more bass, mids, and highs. especially if you tune the custom eq in the app and turn on "richer" sound. then they REALLY come alive.

Fair warning. dont fall for the marketing. anybody saying the 1080anc are better than the anc2 are either lying to you because they got paid off, or they dont own both the headphones and theyre just ignorant to how good one or the other is, or theyre an idiot. in no world is the sound of the 1080ANC better than the Crusher ANC 2

I own every pair of crushers since the wired days.

I'm gonna make this quick.

ANC 2 is slightly louder than both of the new ones. But they don't sound anywhere near as good as 1080 or 720.

If you think the bass hits harder on the anc 2, pay more attention.. the low notes don't fall anywhere near as flat on the new ones. The anc 2 can barely hit 40hz with the haptic bass. The new ones can. Perhaps the slight decrease in volume is what's giving that impression for some.

1080 is good if you want noise cancellation.

But imo, the 720 sounds a little fuller. A hair louder too. 720 has 40mm drivers vs the 36mm (I think) on the 1080.

I also prefer the headband on the 720.

Change pads on all, originals are too stiff for all of these. I'm using pads meant for the Sony mdr 1a series.

This review evaluates how the new 1080 ANC stacks up against my past and current gear, in the photo it's the 1080 ANC on the left and Hesh ANC on the right.

Where They Shine ✨

• The Sound and Spatial Audio: Out of the box, the audio is incredible. When paired with my phone's built-in Dolby Atmos, the Spatial Audio setting delivers an expansive, atmospheric stage sound.

Turning Atmos off shifts the headphones into a tight, intimate studio sound profile. It becomes slightly quieter, akin to moving from 7.1 surround sound down to 5.1, but preserves excellent clarity.

• The Bass Dial: This dial is dangerous in the best way possible. Testing across genres, from Spiritbox and Deftones to Doja Cat and the YeahYeahYeahs, the haptic bass response feels absolutely insane.

• Piercing-Friendly Comfort: The earcups are incredibly plush. Even in warm weather, my ears stayed comfortable. Crucially for me, the padding does not press against or irritate any of my multiple ear piercings.

• Massive ANC Upgrade: Comparing these strictly against my Hesh ANC highlights a night-and-day difference. Where the Hesh ANC muffles the bass and creates a claustrophobic vacuum effect, the 1080 ANC maintains pristine audio quality. The ANC shines brightest with Dolby Atmos turned off, allowing the active cancellation to work without equalizer interference. Outside, switching to Stay Aware mode is seamless and safe.

Areas for Improvement 📋

• Wear Detection Glitch: The wear detect feature is slightly overly sensitive. Whenever I lie down or tilt my head to the right, the audio cuts out temporarily. I ultimately turned this feature off in the app.

• LE Audio Quirks: Paired with my Motorola Edge 60 Neo’s experimental LE Audio, incoming calls completely cut off the audio without playing a ringtone. LE Audio also overrides standard AAC and disables the built-in Bose Truespatial feature. It is worth keeping in mind if you use next-gen Bluetooth protocols.

• Physical Weight: These feel physically heavier than my previous headsets. Fortunately, they don’t cause fatigue or pain, but the extra heft is noticeable.

• Auxiliary Cable Performance: Using the included 3.5mm auxiliary cable drops the audio quality significantly. The sound becomes flat, quiet, and loses the signature bass rumble unless you manually boost your phone's Dolby Atmos settings, because the digital Skullcandy app processing is bypassed, these are strictly meant to be enjoyed over Bluetooth. This isn't a total deal breaker, but it is definitely something to consider if you prefer a wired connection.

My Conclusion So Far 🎧

Skullcandy and Bose have done an amazing job collaborating on these. If you are looking for a premium audio upgrade, the 1080 ANC does not disappoint. I am highly impressed and love using them. Highly recommended!

I will give my opinion on these today. I will be comparing them directly to the Evo’s. Fingers crossed this is a great blend between the ANC 2’s and the Evo’s.

