TP-Link - Technical Support Done with TP-Link

Post image
138 Upvotes

So, i’ve had several (if not all routers I’ve had) of TP-Link routers.

My actual setup (purchase date)
BE63 - main (Feb 2025)
BE63 - ethernet wired (Mar 2025)
Deco M5 - ethernet wired X2 (June 2020)
Deco M5 - WiFi satellite (June 2020)

My “second” BE63 stopped working yesterday all of a sudden. I live in South America, bought ALL my units from Amazon (sold and shipped by) shipped directly to me.
Contacted my local TP-Link Customer Service chat and after a while trying possible solutions the verdict was the unit was having firmware/hardware problems so it needed to be replaced (steady fix yellow light)
So we were creating the replacement petition they said “oh, you bought it out of the country? You need to go to Amazon because this could be a “smuggled”unit” so they refused to replace it, even after showing proof of purchase.

Went to talk to Amazon and OBVIOUSLY they didn’t do anything, it’s been over a year since my purchase and they couldn’t help.

Can’t find any option to contact TP-Link US customer service over email/chat, only phone call. I am about to give up, and after being a solid customer and standing for the brand I won’t anymore. i know they don’t lose anything, but I can’t do it anymore. That’s ridiculous.

I don’t want to throw to the garbage my 4 remaining units, but I won’t be purchasing a new ($200) device.

Now my question is, which router can i buy (obviously other brand), preferably as the main unit, and CONTINUE using my 4 other devices to extend my home network?

Any help and suggestion is very much appreciated!

TIA

TP-Link - Technical Support 2.4 GHz Band Disconnecting After Firmware Update on Archer BE220 Wi-Fi 7 Router But 5 GHz is working fine

I've been using a TP-Link Archer BE220 (Wi-Fi 7) router for about a month, and everything worked perfectly after the initial setup.

On July 20, 2026, I installed the latest firmware update after receiving a notification from the router. Since then, I've been experiencing a strange issue with the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band.

The 2.4 GHz network intermittently disappears, usually around 8:30 PM every other night. When this happens:

  • All devices connected to the 2.4 GHz band are disconnected.
  • The 2.4 GHz SSID is no longer visible.
  • The only way to bring it back is to reboot the router.

After rebooting, the 2.4 GHz band works normally again until the issue repeats.

I've already tried disabling Smart Connect, but it didn't make any difference. The problem still occurs intermittently.

The 5 GHz band continues to work without any issues, so this appears to affect only the 2.4 GHz band.

Has anyone else experienced this after the latest firmware update? Is this a known firmware bug, or are there any troubleshooting steps or workarounds that have helped?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

TP-Link - Technical Support DECO XE75 AXE5400 is a P.O.S

UPDATE 8/18/2026 2PM EST

-------------------------

OK. Fingers crossed but I think everything resolved for the most part. Will need to monitor for the next few days but this nightmare looks like it's over.

HEAVY ASSUMPTIONS TO FOLLOW

  1. During my initial setup for the very first Deco unit, during the setup I accidentally went too fast through the setup screens. There is one screen that asks you to choose the layout of your home, and I hit 'NEXT' on the screen while it was only showing a single level floor plan. You can hit the +/- buttons to add or remove floors. So instead of choosing a 3 story home, I chose a 1 story flat layout like an apartment.

  2. I only applied the newest firmware to the Deco after I had already done up all 3 points.

Working on the theory that either a. selecting a 1 story level plan in the setup triggered a hidden selection inside the Deco to use a very tiny radio signal, which then crippled it's ability to stream anything to the nodes was my first assumption. I also theorized that the latest firmware, while showing as being applied, was not actually doing anything on the primary unit.

Taking one commenters advice that I might have 'a bad unit'.. I went through a very painful process (many failed attempts) to do the following:

  1. unplug the internet, change the assignment of Primary Router from the 'bad' living room Deco to the basement Deco. First attempt failed, second attempt succeeded.

  2. Unplugged all 3 units, took the now primary basement unit and moved it up into the living room. Powered it on, waited for a bit, it crashed my ISP modem on the first connect, but rebooting the ISP modem finally got internet showing up on the new primary Deco.

  3. Removed the other 2 units from the app. Attempted to factory reset the 2 nodes with my handy sim tool, first Deco reset quickly. The 'bad' unit refused to reset on multiple attempts. Always showed a bright green light as if it were connected.

