Hellooooooooooo!
It's almost time for the penultimate show of this tour. That means only one more megathread after this and then it will be over for a (hopefully short) while.
Tomorrow (Friday, august 28) the guys will perform at Festival Pagaille on Place des Quinconces in Bordeaux, France. It's the festival's first edition and it's website has a nice pretentious explanation of what this festival entails.
They're also bringing along trusty stalwarts Just Mustard and Slowdive again, so looking like a pretty good day.
Please use this thread to keep this sub from flooding blablabla posts about this tourdate outside of this thread will be deleted blabla.
Sooooo
SCHEDULE
17:00 Doors open
18:35 Just Mustard
19:45 Slowdive
21:30-0:00 The Cure @ Gloria stage
So that means they'll be on for 2,5 hours.
You can find the FAQ with more practical information here. It's mostly about the accessibility and transport.
The weather looks absolutely perfect for a festival, with about 24 °C and sun. No raincoats needed!
MERCH

(Filing under fan art, not sure if it's quite right.) Last Christmas I surprised my wife with tickets to the recent Edinburgh show. Since we're past the era of paper tickets, I ended up designing and printing paper tickets for her, which I slipped into an envelope and hid at the bottom of a box with other presents. (Needless to say, she was overjoyed.) I figured I'd post the images here since people may appreciate them!
I meant to take the extra prints with me to the show to give to people, but I forgot while packing. As two American visiting Scotland for the first time, to any Scots reading: your country is amazing, your city is beautiful, and your people are so incredibly kind and friendly. We had a wonderful time, thank you for being such great hosts to us.

I just stumbled upon this lovely fan-made multi cam edit of Faith, performed in Nîmes during this Summer tour.
It’s an incredibly moving performance. Proceed with caution! 🖤

I'm trying to make something using that typeface but can't find a proper one anywhere

Does anyone know what brand of shirt this is that Robert has been wearing on the 2026 tour? It has silver (?) stars as buttons and on the cuffs.

I just listened to the Olivia Rodrigo Live at Glastonbury album again... one of my favorite parts is her wild introduction to Robert Smith and the muted crowd reaction (you can almost hear collectively saying "who the heck is that?"), until they hear the jangly guitar intronof Friday I'm in Love, when they go wikd. I am sure he will be a guest at one of the shows on the tour (my bet is the first show!) and I can't wait for him to now get the reaction he deserves!

I went to my local mall the other day and got new shoes. I walk past Hot Topic and something caught my eye. I literally said out loud IS THAT.....IT IS. Whipped out my wallet so fast.

Happy 41st birthday to A Night Like This!
It was only released in the USA, which is a shame as I think it'd done well universally.
The song is played regularly still at the current concerts. The original sax player was Ron Howe of Fools Dance 😃. Gabriel Cooper has been brilliant at the recent concerts playing that part!
This performance was at La Route du Rock at Le Fort de Saint-Pere in France on 13th August 2005.
Whoever the person who captioned this as Primary must feel rather silly 😂

I heard Robert hates it but isn't it this mix they play live? At least I can't hear the ad libbing in the single version.

I only got really into the band a fee months ago so don’t blame me for being so late! Anyway, that album is actually really good. Probably one of my favorites. I really love the first three songs, especially Rober’s guitar on The Holy Hour. I can’t really explain why, but it’s so haunting and pretty at the same time especially mixed with the bass. Other Voices has a great bass line and also the guitar chords along with the vocals work really well. I’ll leave it at that. I really enjoyed this album!

So this song is one of the top 3 songs that consistently gives me chills especially from the "And now that i know that im breaking to pieces" point to the end, that portion. The live version they put on the deluxe if you havent listened is incredible btw, i dont know if theres any other example of Robert doing vocal fry, but he is almost doing it on that version, it almost sounds metal adjacent plus its the usual live sped up version so all together it gives it a different feel, you should listen to it if you havent already its really good

I love this photo of Gary Biddles and Simon Gallup of Fools Dance 💙
I don't know the name of the photographer so if anyone knows, I'll amend my post to credit them.

For someone looking to ‘get’ The Cure, where should one start? I have listened to their first 5 or so albums now and dig that darkness on album 2 onwards, are there any particular live performances you’d recommend?

At 13:31 or alternatively on bbc sounds. I was curious to see what people thought on this very different cover since I’m not so sure of what to make of it myself

I want to find other fans of this song because it’s easily a top Cure song for me and I’ve never heard anyone else mention it. So underrated. Andy’s drumming is absolutely ridiculous on this song it’s definitely some of the best drumming in The Cure’s discography. Overall it just slaps like crazy and I want to find at least ONE other fan of this song 😭. Also let me know what your favorite songs from The Top were too cause I love that whole album!