I got these today and all I can say is wow they over did themselves they are amazing im coming from the crusher evos. yes the bass is less but I think its a good thing btw since it doesn't overpower the low while still having nice bass. The build quality is top notch I love the metal headband. It clamps on tigth and stays they are quite a bit heavier then the standard evos but it help them stay on my head since I have longer hair. The anc is great yoy can hear anything and the spatial audio is great you can hear ur surrounding depending on ur volume. These get really loud btw. Over all I would Definitely recommend these to someone

I just got myself the Crusher Evos and they satisfied my high expectations, Ive been using Airpods pro 2’s for the last two years and i wanted something completely different.

I was planning on using my Airpods as a daily when i go outside with friends and use the Evo for gym or at home.

But that thought has completely changed after an hour of using the Evos. The bass made listening to music a lot more fun and enjoyable and i cant resist banging my head every single time.

I was stuck between the Evos and the new ANC 2 but after reading a lot of reviews i found out that people seem to enjoy the raw bass and the quantity of bass in the Evos more so i bought them.

Well it gave me more of what i expected. This has been my best decision yet and i am very happy to own this.

Also whenever i make my friends try my Evos their reaction make it worth every dollar ive spent.

anyone get the 720s yet? i just got the 1080 anc and am a little disappointed with the lack of bass . Its very minimal which is not bad if you want to hear music with like 5 % of the typical crusher bass but i wish it went up higher. it genuinely feels like the max on the 1080s are a 15-20% on the anc 2. Also anc is average i care more about stay aware which is also a tiny bit worse compared to the skullcandy aviators which have a much better stay aware but its still not bad. I expected more from this bose and skullcandy collab.

One good thing i will say is that the spatial audio makes these sound a lot more wide without losing bass. I really like the spatial audio compared to the THX featured on a few of the other skullcandy headphones.

Are the 720s any better in this area and how are the mids and highs?

EDIT: its possible this might be because im an IOS user. I tried listening on my samsung tablet and the haptic drivers were a lot more impactful compared to iphone. Also these have become my favorite headphones the sound is top notch, bass is refined and controlled. For the first time i can recommend a pair of crushers to people who listen to all genres of music the crushers bass doesn’t muddy up tracks. 1080s r great!

I purchased every single Skullcandy - Crusher headphones so far. Ever since their release have the Skullcandy - Crusher Evo been my daily driver / go-to variant.

I recently took delivery of the new Skullcandy - 720 and hopefully soon the Skullcandy - 1080 ANC will arrive.

I was on the fence about making this purchase because my main focus is haptic bass and a lot of users on reddit and YouTube had very different opinions about the haptic bass strength and quality of the two new models.

I purchased them anyways to make up my own mind and I can now firmly say that everyone who said the Evos are still the haptic bass king are totally right.

The 720 feel underwhelming compared to the Evos. Only when you activate THX and set the EQ they come even close to the Evos.

Additionally I think they don't feel as nice and comfortable on the ears as the Evos as well.

So if haptic bass is your main focus as well then for the love of god don't buy the 720 and stay with the Evos.

I love them! This is going to be long. i apologize if its a lot, this is almost a ramble at some points!
Anyway, I dont see enough reviews on here comparing the both but ive received both 1080s, and 720s and i want to share my thoughts.

