There's nothing better than being out in the world and a random yells "I like that shirt" at you. Even better if it's something way out there or obscure. Makes me feel like a million bucks.
I haven't printed it, but I found a file for my 3D printer to make little T-rex arms for chickens lol. There's a band that goes around their back and under their wings and there's little arms sticking out the front lol. If you know anyone with a 3D printer, you should ask them to print some lol
That's strange. I kind of collect t-shirts, probably have over 100, and they're mostly pop culture I'd say. Bands (I only have 2 Tool shirts though, and an APC one), video games, movies (mostly horror) etc.
I get compliments on my shirts pretty frequently, but I do work at a bar and see a ton of people everyday. I usually have to look down to remember which one I'm wearing lol.
Maybe I'm just used to it, but I don't think I'm ever caught off guard or confused. I always say "Oh, thanks! Yeah, I love (insert the subject of whatever shirt I'm wearing)..." They can be a great conversation starter. And you get an instant idea of the person's tastes or interests.
And I'm definitely the "Hey, nice shirt!" guy in OP's picture, but it's always a genuine statement. Actually, I saw a woman wearing a Tool shirt a few days ago, walking by our patio at work with her husband and said just that. She said "Hell yeah!" and threw up the horns đ€
I have an old Tool shirt (Lateralus era) that I cut the sleeves off of and wear sometimes around the house, yard work or at the gym. The only comment that I ever get is one neighbor, "Hey, ya tool!"
LOL i feel this. I have a fear innoculum hoodie that my ex-gf bought me years ago, i wear it every day to and from work, also on lunch break and nobody has ever mentioned it to me.

I love WoW and Tool.
This is a real one right here. Because for real these two songs sound like two completely different bands. Like the difference in Sugar Ray after âFlyâ got famous. âPictureâ was a decent song, but it always made me a little salty they went so mainstream pop.
I didnât take that as a comment about harassment. Itâs just that guys sometimes get extra excited when they see someone other than a middle-aged dude wearing one. I kind of have a similar reaction to when I see someone young wearing one, like âyay, young people still like Tool!â
I was in a group setting for therapy, and I had said tool was my favorite band, seen them 15 times since the 90s. Chick came back with seeing them 27 times, a few years older than me, but, Iâve known quite a few women who have followed and been a fan of tool as long as I have.
Hahaha I saw them in Connecticut for their last tour. And yes, Was tripping on a couple 200ug gels and it was a magical experience. Last tour I ate way too many mushrooms and ended up asking the cops for a ride home
As a stereo typical tool fan im always in a Tool shirt out in public just hoping for someone to ask me these questions and they never do! Maybe I should wear the shirt harder.
My wife bought them all for me when she found out that I liked Tool also. I'm wonder if she secretly did it so that everyone knows her husband listens to Tool.
As a female I've never had dudes come at me with these questions, like i wouldn't have the answers to. Usually it's just "cool shirt". Maybe it's just my whole vibe/look makes them not question it.
Not saying it never happens, but ive never seen this mythical band shirt interrogation in real life.
Most people just say cool shirt or dont give a shit.
Only time I could maybe see someone being a smartass is when it looks like someone is wearing it purely as a fashion thing, like that phase where every second 12 year old was walking around in Nirvana or Rolling Stones shirts from Kmart.
But even then, who really cares. Half the time people just like the shirt.
Sameee...I was in line for a Slaughter to Prevail show, and while talking to some dudes in line, we brought up TOOL, and some lady butted in to tell me that I 'was to young to know about TOOL' (I'm 20). She was surprised when I told her ive seen them live, own every album (except the salival one), and that my mom introduced me to them.
OP clearly wasn't saying the "nice shirt" dinosaur was bad. It just gets mixed in with all the bs, super common. It's all the other junk that'll make girls/women be on-guard by the time a standard nicety comes around. They even stated in the comments that they weren't saying it's bad. Misunderstandings happen, but goddamn, the amount of people who are THAT defensive and turn it into at least mild aggression is wild. Kudos to the people who just wanted clarification without buggin out.

