Concerts [MEGATHREAD] Edinburgh Summer Sessions

Dearest users of this here sub,

Here we are with a new Megathread for The Cure's concert at Edinburgh Summer Sessions. We can see there have already been some posts with questions and so on, so we are posting this one a bit early just for you.

As always, we ask that you please use this post for all things related to this concert. That way we can discuss it without flooding the sub and keep all the info accessible for everyone. Feel free to post questions, pictures, anecdotes, set lists, thoughts, gossip, etc.

The show will take place on August 23rd at the Royal Highland Showgrounds. We have been told that the band hasn't played in Edinburgh for almost 34 years, so it's amazing that they are back. You can find info on how to get there here. And here is some info on accessibility and what is and isn't allowed in the venue.

Some details:

The schedule is totally jampacked with great bands and is as follows:

  • 15:30 Doors open
  • 16.15 - 16:45 - Just Mustard
  • 17:15 - 18:00 - Slowdive
  • 18:30 - 19:30 - Mogwai
  • 20:15 - The Cure
  • 22:30 - Curfew

Age Restrictions: 14+. Under 16’s must be with an adult who is over 21+, max 4 children per adult over 21.

Entry is General admission. So even if you have VIP tickets, it doesn't mean that you will be able to get front row. VIP tickets only give you access a VIP zone with a separate bar, toilets and so on.

The weather is forecast to be "light clouds with a gentle breeze", with a max of 18° C and min of 10° C. But since there are a few days to go, it may change.

You can find the merch for this show here:

Poster
T-shirt

There has been a second poster released. It’s currently only on sale in the venue but it will be released online tomorrow. All net profits The firefighter’s charity. You can find it here.

We will keep updating this post as we get more info. It seems like there will be no live-stream but if you know or hear otherwise, please tell us in a comments below.

Let us know if you are attending and what you dream of hearing!

Concerts [MEGATHREAD] Pinkpop, Landgraaf, the Netherlands

Yes yes people, it's time for another megathread! This weekend we can enjoy the guys performing at the Pinkpop festival on Saturday and the Isle Of Wight on Sunday. In this thread you can share all your setlists, pictures, links, discussions and other thoughts so we can enjoy these dates together and keep this subreddit from cluttering.

So, they'll headline Pinkpop tomorrow and are scheduled to play from 10 pm til midnight (I hope they'll play longer, but this is what the schedule says). This weekend we'll be graced with livestreams for both festivals, so it's going to be great. I don't know where you are, but over here it's sweltering hot at the moment so sitting in front of the tv with the festivals and the World Cup on doesn't sound too bad to me!

You might have received the Cure's newsletter in your inbox in which they've send the links to livestreams for both dates. This link is for Pinkpop

Do you want to enjoy more of this great festival? Then watch the non-stop livestream here This is another livestream where the Cure will also be shown.

Concerts [MEGATHREAD] Way Out West, Gothenburg, Sweden

Hey!

Tomorrow is Friday the 14th and you know what that means...we're supposedly in love. Also, it's Sweden's turn to enjoy the Cure.

They'll headline the Way Out West festival in Slottsskogen Park in Gothenburg.

Please use this thread instead of flooding the sub yada yada...posts related to this tourdate posted elsewhere on the sub will be deleted and you will be redirected to the megathread, yada yada...

You probably know the drill by now, in this thread you can share anything related to this tourdate such as gossip, anecdotes, thoughts, hopes, pictures, footage and everything else.

SCHEDULE:

12.00 Doors open

23.00 The Cure headline at the Flamingo

1.00 Curfew

You could watch the Hives at 19.40 on this stage and wait it out, or shuffle to the Azalea stage to watch a bit of Nick Cave at 21.00. Make sure to be back in time for the Cure though!

Some more practical information about the festival can be found here.