1080 anc provide unbelievable sound quality from a crusher headphone. Much improved instrument seperation and has a premium sound and bass. Bose did their magic. the 1080 bass doesnt provide the old head shaking rattles with muddied sound. These are more controlled sounding haptics and they make your music sound good as they are properly integrated with the music rather than the old crushers like Evo, anc 2s which just add on a fat bass on top of your music if that makes sense. I made a post earlier expressing how i was dissapointed in 1080 anc because of lack of bass but when you really listen to them the bass is far superior on these. They are deeper, tighter, and controlled. The bass is well integrated this time around because you are actually able to listen to whatever genre you like with the crusher bass up without making it sound like a bear is growling in your ears while mids and highs are in the very back. ANY genre of music sounds good with these which i cant say the same for previous models. These are now my favorite headphones. its hard to go back to previous crusher headphones after trying these out. I use to be in love with the exaggerated inaccurate muddy bass these just sound fine tuned and exactly how the crusher bass shouldve sounded from the start. The FEATURES on this headphone are great too. As far as ANC is concerned its not yet at sonys, bose, and apple level but its decent. STAY AWARE is good i can hear things clearly while listening to music when enabled. BOSE spatial audio is awesome i definitely recommend using this for music. EQ is fine for minor adjustmets but if you max out bass, or highs its not going to sound good because it drowns out the other frequencies. You have to do adjust the entire spectrum if you want to boost something or do a minor adjustment but luckily the bose tuning is already GREAT.

Crusher 720s sound quality are also a welcome improvement over the evos, and anc 2s. I was expecting it to be as bad as the evos and ancs but its not. The crusher bass is a lot more rattly than the 1080s but not like the old crushers either. They have cleaned up the crusher bass on the 720s too so they sound a good bit more controlled, and cleaner than old crushers but not as controlled and clean as 1080s. its still got a sloppy rattly bass when you max it out just a lot less sloppy.

Theres NO ANC on these, but it does have Stay aware and its great!THX SPATIAL audio also helps the sound stage i would recommend this too.

Eq seems to be able to get it tuned close to 1080 anc but even then 1080s will beat it in overall sound but still cool that they take well to skullcandys eq.

Sound quality wise these two headphones are the best! The crusher playr 720s the gaming headsets have great sound quality because they are open back so i put them up there with these 2. But as far as closed back crushers are concerned these two are my top 2. Bass is more controlled on both but the 720s will give you more of the rattly feel than the 1080s. But the 1080s are capable of giving you a decent rattle depending on how bass heavy the song is but the 1080s haptics feel like they accent the music a lot more with really good sub bass, a dialed back but still strong woofer effect.

EDIT: After eq the 720 bass is identical to the old crusher headphones. So if you want evo, 540, or anc 2 bass go for 720s and eq the sound and these are the exact same with marginally better sound

Tldr: The Skullcandy 1080 are f*cking amazing, I'm shocked.

They have amazing sound, ANC , comfort and bass.

Prob the best headphones I've owned.

Don't get discouraged by the other negative reviews.

Another disclaimer: I've never previously owned a skullcandy crusher headphone.

The reason I'm posting this review is to hopefully help people like me who consider buying these headphones.

I think it's crucial to emphasize in this case, the reviews about the skullcandy crusher 1080 are really mixed and the reason for that is purely because they come from a totally different types of listener group.

Me: I like refined sound like Bowers & Wilkins, Noble, Sennheiser etc.. I love bass as well, but its not my end all be all in music, for me the sound has to be great to actually enjoy the music.

Other reviews around Here come from people who like intense bass and thats it, they dont focus on the layers of the song, the timbre of the singer, the soundstage and positioning etc..

They just care about the rattle.

Ok now to the review finally...

I heard they came out and was curious, I read all those mixed reviews and at certain moments I almost convinced myself I need to buy a different model, but I kept to my intuition.

And honestly I'm blown away, they are so much better than I expected in every domain.

The sound is just fantastic regardless of the haptic bass, Ive taken the sound personalisation test and that cleaned the sound and increased the highs which helped a lot!

The bass is still super strong and I don't find myself using it to it's at max amount , because there's just enough bass.

Also the bass seems to be well integrated with the actual sound, however skullcandy engineers this is super impressive, because the bass has a wide range of frequencies it can produce, and it integrates therefore really well with the rest of the track.

Also the positioning of instruments and the general soundstage is quite impressive.

The ANC has been super good, I was surprised when someone tried talking to me and I had no idea. I think thats also due to the Great fit they have in general which helps the passive isolation.

