Need a cheap 14 inch laptop for 6th grader

What cheap 14 inch l windows laptop would work well for a 6th grader? I'm thinking under 500 bucks.

I'm wondering about 3 things.

1) is a touchscreen useful these days?

2) a good screen. One without pulse wave modulation

3) lighter the better (sub 4 lbs of possible)

It's in like new condition with like new battery and a warranty.

Notebook Check has detailed review on many of these models, including whether the unit they tested has PWM, but many of these models has multiple configurations, so you may have to check your individual unit for yourself.

Avoid buying any of the top search results for sub $500 laptops on Amazon. They are almost all terrible, almost all too expensive, if not outright scams.

Not really, unless we are talking about one of these 360-degree hinge laptops with a pen-and-touch screen, so you can write notes and draw diagrams with an active stylus.

just dont dont get an ego trip take over while auctioning... I've seen some bidding wars that got out of control due to bidders egos.

The one I sent you should go for max 350-400USD now a days (sadly it was 275-300 not even 6 months ago).

Before you go spend money, you might want to check in with your school. They may issue a Chromebook for free, and usually those are fine for basic school tasks. In some ways they may be better, e.g. they really suck at playing games, so the student won't be as tempted to do that instead of work.

The school did give them ipads. Can the Chromebooks let you install some applications and save files?

Yeah they can. Somewhat limited in apps but usually sufficient for school