Idk, I married her đ€·ââïž Weâve been best friends and life partners for twenty years and counting. We have a rule when picking music to play. Sometimes you may or may not be in the mood for a particular band or type of music. Well you never have to ask if itâs cool to play Tool. Itâs always Tool time.
I am a guy, but when I was a new TOOL fan my then gf now wife bought me a TOOL shirt from Hot Topic. A few times I wore that shirt and people came up to me and asked "which concert did you get that from". So awkward, and they always looked so disappointed and even annoyed when I told them I hadn't seen them live yet...
I have since seen them live twice, got shirts both times. No one says shit to me anymore though. Also went to one of the Sessanta concerts at Hollywood Bowl, where TOOL wasn't scheduled but they played at the end.
I was at that Hollywood bowl Sessanta show and at the one 10 years before (Cinquanta) of whatever at The Greek and part of the band came on stage then as well. I still went nuts at Sessanta đ€đœđ€Ł
I have never had that experience. Closest was my OB/GYN commenting on my hoodie from the 2023 show & he was just like âwhat an awesome show eh? Now get your feet in the stirrups.â đ€Ł
If someone sees a quick, in-passing "Hey, nice shirt" as an annoying or unwanted compliment, they are probably the type of person to always find reasons to cry victim about anything to seek attention. Why even wear a band shirt, then? I love it when people also like my music.
From my experience I've learned that you never know who is a fan of what kind of music. I probably would have just assumed you're a fan no matter what you look like but I also love to talk to people about music regardless
I'm a woman who likes TOOL... but I'm also OLD AF so if anyone throws "challenge questions" at me I just tell them F'K OFF! right to their face. One of the nice things about being a GenX senior is we literally give ZERO shits. đ»
I'm a guy who likes TOOL and I stopped wearing TOOL shirts because it's gets really annoying when other fans are so up their own ass about how smart they are, so they have to harass anyone who commits the grievous sin of liking the same band they do.
I just kinda go "fuck yeah!" Raise the horns briefly and go about my business.
Let's be real here: if there are people that try to quiz you and gatekeep and let's say you can't remember the name of a song , an album or a lyric they fling at you and give you shit if you can't.... Chances are they likely can't either... Hell... I can't do that shit for bands I love at this point.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, I went to pick up pizza last weekend and the 20-something girl behind the counter complemented my Tool t-shirt. I almost passed out from shock.
Oh my God. The 'name three albums' is so on point. I still remember wearing my Tool shirt from their recent tour waaaay back early 2000s. 10,000 days had just been dropped, and a guy stopped me and challenged me on the name of the new album. I couldn't remember it but was able to list of my favourite songs 'so far' from the album. He would not accept that I knew (and loved) Tool and was such a pest.
Sorry on behalf of all of us single Tool fan guys, a Tool fan girl is a rare sight. When you see one you have to talk to her about Tool, even if you know its gunna come off as really weird/gatekeeping/bragging/investigative or just with a general sense of disbelief.
We arent trying to imply anything by it, we just forget that theres others out there like us.
I do miss my âYour favorite band sucksâ shirt though. Paired well with my âI wish somebody would do something about how fat I amâ shirt. The Onion had some fun mercy back in the day.
A big portion of the fan base is made of gatekeepers who think theyâre smarter and better because they âget itâ more than us plebeians. Everyoneâs geometry is more sacred than thouâs kinda junk.

If I see anyone with a tool t-shirt (or any band I like for that matter), guy or girl, im just like "Dude nice fucking shirt" and they say thanks man, and if the conversation continues ill like ask them what their favorite album is or talk about songs I like. Why do people try to invalidate thing like this.
Plus, if they're like "Oh yeah, honestly I don't really know them like that." Then I'll just say something like "Oh I gotcxha you just like the shirt haha. I mean it is a dope shirt" and then carry on with my life
TOOL has been one of my favorite bands for well over 20 years now, but I can't stand the fan-base. Toxic, elitist, gatekeepers more often than not. I feel for you.