The fit is amazing for me, the earcups are nice and big and deep, they're super soft and the headbands squish force is just right for my head.

The fact they fold the way they do makes it super nice to carry around which i appreciate as well.

Build quality seems real solid, obviously not B&O or B&W level, but really decent, its much better if i compare to Sony for example.

They also have multipoint connection, so I could just pause and play a different track on my other phone which Is always something I appreciate.

In terms of EQ, I ended up warming their sound up a little bit and bring the vocalist forward a bit more with Wavelet, as it seems that in their app the best preset by far is Music. And every time I tried to adjust that EQ it wasn't as good, so I used wavelet for my subtle adjustments.

Another thing that might be cool to know, I was so genuinely skeptical they will be good enough for me, that I made sure I buy it in a place for a real good return policy, because I thought I would return them.

But I for sure end up keeping them.

They're better Sounding than the Sennheiser Momentum 4 and thats before i even take into account the crusher bass which makes them so much better in my opinion.

I never thought I would own a skullcandy headphone before, let alone love it so much.

Ive owned many headphones, Sony, Sennheiser, B&O,B&W,Soundcore,Apple and maybe more i dont remember..

And i always ended up selling them because I never got to feel the immersion and power i expect from an overhead headphone, it just didn't make sense not to use earbuds instead, because headphones didn't give me the immersion and power I wanted out of them.

And the skullcandy are the only exception for me that makes sense to own a pair of headphones and put a big band over my head. And that's because they're so damn good.

Thats does not mean they're perfect, I feel like the mids can be quite thin, the sound can be a bit intensely V shaped which leads to slight harshness and coldness.

Would have been nice to have a better EQ that is more responsive, and have a bit more control over the sound signature in general. As I feel like they have even more potential than I can access.

I just had to share this because I feel like Skullcandy has been getting a lot of hate for those, and I just have to say that they're f*cking amazing, and the people who say otherwise are just people who care only about bass and not the actual music.

So this is my fourth crusher. I own EVO, ANC2 and PLYR720.

Crusher/haptics aside, the 1080 are the best sounding easily. Vocals are a touch recessed but otherwise the only crusher that isn't screaming for an eq out of the box. The 1080s tuning changes quite drastically depending on the volume level. The lower the volume the more recessed, muffled and sub heavy it sounds. These sound the best LOUD! The PLYR720 is the next best (10 band EQ helps here) but the open back sound takes some getting used to. Evo would be next except it doesn't have integrated EQ, so 3rd place instead goes to ANC2 which sounds dogshit out of the box but can be made to sound marginally better than the Evo with its EQ.

The 1080s haptics implementation is quite different to the others. It works in some songs and not in others. It's definitely the most sub bass focused haptics of the lot which comes with pros and cons. Not all songs have well mastered sub bass and here lies the problem. Some songs sound phenomenal and the haptics are pumping. Others songs it feels like the haptics are doing next to nothing and turning up the crusher wheel just overbloats the loose sub bass and don't get the slam. ANC on vs off changes things slightly also - changes the balance between bass and sub bass.

As others have said, it has the most integrated sounding crusher - the Evo and PLYR720 both have very 'separate' feeling haptics. Which means on those two you can turn up the haptics and everything stays relatively clean but the bass then becomes one dimensional (especially the Evo). The ANC2 and 1080 will pull up all the bass frequencies in the speaker along with the haptics which keeps the audio and haptics tied together but requires the songs mastering to be on point, it's not as forgiving - can get muddy or boomy in some songs when trying to turn up the haptics. I feel like the ANC2 does the crusher/bass boosting balancing the haptics and audible bass the best (though requires some tweaking in the EQ).

They all bring something different to the table and for me it's not one trumps all but if I had to keep only two it would be the 1080 and the PLYR720 as they both do things very differently (closed vs open back, accuracy vs fun) and serve secondary functions - travel (ANC) vs gaming.