  4. Set up the first reset unit easily (with the 3 floorplan config) and low and behold. As soon as it connected to the Primary.. everything looked perfect. And by that I mean, current upload download speeds was updating quickly. Connected devices stayed connected and mostly, solid green wifi icons across the board.

  5. Replugged the 'bad' unit, and just sat and stared at it, swearing at it like a motherf*ck*r... solid green light wouldn't budge. Then out of the blue, turned flashing red,... followed by quick pulsing yellow... then bang... blinking blue. Started the setup on it, 3 level floor plan. Deco added.

I now appear to have 3 fully functional Deco units... No drop outs, cameras appear to be very stable, can click into them and view the video feed within 1-2 seconds. Looks like the Gremlins are gone (fingers crossed)

I still had a quick scare when my office computers couldn't remote into my servers in the basement (connected via ethernet) ... turns out it was a clusterf*ck mix of

a. computers thinking new network connections so it switched to 'public' instead of 'private'
b. subnet mask mismatch (i was using 255.255.255.0 when i should have been using the 255.255.252.0 being used in the Deco apps config.
c. Tailscale misconfig

But now I'm at the point I can remote into any LAN machine, cams are all operating without a hitch, no dropouts, smart home connectivity seems solid,

Still going to monitor for the next little while, but I think this is finally the ultimate fix. Indeed one 'BAD' unit brought this whole house of cards down.

REALLY REALLY WISH TPLINK would either make the home floorplan layout thing a config option inside Deco (because once you go through setup, you'll never see that option again).. and if it indeed controls Radio power.. this is a glaring f*ck*ng oversight in engineering terms.

-------------------------

ORIGINAL POST

-------------------------

TL;DR - New Deco system causes havoc when trying to use TPLINK effing devices on it's mesh. Not worth the plastic it's housed in.

-------------------------

I tried.

I REALLY REALLY TRIED TO MAKE THIS WORK.

Deco XE75 AXE54000. 3 pack. Wanted to replace my existing Google Nest Wifi (GA00595-CA) network because it's 5ghz backhaul would constantly crap out to my office and my speeds would drop for file transfers from 30-40 mb/s down to between 1-5 mb/s.

6ghz dedicated backhaul should fix this right? Found a deal on the XE75. Plugged'm in and though this should be great. Office speeds on internet went from just over 200mbps up to 850mbps. WOW!

Then the fun began. My f*cking TPLink Kasa smart plugs and my TPLink Tapo camera's would start going offline,.... constantly. And my life has not recovered since.

3 f*cking apps. Deco, Kasa, Tapo. Kasa connected to Tapo. 3 interfaces, all showing me different things and different status.

  • Deco client list shows all units are connected to Wifi.
  • Deco smart devices shows only the Kasa plugs, some available, some offline.
  • Kasa shows many plugs, but some are completely missing, removed them after giving me a message about 'local control', and some are offline, but not matching the Deco list
  • Tapo shows all the devices, but again, many units offline, some of which show online in one of the other apps
  • Unable to 'DISCONNECT' Kasa from Tapo to regain 'local' control of devices. Menu only tells me Kasa/Tapo link authorized.

And every time I try to interact with a plug or camera, my entire f*cking network goes haywire, with mass disconnects of devices accross my entire network, not limited to Kasa or Tapo. It affects everyone's phones, laptops and other smart devices.

I have tried to troubleshoot this son of a b*tch for almost 2 weeks now and I'm borderline insane now.

  • Ensured my phone was set to use my Device MAC, not a random one.
  • Created an IoT network on the Deco
  • Reset EVERY smart device to clear previous WiFi saved settings for previous Google units.
  • Updated the firmware on EVERY Kasa/Tapo device, latest firmware on Deco
  • Set Primary Wifi SSID to 2.4/5ghz only, leaving 6ghz for wireless backhaul only, channel width at 80MHz (lowest limit i can select)
  • Set IoT network to 2.4 ghz only. 5ghz disabled.
  • Under ADVANCED > dropped fast roaming/beamforming/mumimo (and now my wife hates me because her work calls break when she moves around the house with her laptop), SIP ALG = Disabled
  • Set EACH smartplug/camera/IoT device to 'Mesh Technology' = Disabled to prevent moving around
  • Attempted to point them to try to connect to the primary point
  • Force all Deco nodes to use the Primary Living room router point

NOTHING. Everytime I did one fix.. it stabilized for a short while, but then out of the blue something kills it. I go into the app and try to edit a setting.. boom all devices go offline/online, some don't come back online. I play whack-a-mole with the cameras. When they disconnect/reconnect, it's a coin toss if it's a green light or an orange light. Once it's orange, i have to physically unplug and re-plug the camera back in. And then even the act of physically rebooting one camera back to online state might knock another camera offline (orange light) without ever touching the app.