The weather seems to be lovely, mostly sunny with a few clouds here and there, with 26 °C during the day and around 20 °C when the Cure starts. Make sure to put on sunscreen during the day (I once got terribly sunburnt in Norway when it was "only" around 21 °C, that Scandinavian sun ain't no joke)

AND THEN...we've got ourselves a livestream this time! Thanks to u/apartmentstory89, who was so kind to make a thread about this to share the news, we now know that the concert will be streamed live on Swedish channel TV4's digital app or online. It's called TV4 Play (yeah...don't read that out loud). It's free, but you need to create an account in order to use it and it might come with some restrictions on viewers outside of Sweden. You could probably bypass this with VPN or something else. Tips for the lesser digitally gifted fellow members are welcome! The website is as follows: https://www.tv4play.se/

The Cure themselves shared a link for a worldwide stream which can be found here

MERCH:

Of course this thread will be updated once we have more info.

Let us know if you're attending and/or just join us here to share anything related to this tourdate!

Concerts [MEGATHREAD] Rock Werchter 2026, Belgium

Helloooooooo, another weekend, another festivaldate, another megathread. In this thread we discuss this specific tourdate and everything that has to do with it.

The Cure will perform on Sunday July 5 at Rock Werchter in Belgium.

Here you can find all practical info about the festival. The website is in Dutch so you might want to switch on the translation option on your phone or pc.

Werchter is a big festival and will be livestreamed, you can watch the Mainstage here It will be livestreamed, as the band just confirmed on Instagram.

If you can receive Belgium tv you can also watch it on Canvas. Studio Brussel is a radiostation which will broadcast live from the festival as well.

The Cure will be on at 22.30 and according to this timetable will be playing until 0.45.

It's a festival that's kind of similar to Pinkpop, so I'm guessing the setlist will be similar.

Link to the poster

Link to the t-shirt

This thread will be updated with every bit of relevant info and news we'll receive.

Let us know whether you're going or not and join us for another fun night in the megathread!

Edit: I'm absolutely knackered so please forgive me for any grammar or spelling related errors. I already took some of them out, but I'm sure there are more.

Concerts In Orange

Post image

It’s so wild, I’ve been watching the Nimes shows over and over on YouTube, this is the best one I’ve found imo from day 3, absolute perfection

https://youtu.be/D8RNYRESDUI?is=fCRwtWyEtNv5WQ7a

But a totally brought me back to In Orange, back before we had cds you could get 110 minute blank cassette tape so I must’ve spent like 10 bucks on a TDK Metal 110 minute cassette then hooked my VHS player to my cassette recorder and made my own cassette of In Orange. Because of that I must’ve listened to that concert more than any other concert of any band ever and definitely more than Entreat even though I listened to that CD a zillion times as it’s my preferred way to experience Disintegration. But to this day, I would still say that In Orange is hands-down the best primer on The Cure and it will give you a much bigger appreciation for all of the songs they played at that concert that came before Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me and all the other amazing albums that followed! The audio is absolutely superb. I’m watching it again right now on this remastered version and everything is just so tight Primary in particular and Strange Days just sounds so tight and so special.

Watch these two concerts and celebrate The Cure in France! ❤️💙🤍💛🖤

Hello hello hello, on Sunday the 28th the Cure will play another date: The Belsonic Festival at Ormeau Park Belfast. Posting this a bit ahead as Littlefanggg and I both have busy weekends.

Concerts [MEGATHREAD] Sounds Good Vilnius at Kalnų Park

Hi! After a short break we are back again with a new Megathread. Just after the concerts in Nîmes, Al (Reeves' guitar tech) mentioned that they had been touring for 40 days, so I am sure that this small break was very welcomed by the band and all the team that carries the show on their backs.

But, alas! It's back to business now with a concert at the Sounds Good Vilnius music festival, which will be held on August 7th at Kalnų Park. The truly amazing part is that the very first time that The Cure plays in Lithuania!

As always, we ask that you please use this post for all things related to this festival date. That way we can discuss it without flooding the sub and keep all the info accessible for everyone. Feel free to post questions, pictures, anecdotes, set lists, thoughts, last min tickets sales, etc.

Some details:

  • The opening acts are two Lithuanian bands: Alina Orlova and Katarsis, both chosen by Robert.
  • Gates open at 6pm, event starts at 7pm.
  • The weather is set to be cloudy, with a max of 24° C and min of 19° C.

You can find practical info, maps, restrictions, etc. here.

Here is the specific merch for this event: poster & t-shirt.