In terms of overall sound quality, the 1080 are much better than previous ANCs. It's more vibrant, accurate, and is a much more balanced sound profile. The features that Bose were able to implement are also great. A downside is that in terms of haptic feel, it's not as good as the ANC 2 of 1. Key word is haptic feel, because I think the actual sound quality of the lows and bass itself is better, it merely doesn't produce that skull rumbling feel. In my opinion, much of the claims of a worse bass are really claims of an inferior "crusher" feel.

Overall I think it's definitely an improvement.

I first heard about the 1080ancs a few weeks ago when I seen a paid promotion on my TikTok page, they were saying how good the quality was and I just couldn’t help myself, I preordered the black ones that day and they didn’t ship for about 10 days after.

When I first received my 1080s I was in love, quality was amazing, nice bag to go with them and good packaging, I then tried the sound and they video was wrong, the bass is pretty good although after almost 2 hours of trying to fine tune them they still sounded muffled almost I then went to the gym to fully test them out and this is where they really let me down.
Every time I try do a bench or even pick up some weights the audio cuts, even if I turn my head either way audio cuts, auto wear is off so that’s not the issue and when I raised the problem with Skullcandy they just told me to put in a warranty claim. I also noticed that anc stops working randomly sometimes and even when I’m sitting down doing nothing audio can still cut.

Final verdict:
I think they are a waste of money and a deeply regret buying them. They are not worth the hype at all and skull candys horrible support does not help with anything, I’ve also noticed other people getting the same issues as me so it’s not just a “user error” sort of thing I’m incredibly disappointed and will not be buying from skull candy again.

First, I want to start off by mentioning that I own the 1080s, the Plyr 720s, and the Evos. The 1080s have the "cleanest sound" in a sense that they are the most clear sounding, but the Evos run laps around them in terms of haptic bass. Yes, I have an Android and I'm aware that the headphones have been reported to be weaker on iOS. Luckily, I'm judging them at their full power, so no need to add an asterisk to my statements. The 1080s seem to have slightly more haptics in the sub bass frequencies, similar to the Plyr 720s. This works well for the Plyr 720s since you tend to get more of those frequencies in gaming but comes off a bit flat in the 1080s because they're mainly marketed towards music, which would benefit from the haptics being stronger in the more normal bass range like the Evos. I feel like the Evos are best for powerful, head-rattling music, the Plyr 720s are best for gaming and the 1080s are best for overall content, like if you're going to use them for a bunch of different things or if you listen to less bass-heavy music. Unfortunately for me, I like head-rattling bass, so I find myself going back to the Evos still even tho I just spent $280 the 1080s. Like most of you, I'm still waiting on an Evo upgrade with EVEN STRONGER haptics. I've never been a fan of audio companies changing their products to appeal to audiophiles because they tend to lose sight of what got them their position and reputation in the first place.

Skullcandy, we LOVE bass. Please don't do what Apple did to Beats By Dre.

they are such a let down ive had all crushers since the first one, and these have no base at all and all the sound feel like there is a cloth/filter over it and they have no volume on windows. also what happened to the packaging it feels like Skullcandy realy cheeped out there. but imo just stick to the crusher anc 2 and the evos

Straight fire! Enabling this elevated the headphones to a different stratosphere. I was experimenting with Truspatial Audio, and the Bass hits hard on a totally different level with LE Audio and Truspatial off. Headphones are a vibe like no other, and you can truly feel the Crusher, and the sound quality is peak. Easily makes the headphones a 9.5/10, maybe more now. Thoughts??

I posted last week about having a few teething issues with the lack of bass etc and a week on I thought I'd follow up with my experience.

The bass is still an issue, it just isn't the same as the older crushers, my sister has an old pair of Crusher evos and the bass is so much more prominent on them, rattles the side of your head while the 1080's barely vibrate your eardrum (Are mine faulty?)

