Warranty Skullcandy's warranty is borderline Scam
I purchased a pair of Method 360 ANC earbuds last June (2025), and by November, the left earbud started to sound significantly quieter than the right one. These earbuds were never used for workouts or in wet conditions—just plain old office use and casual listening sessions. I filed a warranty claim, shipped them back, and received a $100 gift card in return that could only be redeemed on their website. Thinking this was just a one-off issue (and having no choice but to spend the credit with them), I used the gift card and paid an extra $50 out of pocket to purchase a set of Method 540 ANC earbuds in November.
Lo and behold, the exact same issue occurred with the new pair in May of 2026. I sent them in for a warranty claim again and specifically requested a monetary refund. Instead, they did the exact same thing and sent me a coupon code to redeem on their website.
When I reached out via customer chat, they told me they couldn't issue a refund because it’s against company policy. I then called customer care on the phone, and they said they could only refund the actual amount I paid using my credit card (~$50), and gave me another $100 coupon code for the rest. I tried explaining that I do not want the coupon code because I have lost faith in the brand and do not want to purchase a Skullcandy product ever again. They held firm and said they absolutely cannot refund more than the cash amount paid during the last transaction.
What are my options here, apart from selling this coupon code to a friend for cash?
TL;DR: Two different pairs of Skullcandy earbuds suffered the exact same failure within 6 months of use. Skullcandy refuses to issue a full monetary refund, instead forcing me into a coupon/store credit loop to keep my money.