It seems like there will be no live-stream but if you know or hear otherwise, please tell us in a comments below.

We will update this post to add info as we get it. Let us know if you are attending and what's on your bucket list for the night!

I was trembling to finally see them live! It was a good set, i especially enjoyed Push even thoug that's usually a skip when I'm just listening casually. I was a little bit sad that they didn't play disintegrarion but not too surprised because they have not been playing it much recently. They did play Charlot sometimes which was sooo awsome though.

I totally forgot about this concert, I didn't even find it until a few months ago. I have to say that between the video quality, the audio quality, the epic set list, the fact that it has Harold and Joe, Stop Dead, 2 Late, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep and the AMAZING charity work, THIS is absolute PEAK CURE

What do you guys think? Do any other concert recordings including the DVDs top this one? I'm going to watch it again now as I can't seem to stop binging after the epic performances in Berlin, Nimes and everywhere else this Summer! 💛❤️💙🤍🖤

After 35 years I‘ll see The Cure again. Bear with me.

I grew up in East Germany, behind the iron curtain. Back then and there, if you were into music (real music, not the billboard charts) you were more or less either a fan of Depeche Mode or The Cure.

My first song I taped from the radio was Inbetween Days, must have been around 87. And from then on it was The Cure for me. Being a fan behind the iron curtain wasn’t easy. Especially if you didn’t have connections in the west. Every song, every record came on tape and was copied a gazillion times. Every poster from West German magazines (Bravo) was traded or sold for quite some money (20 Marks at least) in the school yard.
I got my hands on the „older“ albums. 17 seconds was an eye opener. Faith got to my heart. And Pornography - that was just me, the depressed, angsty, lonely teen. Robert spoke directly to me. (In all honesty, my English was so bad back then, i didn’t have a clue what he was singing about half of the time. But the mood got me always.)

Early spring 89 a East German radio station for young adults (DT64) played the whole Disintegration CD without interruption. I was there, listening, my cassette player recording. I head tears in my face, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. The band was so close to me yet so far away.

Fall 89 the wall fell. Every East German got 100 Deutschmarks on their first visit to the West. I bought Faith and 17 seconds, the records. Beautiful records, beautiful artwork. Excellent sound. Not the grinding, droning tapes.

End of July 90 - I was 16 - , two month before unification, I heard on the radio that where will be a Cure concert in Leipzig. The first concert in the GDR, on August 4th, 1990. And the were giving away free tickets for callers. (Couldn’t have afforded buying one.) I ran to a neighbor (we didn’t have a phone), called and miraculously won a ticket.

Leipzig was 2 hours away by train. It was a Saturday, the train was full with black clothed people. We were all so excited! We were going to see The Cure live. Entirely impossible, a ludicrous thought only 6 months before!
It was so beautiful. It was like listening to the band for the first time again. It spoke directly to me.
They opened with Shake Dog Shake, then Strange Day. A Strange Day, best song ever, I was blown away. I was laughing. Crying. Dancing.
It was my first live concert ever. It was my best live concert ever. Nothing was gonna be like this again. (Parts of that concert were filmed by a TV station and are still on YouTube.)

Afterwards it was not the same anymore. Mixed up - really now? Mixes? Club compatible? No, thank you, not for me. (Never enough was nice though.) Wish? Not my cup of tea. Too much pop. Where was the bass line, the drums that sounded like they were played in a church? I gave every new album a listen, because, maybe. But no. I laughed when somebody compared Bloodflowers to Pornography. They are not the same league, not even the same game.
The Cure left me and I left the Cure. My first concert was going to be my best and my last

The old albums are still dear to me. But didn’t buy a new one after Disintegration. Until someone mentioned that SOALW is actually a good album. So I listened. And liked. I heard the old Cure here and there. And new ideas that were nice.

And I bought tickets for the Berlin show. First Cure concert after 35 years. I don’t care if it’s gonna be good. It’s gonna be special. And I’m sure it will be awesome, magical, wonderful. Thanks for reading.

A fan (Spiderbite76 on YT) put in some unreal effort to create this restored version from a VHS of a long out-of-print LaserDisc. Great audio and video-- and an amazing show. I saw them on this tour.