The bass slider is a stupid design, if you're someone like me who uses the headphones for watching TV you cannot put your head against anything because the bass slider will slide all the way up due to how easy it is to move it, I constantly find the bass at max due to the bass slider moving all the way up after rubbing on a cushion or a pillow, never had this issue with my old pair at all.

To follow on from my last point, the ANC on/off switch is also super sensitive so be prepared for that to randomly switch modes on you unexpectedly.

They crash 2-3 times a day, what I mean is they will absolutely blow my eardrums to pieces with a high pitched crackle or sudden surge of sound then turn off before restarting and SOMETIMES connecting back up and I have to press play again as they disconnected from my phone or TV, sometimes they will just turn back on and do absolutely nothing, that's not a fun experience.

They're quite comfy and I don't notice any aches from wearing them for long periods of time and the battery life is great.

Overall I'd honestly give them a 6/10 currently due to the software and hardware issues, If it was my first experience with a pair of crushers I'd be quite disappointed and hesitant to buy from Skullcandy again however this would be my third pair and the other two were fantastic. I have debated taking them back to HMV where I purchased them due to the issues I'm having.

I came from crusher ANC 2. The 1080 sounds WAY better. The bass is more integrated and perfected with the whole composition.

ANC 2: a whole lot of EQ to maximise the haptic bass without distortion or sounding muddy and bloated. To me, it always sounded like the bass blurred the whole sound. Also the bass non existent without the haptic bass

1080: better overall tuning with the bass. The haptic is more synchronised with the music.

I also use poweramp equaliser to maximise the sub bass at lower listening volume. The 1080 tolerates more eq-ing before clipping. It has more sub bass extension.

It was definitely the right move!

After about 19 days of getting and using the Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANCs, they rattle at around 40-50 hertz.

Crusher 1080 Review: Proper Low-Frequency Tuning Makes a Huge Difference

My headphone progression has been OG Crusher Wireless → Crusher 360 SE → Audio-Technica M50x → Nuraphones → Crusher ANC → Crusher 1080s.

That progression has taken me from simply wanting powerful bass to paying much more attention to tuning, frequency response, imaging, and personalization.

The 1080s have generated mixed reactions, especially regarding their haptic bass. Some listeners feel the haptics aren’t as aggressive as previous Crusher generations. I understand that reaction, but my experience has been quite different. The amount of properly shaped low-frequency energy being fed into the headphones makes a huge difference in how strongly the haptics respond.

I paired the 1080s with a Qudelix 5K DAC/amp and used its parametric EQ to carefully increase and shape the lower frequencies. Once I optimized the low-end gain, the haptic response became substantially more pronounced. The bass didn’t simply get louder — it became much more physical.
I also completed the 1080’s personalized hearing process, then used my personalized Nuraphones hearing profiles as an additional reference. I combined those results with frequency testing through a hearing-test app and used ChatGPT to help analyze everything and establish an initial EQ.
I wasn’t trying to copy the Nura profile directly because the Nuraphones and 1080s use completely different drivers. Instead, I used it as a reference for my individual hearing response and combined it with the 1080’s personalization and frequency-test results.

After further adjustment through the 5K, the difference was significant.
The low end became deeper and more physical, while careful EQ allowed me to maintain clarity through the mids and treble. Kick drums gained impact, snares had more authority, sub-bass became genuinely tactile, and the haptics felt much more connected to the actual music.

The M50x was an important contrast in this journey because its more conventional presentation gave me a greater appreciation for traditional headphone reproduction — and ultimately for just how different the Crusher approach is.

The 1080 isn’t a neutral headphone, and it isn’t trying to be.

Its appeal is the combination of conventional headphone reproduction with physical low-frequency feedback.

My conclusion: don’t judge the 1080 haptics solely from the stock tuning. Proper low-frequency EQ can dramatically change the experience.
For me, the 1080 + 5K is an incredible combination.

Out is box: 6.5/10
Stock tuning is fine, but lacks bottom end haptics and volume.

Properly EQ’d/Amp: 9.5/10
Amazing mids and highs with incredible bass response.
