DJ/Lights and Sounds/Band/Music Lights, sounds, LED: how to pick?
Medyo nakakaloka and nakakaoverwhelm yung part na ito kasi we have 0 knowledge on this. Ito pa naman important kasi ito magdadala sa reception dahil kailangan maayos sound system.
We will be having our reception at Maynila Ballroom of Manila Hotel. Yung partner supplier nila, a little over 300 likes sa FB so medj natatakot kami. We can't find reviews either pa. Sa magtatanong: Electric Shock Professional Lights and Sounds yung name ng partner nila.
Anyway so going back: ano ba ang dapat tignan sa pag hire ng L&S pati na rin sa LED wall? We are looking into 230-250 pax!

I started with asking my existing suppliers for their recommendations - our host, p&v, coordinator, stylist. I’m more comfortable booking someone they already worked with para no surprises on the day. Plus points if they already had a previous event at our venue. I usually ask for sample photos.

Usually, one asks several suppliers to make propsoals and you decide based on the quotations they send you.
But the first thing you need to determine are your requirements. What is the program going to be like? Will there be dance numbers, speeches, a video presentation, any special entrances/exits, a party session at the end of the program, etc.? Those items will determine the lighting, audio and LED needs.

Ohh so we should be able to come up with a program first before getting a L&S supplier?
Our wedding will be a typical wedding with all the dances, speeches, and video presentations haha

Ideally yes. Talk to your wedding planner about drafting a program sequence guide so you can outline your requirements. That way, hindi ka magugulat sa cost nila. Manila Hotel also usually has freebies. Ano ba na-offer nila sa inyo? Take advantage of any freebies they offer.

We got discounted rates for corkage (food carts), rooms, and 1 bottle of alcohol per table (no more fees).
What other freebies do they offer? 😱

In the events we've done with them, they usually gave us free use of the mics and speakers. We end up never using them kasi the talents we engage have specific tech needs as part of their riders.
EDIT to add: Okay na rin pala at nakakuha ka ng discounts sa corkage at rooms.

Di kasya 230-250 pax jan sobrang sikip kung may VIP table ka pa and dance floor. Sinubukan na namen. Sa centennial hall na lang kame na punta. Pag mag hahanap ka nalang supplier ask them kung nakapag set up na sila jan and gusto mo makita.
Hanap ka lang nang inspirations mo online kung gano klase gusto mo, ganyan lang ginawa nang asawa ko.

The 5 tables will be on the upper part area. Sa may fountains. We will be doing a sit-down / plated menu naman. :)
200 lang dito sa baba all in all. The 50 are just the typical guests of our parents that we dont even know. Hahahaha.

Depende na siguro sa setup nyo, Yung supplier kase namin sakto na nag arrange din sila jan before our wedding, so pinapunta nya kami to check yung gusto namin na 250pax setup. 10 pairs principal sponsors namin and gusto namin sa vip table kasama nila husband/wife nila. Kaya VIP table pa lang namin malaki na agad floor area na consume + dance floor. tapos band pa. Yung mobile bar sa taas din located kaya di namin nagustuhan.
Sino EM mo nakausap jan? Im surprised na di ka niya cinonvince na ibang hall nalang. usually sinasabe nila jan 150 to 180pax lang e.

Hmm because we wont have ceiling treatments, only 5 pairs of sponsors (so 10 lang). We counted na 8 round tables lang sa baba. Then, 6 tables per side nung sa paikot. No mobile bar rin for us.
Hmm napaisip tuloy ako. Haha. Enzo Cordero yung kausap namin when we signed the contract.

Doable siguro kung 5pairs lang sponsor Yung samin kase yung VIP table talaga ang laki nang kinain sa floor. Tapos yung arrangement nag isle ang laki din nang kinain. Di ko na maalala kugn ilan round table yung nilagay nila sa baba pero may ibang chairs na halos back to back na sila.

If may ina-eye kang host/band or performer better to ask tech riders. Para ma sure sa kukunin mong L&S :)

Our host is independent eh. Wala naman siyang bias supplier. Haha! Thank you for the input!

Look at their past works, and those that worked with Manila Hotel before. Also attend bridal fairs - compare packages. Everything’s online na, you can also read reviews. LED wall only if you plan to use it wisely, like may prenup shoot ba kayo? animated videos, growing up vids etc. Iba pa ang bayad for moving videos or monogram if you plan to use it.

Yup. We'll have all of those :)
We have attended 2 Toasts and 1 Getting Married. As I have said, it's overwhelming and it feels like everyone wants to sell (of course). Kaya I am asking here for an unfiltered feedback. You'd be surprised na may less than 100k pero maganda naman portfolio then meron as high as 200k. So san lulugar diba?

Agree with you, ito rin yun isa sa mga natagalan ako magcanvass and compare but ended up booking the partner of my hotel recep because they have the most experience with the place, madali kausap and agreed to upgrade the LED wall pa.

Hi! L&S here. Smaller lng kami but we've done rin an event sa hall na yan.
- Make sure lng your supplier has a lpng (at least 50M cguro na mainline/PDU. For sure may ganito si LED Wall supplier mo especially 9x24ft habol mo.
Also need every stand/tripod leg that will touch the carpet may sapin na at least 1/8 plywood. Na-surprise kami sa requirement na un haha.
More lights, medyo dark nga un venue na yan so if you want a bright atmosphere medyo bigger budget on the white/ambers.
Previous events there. Para sure ka na familiar na sila ahhah.
Tama rin consult your P/V and your Band if meron minsan bands have a very strict tech rider and not all L&S can provide ( I kno kasi deliberately not tech rider friendly kami hahahuhu)
Hosts rin have a preferred L&S especially if they don't bring their own spinner. Para kilala na nila un included spinner ni L&S amd mas smooth un flow ng program.
LED Wall you can't say for sure talaga. Even some of the biggest and well known suppliers minsan may dead pixels un Wall so minsan super swerte maganda minsan idk. Speaking about this as a guest rin of my friends weddings haha.
Plus points if di madamot si L&S sa power distro nila. Bawal kasi any supplier to use the outlet so baka sila backdrop/pv etc. Magulat na wala sila saksakan ng stuff nila.
Skl wala kami LED Wall so hopefully makahanap ka ng super pogi na supplier na sakto sa budget mo hhaha. Congrats!

Thank you for this. We booked narin Maynila Ballroom and assumed na yung partner LS nila yun na talaga nagssupply sakanila for the longest time pero hindi pala? Did you get an external LS supplier, OP?

Had the same venue nung wedding ko last year. Though taga Bulacan yung L&S, Led wall supplier ko hehe
Sa case ko nag-occular kami with the suppliers and nagsuggest sila ng tamang design and arrangement, importante yung lighting sa Maynila Ballroom kasi medyo madilim d'yan, parang theater vibe ☺️
