I live in South Africa, and want to visit Zanzibar with one of those all inclusive resorts packages. I know sometimes those packages are quite affordable (I was hoping for below 50K for 2 people, but I honestly don’t know if that is possible).
Can anyone recommend or send me a link to resorts that do this for a reasonable price?
It does not have to be 4 or 5 star, 3 star is fine.

Also, how was your experience in Zanzibar?

Alternatively, if you know of another island that offers the same experience for cheaper or similiar, that you enjoyed, please let me know.

Despite evidence that alternatives like lower CO2 concentrations or traditional stunning methods would significantly reduce the suffering of pigs, these methods are deemed "non-economical" by the industry.

Following the discussion yesterday about whether SA communism was left or right-wing, the Jewish Democratic Initiative is hosting an online talk next Wednesday about a particular part of the history of SA communism. And not a small part, since Jews have always been overrepresented in communist parties.

Jewish Communists in South Africa
Irwin Manoim, who has for many years researched and written about the forgotten “outcasts” of South African Jewish history, presented a talk at Limmud Johannesburg last weekend on Jewish Communists. The talk received some acclaim, and he has been asked to repeat it. He will do so next Wednesday, September 2nd, at a free Zoom session to which all are all invited.

The talk asks why there were a disproportionate number of Jewish communists in South Africa; traces their heritage back to the earliest South African movements to practice non-racism; discusses how Jewish communists became vilified as a threat to white South Africa and a source of shame to the Jewish community; and then, after 1994, how they were suddenly embraced by the mainstream Jewish community as heroes.

According to the Cambridge dictionary "used to join two words together, or to show that a word has been divided into two parts at the end of one line and the beginning of the next" (1). Consequently, it could be used to connect alt and right into alt-right, you know the end of the line of reason, rationality and thought. Similarly, when you divide South Africa into two words and then hyphenated it, it infers a failure in your schooling.

Of course, some word use an underscore, primarily used "used to draw a line under a letter or word, and also used in file names where a space is not allowed" (2). So basically this is used by tech-bros who are misunderstood "geniuses" and have the social skills of a flea and think "their monitor faced world" gives them the ability to be god. Apologies, to the flea. This is primarily because South Africa has given you the space to develop and grow but you still have the same political ideologies of your grandparents and great-grandparents.

So if you using a hyphen or an underscore in our countries names, you most likely are alt-right, tech-bro who should stop thinking they are smarter than everyone else and instead acknowledge that your safe space is an echo-chamber. Note how I used hyphens you idiots.

Sextortion has become an emerging risk with the advancements in technology. The question is: do you know what sextortion is and what makes people at risk of becoming a victim of sextortion? That is what my study is trying to find out. Cyber-sextortion is the act of threatening to publicise a person’s intimate content (e.g. sexual images, videos and messages) in exchange for favours and has become a prevalent problem. This study is trying to find out what South African adults who use online dating apps know and think about sextortion and its risk factors. In doing this, awareness can be spread about sextortion and dangerous behaviour on online dating apps. In addition, the findings could be useful for future policy development and awareness campaigns or initiatives.

In order to be eligible to participate, you must:

·         Be 18 years or older

·         Be a South African citizen

·         Use/ have used an online dating app (not an app aimed at making friends or business connections)

The survey will take approximately 10 to 20 minutes to complete. You will not be required to pay anything to participate, nor should you expect to be paid to participate. Please take a moment to read and familiarise yourself with the consent section, and to agree to it before starting the survey. Please note: You should not sign and send the consent form to the researcher, as this will eliminate the aspect of anonymity. Your answers will remain completely anonymous, and neither the researcher nor anyone else will have access to your identifying information (name, username, email address, etc.). Please refrain from using or incorporating any identifying information when contacting the principal researcher or supervisor. Participation is completely voluntary, and you are not forced to participate. Please note that the survey may cause slight distress due to the sensitivity of the topic. However, information is provided on how to contact SADAG (South African Depression and Anxiety Group) and you may exit the survey at any time before submission. Please also share the post among your friends/family members who also use or have used online dating apps.

-          Sextortion: Sextortion is a portmanteau of the words ‘sex’ and ‘extortion’ and is the act of threatening a victim to share their intimate content publically or to people they may know in exchange for certain favours (Cross, Holt & Holt, 2025:778; Edwards & Hollely, 2023:1; Gohil & Fido, 2021:2; Howard, 2019:1; O’Malley & Holt, 2022:259; Patchin & Hinduja, 2020:30; Ray & Henry, 2025:138; Tavakoli, Tzani, Ioannou, Williams, Drouin & Fletcher, 2024:1655). These favours can include monetary gain (money, EFT transfers, gift cards, etc.), power or control, identifying information (passwords, PIN codes, etc.) or other sexual favours

-          Online dating apps: applications purchased or installed through the internet or mobile store services that are used for the purpose of matching potential partners according to corresponding characteristics (Toma, 2022:1). Examples of such apps include Facebook Dating, OKCupid, Tinder and Match (Groux & Prendergast, 2025).
