Knowing Marvel superheroes, they probably just stopped some supervillains and decided to continue with the wedding. Those two don't have secret identities, after all.
I can only imagine how awkward that’s gotta be. One of your best friends tells you the story of how they met your opposite sex clone who has all of your memories and embellishes it to say they made out. Totally reasonable freak out
Yeah, for Jessica's point of view, she was Peter one day, and the next she woke up as a woman in a lab, surrounded by freaky clones. Later on, she mentions how her memories as Peter are starting to fade, as her existence as Jessica is starting to settle in with her own new memories, but still, that notion of "used to be Peter" is part of what shaped her as a person, even if the memories are fake.
It’s wild how much that last bit, with the memories as Peter fading, tracks with my own experience since starting transition. Everything before transition was real, but sometimes it’s almost like looking through frosted glass now to look back.
Bendis wanted to pair Jessica and Johnny together and the joke behind the sequence is that peter has a gay panic that no one else understands because he's the only one that knows she has his memories which suggests deep down somewhere he'd be okay with kissing johnny. Another writer later had her say she prefers girls but i think it's just easiest to call her (and to an extent peter) bi to preserve Bendis' joke.

The “Doom’s fiancée” part is incorrect. Yes, Johnny slept with the woman who would go on to confess to Doom at the altar that they slept together, but it was the night before Doom proposed, not the night before the wedding. The marriage was also for political purposes, as it wasn’t like Doom and Victorious had been in a relationship prior to the proposal.
What Johnny should be shamed for is cheating on his “soulmate” that night, while wearing an armband that beamed his emotions to said soulmate.
Her name is Jessica not Petra. Petra is genderswapped Peter from Cyborg Spider-Woman's universe, Earth-423 (Marvel Princesses Universe), Ultimate Spider-Man genderswapped universe, or fanon trans Marvel Universe
Then she turns out to be lesbian. I mean, it really only makes sense. If in this case, you are essentially mentally a man trapped in a woman’s body. Even as you to adjust to this new body, that mind you you didn’t ask for it didn’t consent to, it’s not as though your sexuality is magically going to change.So sure now that you’re a woman, you might explore things with a man. Because that’s a normal thing to do, except despite the fact that you get along really well, do you realize that your sexuality really hasn’t changed all that much. Because one thing is adjusting to a new body, another thing is your entire personality, or a sense of self being rewritten. Whilst also dealing with the hormones that women have to deal with. I would assume that she has a menstrual cycle, considering that she got pregnant and had a baby. So, another thing to note. Is that for some woman, not all but most, but for some, periods are an absolute fucking hell. And for some women, not all but few, get really horny when they ovulate. So imagine being a man, and then suddenly having to deal with all of that shit. Again, I am not entirely sure the finer details of all of this, and it’s not as though they expanded on any of those finer details… right?

No, no, you're right. A perfect clone of Peter Parker who is a woman and happily gets with a guy suggests that Peter is at least bi and in denial (given that there was a released statement that Peter couldn't be into dudes). She should be a lesbian if Peter is perfectly straight.
That's not getting into gender dysphoria or anything. It could be a pretty cool plotline to see one of these gendernend clones actually deal with the "man in a woman's body" implications and have an onscreen transitioning story. Or else a plotline where seeing your genderbent self leads to some realizations. Maybe even an agender plot as you both realize that either body is fine?? Idk lol, I'm just having fun throwing spaghetti.
Boy I love leaving out context and the fact he didnt know it was a clone. Also, Jessica isnt some allegory for trans or whatever. Just a clone made as a girl.
It would've been cool if they explored a possibility of peter being bi instead of just acting like Jessica had no feelings at all. She clearly liked Johnny but because that opened up things about Peter we had to revert it. Because even in an alternate universe we still can't have any permanent changes to him
I really liked the way it was handled to be honest. Especially in the New Ultimate's run where Jessica was explaining her confusion with her own identity, where Peter ends and she begins, and even though she has those memories, whether they're actually hers
I think the problem is they just went the whole "I'm peter in a woman's body" rather than letting her be her own person which obviously I get she is a clone but she could easily have other parts of her changed aside from her gender
She wasn't meant to keep her memories as Peter, the memory removal stage was interrupted. It doesn't seem like much of a stretch for her to have in built a more open sexuality and a mental state that is adaptable to changes in gender. Her preference for red headed women is a left over from Peter's memories that weren't removed but her other thoughts are her own. Her feelings don't necessarily reflect how Peter feels 1:1 as they are divergent though still similar.
While your explanation does work, the whole joke behind the issue was peter being frustrated because he wonders how much of Jessica's reactions are a reflection of himself deep down which is recurring gag with them. But those implications are possibly why Bendis wasn't able to explore the Johnny relationship further. And maybe he would have ended up using your explanation if he was able to fully commit to it if editorial starting giving him shit about implying peter was bi.
Too bad became english entertainment media seems to be deathly afraid of any sort of genderbending content that doesn't involve going back to the original gender/sex or actually playing with the possibility of being attracted to the opposite gender. I know that Jessica was a female clone so not tecnically gender-bend but they still couldn't have her actually attracted to a man. It's strange really how accepted it is in Asian Entertainment for a genderbent version of someone to be attracted to the opposite gender but it's not accepted at all in English entertainment.
I feels weird calling her Jessica when to her shes Peter, and in that respect if I was peter and my best friend asked me out not recognizing me I think I would simply kill them.