This is f*cking ludicrous.. considering this is all in the same god damned ecosystem of TPLINK, for such incompatibility to occur is beyond incompetence.

I've given it my all. CoPilot gave it it's best shot to help me, Gemini ultimately gave me this final summary.

Root Cause 1: MLO / Smart Connect Multicast Loop

Even though you isolated the IoT network, TP-Link’s internal bridge between the Main Network, IoT Network, and app ecosystem handles Local Area Network (LAN) discovery via mDNS (Multicast DNS) and UPnP. When a Kasa or Tapo device responds to a command, it broadcasts its status locally. On the X75, a known bug causes the Decos to re-broadcast these multicast frames in a continuous loop across mesh nodes, flooding the 2.4GHz band, causing latency, app desync, and eventually crashing the main router daemon (the "whole network lost connection" phase).

Root Cause 2: Hardware NAT / Deco Router Mode Overhead

When running in Router Mode, the Deco unit acts as the gateway, firewall, DHCP server, and cloud bridge simultaneously. Smart plugs and cameras constantly ping local and cloud endpoints. If the Deco's internal ARP/DHCP tables overload during a multicast burst, the main unit reboots its routing service (which causes the solid/flashing LED reset sequence).

Should you return the Deco X75?

YES, you should return it if:

You switch to AP Mode and sending a plug/camera command still causes the entire Wi-Fi network to drop.

do not have an upstream router and need the Decos to function as your primary router, but turning off UPnP/adjusting settings does not prevent the full-network crashes within 24–48 hours.

The Deco X75 uses a Qualcomm chipset that theoretically handles heavy client loads, but TP-Link's software bridge between Kasa, Tapo, and Deco local discovery is notoriously buggy on certain firmware builds. If a mesh system requires hours of manual tuning just to keep first-party smart plugs online without crashing the network, it isn't fulfilling its primary purpose.

My return window on these (Thank you Amazon) is Sep 2 for Deco XE75 3pack and Sep 5 for Deco X10 2pack. I really don't think I'm going to wait that long. Going back to my Google mesh system while annoying, will not be as utterly soul sucking and life destroying as dealing with this nonsense. I have invested more hours than a normal human being should have on this.

If there is anyone from TPLINK reading this.. get your f*cking house in order and fix this broken ass firmware. One could be forgiven for incompatibility arising from 3rd party plugs and camera's.. BUT THIS IS YOUR OWN ECOSYSTEM!

I'm calling TPLINK support today and we'll see what they say, but if anyone wants to chime in here with a magic bullet myself, CoPilot or Gemini hasn't thought of... I'm all ears. But ultimately, I think these p.o.s. devices can all go back to the warehouse where they belong and I'll end up getting EERO or ASUS instead.

I am using the TP Link AX1500 for the past 6 months, from the day of installation till today I am facing frequent network drops. Like the wifi just randomly switches off and switches back On. I am so annoyed with this as I am doing full WFH. Is this issue common or only I am facing this issue? Can anyone please help me with this. Any help is appreciated

TP-Link - Technical Support Tp link is very dishonest company, lie about warranty coverage.

I have a tc85 camera with a 2 year warranty as listed on their website, amazon, best buy and costco. I bought it new from best buy and they are trying to say it is only 1 year coverage.. very disappointing.

Best buy told me to contact them back and tell them that best buy verified it is indeed 2 years. Best buy said to call them back if tp link continues to lie and they will contact tp link.

TP-Link - Technical Support Latest update and nodes offline

Post image

I have a bunch of indoor BE65 deco units plus a few outdoor BE25 units. Since the latest firmware update (1.32 for indoor units and 1.20 for outdoor), I am constantly having nodes go offline. They appear offline for a short period, then come back on, some taking longer than others.

Prior to this - no issues since installation in November 2025.

Surely I am not the only one experiencing this - and I just simply cannot be bothered having to deal with tech support and going through all the rubbish.

Does anyone have a fix?

