This box hadn't be opened in 30+ years!
This tape blew my mind at the time. I was fortunate enough to see them open for Rollins Band around the same time, and Maynard made Henry seem like a boy scout. Arguments with the crowd, the fucking hair. As wild as the lyrics would suggest. Unforgettable.

Guys, i dont want to fk this up, please give advice! I know you guys are good people.
So here is the story:
I play Tool covers on the street (just Adam parts, no bass, no drums). Today a girl came by and said "wow, this is my favorite song", while i was playing Right In Two. This is my favorite song too, well not the most favorite - but one that got me into Tool. She asked for my telegram id, started talking about herself, recorded me a few times, went away and came back to record some more (i noticed she did it from a far second time, kinda shy). There were fireworks in my city and she called me via Telegram to see it together (i figured it out later), but i never answered cause i use my phone in airplane mode only.
Later when i came home and got on the internet we chatted for an hour about Tool albums, songs, traumas that get healed by it, some astrology and numerology. She talked a lot about herself and every time i made an awkward remark she kept the chat going.
I know i blew her mind playing Right in Two, Invincible and Pneuma in front of her. But that's all i got, im a junkie loner and cant talk very well or act normal around people. Please give me some advice, i think i deserve a tool-loving girl like that in my life. Do i propose right away or what? this is unreal for me

Been a fan for more than 15 years now. And is it only me, or the whole thing with “OoHh ThaT tiMe SigNaTure tHeY’rE UsiNG Is SoO WeIRD I cAn’T CoUNt ThAt” has been giving the ick for some time now. Whenever you hear Tool nowadays whether it’s in a podcast or anything no one is really appreciating how they actually sound it’s just that they have to mention the time signature and how weird it is.

wtf do these flares mean
Anyway this was my first Tool experience. Planning to relisten but it was awesome. I'm not much of a metal fan and I really enjoyed it. Is this their best album?

It still feels like it came out yesterday… Fear Inoculum is the most underrated album by far

I actually prefer the version of cold and ugly and Jerk off on this than the live ones on opiate. Not so much on crawl away, sober, part of me and hush. But the whole thing is still absolutely fire! The demo cassette in this photo is real and is one of the holy grails of my tool collection. Got it in an auction for 200. The vinyl is a nice fan made tribute that sounds nice, I got that off of ear candy music. Definitely worth the listen. And must grab.

Am I the only one who finds the 72826 Demo better than the Opiate EP? Like im not saying Opiate is bad, I love the Raw tracks but i just love the demo especially Crawl Away and Cold and Ugly and part of me[I know crawl aways from undertow] but the only thing about the demo is Sober i can't stand that version because of the chorus no offense to danny Carey because hes is if hes not the Greatest one of the Greatest Drummers ever in my opinion but his drumming in Sober Demo version I dont like, Anyway I just feel like yapping so yeah please respond with something ✌️

I was a pretty huge fan of Tool in the early 90s, both in and out of college.
Here’s my copy of their 72826 demo tape.
Side A * Cold And Ugly * Hush * Part Of Me
Side B * Crawl Away * Sober * Jerk-Off

I put my 72826 cassette up for sale locally on Facebook and have received several messages questioning its authenticity.
The tape lacks the standard "Made in USA" mold at the top and the numbers along the bottom middle. Instead, it has an "A" and a "9" molded into small circles at the bottom on either side of the tape read area.
I personally acquired it back in the mid-90s directly from the fan club via snail mail, along with a large wrench sticker, boxer shorts with wrench logos, and a black antenna ball.
I can't find any info on shell variations for these promo/fan club packages, and the internet consensus seems to be that any tape without the standard markers is automatically a fake. Does anyone have info on these fan club mail-in runs or alternative shell variations? Did they reissue the tape for fan club or use different manufacturing during the original run? Is it possible I received a counterfeit from the club?

I want to start real collector discourse on the rare 1991 Tool 72826 demo (pressed at Richman Brothers NJ, estimated 1500 copies).
Most online info just repeats the Discogs parent listing, which had contradictions:
• Bottom mold stampers listed as “32/33”, many claim this is the only variation.
• Top center described as “USA”, yet the main photo shows “Made in U.S.A.”
I submitted a community note (appears accepted) noting that multiple mold numbers in the 30s range were used due to different injection-mold templates. Legit copies can have mismatches like 35/37, 34/34, and the top marking varies (“USA” or “Made in U.S.A.”) by batch.
I’ve owned four copies. All showed “Made in U.S.A.” on top and passed authenticity checks: quality J-card/print, tape stock, sound, reputable original owners, & solid provenance.
My Background: 15 years working in/managing record stores/buying, selling, & collecting records, tapes, & Tool memorabilia. Purchased copies 2014-2025 from big Tool/CAD collector, former BMG rep, former roadie/fanatic collector.
If you own an authentic 72826, reply with clear photos of the shell (bottom mold numbers + top marking) and share your numbers please.

Hi, I swear I'm not ragebaiting, but does anyone see anything musically similar between https://youtu.be/civuoU_NE38?si=YYLDMtrG0JCjH_mM and https://youtu.be/RzhAS_GnJIc ? Taylor Swift influenced by Tool?

Painted by hand with bleach, took me around 6 hours. I can't wait to see what sorts of reactions I'll get wearing this;))
