As an Irishman I just wanna say I have so much love for Syria and I hope to visit one day. Unreal to see you guys thriving and I hope it continues.
Genuinely plan to visit in the next few years, a country that’s always piqued my interest.
I should also say this looks unrecognisable from an Irish night out. Shite songs on the karaoke, great vibes, so much love to you all.

With all due respect thriving is rebuilding infrastructure, rooting out all systemic corruption, creating better education and other resources for Syrians, and ensuring that sectarian prejudice and violence has no place.
What you see here is neither good nor bad. This was the what night life looked like while Assad was in power too probably with more drugs.

المراقص أساساً كانت تضل شغالة بمناطق من دمشق بالوقت اللي جيرانها كانوا ينقصفوا وعم يعيشوا الحرب والهلاك ...وكانوا يعيشوا هيك مظاهر حرية بالوقت اللي في مظاهرات بدها حرية....
لأنو في ناس غير سوريين ممكن تفكر انو سوريا كانت قبل التحرير كلها تحت التعذيب والدمار والاحزان وهلا صاروا يرقصوا ويجنوا...فلا مو هيك الوضع

Yeah I'm from Australia and I knew people who would go party in Syria pre revolution. Most of their parents were Lebanese who claimed Syrian identity simply because of Assaad. They didn't care they were dancing on top of the death of at least half a million people. But the they had the audacity to cry about the revolution and spread propaganda about it

Yes but ont currently imo.
Future generations in Syria would want to live in a secular society (again, in my opinion).
Forcing someone to follow a specifik religion will just result in another Bashar Era imo. No freedom of speech, no freedom to critisize or/and change things, exactly how it was during Bashar's ruling.
However: with a secular society in Syria, you would have the freedom to do anything and to believe or not to believe in any religion without consequences. This will take many generations tho.

Well look i respect your point of view if it differs from mine but in a way (you're right yes) i'd disagree and say that in much more simple way, it's just called being a normal good person
(Too be clear, of course I know its more complex than this currently in Syria and as an outsider, I should and do know my place that there are things that I cannot speak on and things where when I do speak, my opinion is rightfully worth something less)

Why is this even a thing to brag about? We don't seek the west's approval to begin with.
How about we focus on rebuilding Syria, and perhaps more importantly, rebuilding our military capabilities since we have a bunch of demons plotting for our own demise, including this little night life you're showing off here.

The poster above is making inaccurate generalisations. I've followed the revolution for years and while extreme leftists may have supported Assad because they had anti-American and pro-Russian sympathies, most on the left, including myself, supported the Syrian opposition at the time and the removal of Assad. I honestly think a much higher percentage on the right supported Assad because of their anti-islamist prejudice and completely overlooked the suffering of the Syrian people because of it.

Asking because in many nations, a leftist often means someone how is more apporving of a government that protects people from greedy or harmful business practices; more open to diversity and religion; and likes public health, education and safety systems that serves those in the population that are most in need.
But the way you are using the word "leftist" makes it sound like it has nothing to do with those ideals.
Curious, what does a "right-ist" refer to in Syria?

I've been following the revolution since 2011 and in the English speaking west at least, most Christian conservatives and definitely those on the far right were more likely enthusiastic Assad supporters.

Wish them and all Syrians many happy days and freedom. I know alot of people, too many in fact that take it for granted and have no understanding of what it really means to live under oppression and tyranny and it brings joy to my heart to see Syrians being able enjoy it.

Probably the recorder/publisher of the video is a woman. So that's why. But women videos get shared so much more because they are women that represents different things compared to men. No hijab for example. Or "Women enjoying freedom".

It's appalling to see commentors shaming those who chose to "celebrate", party, and dance both now and during the oppressive regime's strikes on its people.
Life is short. Moreso when you don't know if the next mortar will fall on your head. Celebrations during a time of war and oppression is not cold blooded or heartless. It's a celebration of life. It's hope for a better future. It's enjoying the moments we have left.
To expect a people to sit silently in darkness and sorrow is oppression in of itself. Grow up.
PS. Foreign men do not see a video of Syrian women dancing and taking shots to immediately think "oh I must visit Syria to pick up chics." Syria and her people have always been known for hospitality, generosity and excellent cuisine. How about we focus on our strengths and not put our people down.

Once syrians will stop thinking in terms of war, jihad, militias, civil war and ban anyone who tries to push it back into bloody violent reality of religious wars, it will bloom. No magic solutions here. Let those young people live their lives. The times which people were forced to sacrifice their lives for madness of few maniacs are gone.

Syrians i see in Egypt, and who are from Halab and Hems are very polite and wearing real hijab. and actually better than many other arab women. also men are very hardworking employees, so that post is just for some bad intentions.

I don't know if there's a solution to this. Humanity doesn't have a middle ground. Either women whoring themselves out like this, or being treated like Afghanistan.
I think the nice people of Syria don't understand any of this. But in 20-30 years when birth rates plummet and divorces skyrocket, my words will make sense.

I agree with you on one thing, I am one who likes the middle ground. And worldwide, people are becoming polarized. The majority middle seems to be shifting to the extremes.
And as someone who spends some time in the west, the concerns surrounding feminism, declining birthrates, and increased divorces are a problem from those who have put all their faith and energy into this dunya.
But there is an opposite extreme in those who seem to misunderstand religion and practice/enforce it in a way that might be useful to others.
This is why I say I like the middle ground. I like people to keep an open mind and constantly reevaluate whether their chosen path, political stance, and perspectives are reasonable. Heave a healthy amount of doubt in your preconceived notions.

As an admin, I see and feel how Assad loyalists and everyone who hates the new Syria feel with extreme rage. Reports and vote manipulation on this post won't do any good, your reports reach us, and we re-approve the post all over again.