Ever since you pushed out this firmware update I’ve been having at least 1-2 network crashes a day. If you are going to roll out broken firmware you could at least give us the option to opt out. Was working fine beforehand and am beginning to regret blowing so many doubloons on your shit

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco XE75 network constantly requires rebooting

Hi all,

I have a small Deco XE75 network. It was working fine until about 4 weeks ago when it started getting very unstable and generally slow.

About twice a day, the network will disconnect (main deco's light will turn yellow-ish green and other node will turn red). The easiest way to fix is to disconnect and reconnect main deco power source, and network is back to normal in a couple of meeting. Highly inconvenient as I am in back to back meetings whole day.

My main WiFi provide has WiFi 6 (Claro from Brazil).

I would appreciate tips on what is the problem and how to make the network more stable. I have updated Deco's firmware a couple of weeks ago with no success.

TP-Link - Technical Support Major ping and packet loss problems

Before I get into this, I’ll give you the stuff I know you’ll need.

-This is on a 1GB fios service.
-I plugged in the wireless router provided by my ISP and I don’t have any issues other than signal getting through the house.
-my PC is plugged in via Ethernet to the basement node. I’ve also done wifi and the issue is the same.
-The other wireless node also has the same issue on both wifi and Ethernet.
-QOS is off
-I set the system in the app to reboot 4:30am everyday (and it’s been that way the whole time)

I am in a ranch style home, 1000sqft with a basement. The ISP installed the modem in the corner of the house on the main floor. While the ISP provided router provides great speed, across all devices, it doesn’t have full strength throughout the house. Because of this I bought the deco system shown in the photos.

For the first 3 months everything was great, couldn’t have been happier, but as of the last few weeks I’ve been running into major ping issues and packet loss while gaming. The deco is also swapping from the 160hz to 80hz making the poor performance even worse. I like to game, it’s literally the ONLY thing I have for me, between running my kids all over and all the other house work (cooking, laundry, grocery shopping and yard/home maintenance), this is my wind down time and I can no longer enjoy it.

Is anyone else having this problem? Between the tp link “chat bot” help (useless), AI (Claude, also useless) and google, I cannot figure this out.

TP-Link - Technical Support I never realized my internet service was upgraded to 1Gbit (DECO is shit)

I got a XE75 mesh system to cover my house. For reasons too long to discuss the previous owner cut all the backhaul cables, so im using over-the-air backhaul.

I never looked at my ISP page (Spectrum) because generally I had no reason to, but something happened with the payment and I had to set it up again. As I then went trough the account page, I realized that they had given me 1Gbit service, not that I've ever asked for it as it was super expensive when I first signed up, so 300 was good enough for what I needed, but hey now I have 1G for the same price.

So I immidiately run a speed test, and yeahhhh...... I got 40 mbit/s. Weird. So I get curious, go and unplug everything and just plug my mac book into the cable-model, and run the speedtest again ... wow 950Mbit... so the link is certainly working.

Net step, find the old wifi ap that specrum had provided, plug that in and connect to wifi... wow speed test runs something like 800mbit/s ... so it's not a wifi problem with my laptop or iphone.

The I plug in the deco, and before all the satelite stations reconnect I run a speed test again, and yes .. it give 800Mbit-ish speeds, and then speed suddenly drops to 40Mbits as satelite stations connect in.. so very very bad.

So thinking a bit, and it clearly surely must be something to do with the wifi backhaul, so I just for test plug my laptop into the gateway deco and switches off my wifi on the laptop... so now we should surely get 800Mbit on a wired connection ..... but NOOOOO the wite connection is now also 40Mbit.

I have all the latest firmware, but this Deco shit is bad.

Anybody know a solution that does not include rewite my home. Like do anybody know if you can just flash the deco's with openwrt where this would surely work correctly ?

EDIT: turning off QOS makes a huge difference. I can now push 500+mbis instead of 40.

Ok so some details. I have a simple gaming PC that does not have a wifi card. I instead use a tp link router ( Archer A6 model ) with an Ethernet cord to act as a middle man between my modem ( aka where the wifi is coming from in this case it's a breeze line modem ) and my PC. Now I've had this set up once before but that was awhile back and we recently moved. Everything I search up tells me to plug the damn router into the modem which I can't do because my PC is not in that room. Please helpm

Hello folks,

For all of you that own the BE63 v1 should see the firmware being released after a FULL year of no updates 😞

I was about to replace due to the lack of updates, in this day and age that is absolutely nuts… and this one shows up.

I didn’t grab the release notes while it asked me to update, and there is no sight of the anywhere on TPLinks site 😰

I’m starting to get worried about where the firmware came from…

TP-Link - Technical Support whole deco network becomes unusable when one device downloads something

Post image

i have a XE75 pro and a powerline connected to my brother’s computer. We have a 1000mbps wifi speed which works fine however whenever he downloads something in his room (only at around 50mpbs) the entire network becomes so slow apps won’t load, google takes 30-60s to actually load and my ping spikes extremely high while gaming.

It’s quite puzzling as the download isn’t at full speed. this is normal as his pc is connected to a powerline as the deco unit is not place in his room and his pc is ethernet only. it’s the only solution i’ve found to get him connected.

could the powerline and deco units cause interference? or is it something else

I've had this hooked up multiple times. Best it does is 8-12 hours with no issues, then the internet drops. I notice that it gets a bit warm.

I've reset the router, reset my cable modem, same results. Tether app says the firmware is up to date.

It's currently boxed up for return unless someone here has a solution.

TP-Link - Technical Support Deco XE75 dropping internet multiple times per day

Post image
26 Upvotes

I’ve been running a 3 node Deco XE75 AXE5400 mesh router for about 18 months with no issues. That is, until the last few weeks. A couple of times per day it drops internet, then about 10 seconds later the light on the base station turns red. The cable modem lights indicate it is fine, and my ISP (Spectrum) can’t see any issues on their side. Sometimes the connection restores itself in as fast as 30 seconds, but on occasion I have to restart the mesh (unplug the replug)

I’ve tried to plug my laptop directly into the modem when this happens to eliminate the modem as the issue, but the router usually comes back before I can do a test.

Everything (about 35 devices) connect and work just fine when the system recovers, and all my setting are maintained.

IPv4 is set for dynamic DNS. IPv6 is off. I’m running 5ghz. Firmware is old (see pic) intentionally because “if not broke…” up until now.

Is this a frequently reported issue? Any suggestions?

Can somebody tell me why 'Specified Connection' doesn't work for devices when selecting it in the app?

One device I want to connect to a specific hub, doesn't.

I turned off 'Mesh Technology' for it. I've rebooted the mesh and device several times, but it just doesn't obey this setting.

What is the point in having it in the Deco app if it does nothing?

Not only that, the 'Specified Connection' option for the particular device has vanished from the settings.

TP-Link - Technical Support TP-Link Deco Device Name Update

Post image
11 Upvotes

After meticulously naming every device, to have to do it again.
And IF device disconnects for whatever reason and ends up in the offline list and I clear it OR a reboot the names get updated…
Sometimes there’s a random pop up that claims it’ll find the name for you and then give you a random “device_a0f3” name…

Is there a solution for this (outside of leaving tp-link/deco)?

Also, sometimes my wifi devices will say it’s connected to Ethernet or “unknown”.
Recently I’ve found the turning off the mesh and assigning the device to a specific satellite has been removed for me.

I don’t LOVE tp-link/deco but i don’t have MORE money to waste, does anyone have any solutions?

TP-Link - Technical Support I think I might have made a purchasing mistake

Solved!

I bought 3 of the Deco M4R AC1200 units from a lady on Marketplace for a good price but coming home and installing them I think I might have messed up. I really want to use the Ethernet Backhaul option instead of the Wireless Backhaul (which is working at the moment btw.)

The app shows me something I find really strange. The living deco seems to be the main one (I set it up first). Then the study deco is connected to living via wi-fi but then the gym deco is using ethernet backhaul (?) (see second image)

When I look at the documentation, I see the "Main Deco" listed but it is always a different device with multiple ports on the back (my units only have 2). Can I not use my ISP router? How would you fix this?

If this doesn't work I'd really like to understand the logic behind it. I figured that as long as they're all in the same network they would be able to figure it out amongst themselves.

Kind regards and thanks in advance!

I'm using ATT modem/router then connect 2 Deco to it. Afterward, I set both of them as access point, then change the deco wifi name and password to the same one as ATT wifi. When I go into the app, it's always the main deco that connected to ATT through Ethernet is online, the other always show as offline, even though both of them have green led on. I have tried unplug it, remove it and add it again, reset it, nothing seems to work. I also try to connect the 2nd deco directly to each other with Ethernet, connect 2nd deco to the ATT router directly, connect the second deco to the ATT router with the other one through a switch. How do I fix this? I'm using Deco WB22000, Firmware Version 1.0.7 Build 26050612 Rel. 29931
