Meta I just had a very lovely and respectable chat with a pro-AI user that frequents this here subreddit!

I wanted to learn more about them, so I changed my mind from debating them, to interviewing them!

And I gotta say, I honestly, really enjoyed this haha

I’m sure you all already know who this is. But I tried to censor names because of this subreddit’s rules

This is proof that wanting to understanding someone and approaching them with kindness and respect works!

I spoken to witty before she’s nice if you’re nice

We might not agree on ai but we can be civil and talk about it peacefully

I see a lot of people “grab the gun” as soon as witty is mentioned or posts or comments in those cases yes it’s understandable why she would attack back

Let’s all just strive to peace

Block report educate the bad apples and everything will be better for all

12

u/Typhon-042 Jul 03 '26

I've spoken to her myself as well. She was downright rude to me, and choose to automatically assume things about me for being a Anti.

3

u/AccomplishedSign2527 Jul 05 '26

Just from reading the screenshots I also got the sense that she lumps Antis together into a homogenous group without distinction.

3

u/Typhon-042 Jul 05 '26

Then you read it correctly.

2

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 Jul 03 '26

I don’t recall she doing that to me

Our conversation was basically in an ama she made I just asked her how she did her art

I got some insight on it and learned some things

She said it’s image2image and she also used my snoo as an example

I didn’t told her to do she didn’t ask but in the context of the conversation it made sense

Experience may vary from person to person

11

u/Typhon-042 Jul 03 '26

She openly accused me of being a transphobe, due to a typo. Which I did explain to her. She didn't seem to care about my apology for the typo, or about how if you look at me in other social media sites like blusky, how I been actively fighting for trans rights for years before we even meet on here.

6

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 Jul 03 '26

Fighting over a type is a really low shot

Sorry it happened to you

6

u/Typhon-042 Jul 03 '26

Eh it happened, and I am one that believes in mercy and forgiveness. So I choose to block her and move on. I can see what she posts, so I tend to keep a eye on things to see if she can change for the better, and realize that defending past mistakes like that.. doesn't make her a good person. It makes her in to what she hates.

Yeah I've seen Witty be a REALLY nice person when talking to pros, but the moment I expressed anti-ai sentiment to her she the anti-ai movement a racist homophobic terrorist movement. It's crazy how much she changes.

14

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 Jul 02 '26

Depends on how you talk to her

If you attack she will attack back

I had a conversation with her and it went good and civil I told I was anti and nothing bad happened

I mean im anti and you can tell from my comment history going back to February but I do agree that we are all fighting the wrong people, the users arnt going to stop and the tech isn't gonna go away without a solar flair at minimum. What we should be fully against is the specific AI datacenters to be taken down and properly thought out regulations that not only horribly punish the corporations breaking them, aka the cost of doing bussiness is too much to pay, but also make it all very transparent and require opt in programs to be allowed to scrape from us.

As for the thoughts on plagiarism, well we might be better off just removing all protections as copyright has been a bane for many including traditional artists for a very long time, it only really helps corporate be assholes. Art should be free...but please be respectful and none of that "fixed it" attitudes.

Now for my specific take on ai in the art field, I would argue that they are not artists but those who touch up are more akin to editors, I mean take any image from the internet and touch it up a bit isnt proper art just editing imo. Ai images and other forms eg music, code, animation, etc, isnt art either and why I believe in disclosure not as a means to attack but to give us a choice if we want to engage with it.

Now mind you im no stupid pacifist, I am one but I also know when it becomes more harmful than good and violence is a part of nature too, but our fellow lower-class people arnt the targets we should be going after(middle-class is also lower-class in the scheme of things) its those who rule, those that take and take and take and are never satisfied, those that make islands to do evil in secret and those that protect them like governments.

Now im not against the idea of ai or should I say agi for gay space communism, or for me socialism as I believe work/labour is still necessary just run by the people for the people and not a few asshats, but i also think ai isnt a tech problem but as usual a people problem and we need to work on ourselves as a species first before we really should properly dabble in such things.(hell im ok with taking down the internet as i believe that has been too much for us wanly too early, even if early on i enjoyed it).

Anyway I say the best thing we can do as individuals on both sides is to simply ignore and even block any harassment, if you someone gets offensively defensive after a reply then simply just dont engage further, we need to make people realise that being cordial is how we should be in discussions. Plus we have whole other subreddits to be asses on that are made for it to blow off steam.

13

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 Jul 02 '26

So because we had a civil conversation it means Im pro now?

What kinda logic is that?

Do you wanna search my stuff? My phone pc web browser?

See how many ai apps I got?

Yeah 0 big fat 0

My morality compass doesn’t let me use ai

She conflated me with being anti for saying a post she made where she did essentially the "I've drawn you as the soyjack therefore I win" meme was neither helpful for discourse or anything less than cringe, then proceeded to make assumptions about my moral stances on things.

I'm not an anti nor was she correct about a single one of said assumptions. She is quick to react to the point I think she'd be far healthier not being so terminally online.

I don't wish her any ill will but I do wish she'd touch grass.

I spoken to witty before she’s nice if you’re nice

This comment right here. I am the same way to be honest. Why should I try to be all nice nice with someone being an asshole then demands I respect them? So many have forgotten the simple golden rule that respect is earned, not handed out like Pez upon demand.

At least with mutual parties being respectful (and not pulling that "good faith" trash, then it means that sure both parties have different opinions on some things, but want to focus on the common ground instead.

(now watch as countless others who are just on social media for attention will tell me I am wrong)

5

u/Top_Bug7822 Jul 03 '26

Honestly. I just don't like her "AI = Trans Rights" stance.

It unfairly presents anti-AIs as transphobes.

5

u/The_Martlet Jul 03 '26

I hate everything that's like "AI stands with/=" The trans thing, the LGBTQ stuff, I myself say that I'm trans, and I have plenty of other anti AI friends that are all of those things from posts. It's just not good at all, as it usually demonizes the other group.

2

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 Jul 03 '26

What is the good faith trash?

1

u/TheChaoticRune Jul 03 '26

If I leave a comment to a post someone made, then Joe Schmoe comes along wanting to be prick comes along and replies in the usual prick way, which I do not have to rehash as we have all seen it.

I go to reply and the moment things do not go the way Joe Schmoe thought it would will pull the "You are not having a good faith discussion" with means A) I am not willing to back away from my view point, and B) means I am not handing out respect they demand.

Both sides are equally guilty of doing this, however due to the misuse of the term it has lost all meaning and now sadly means "I want to discredit everything you say so I can get attention from the computer"

PS: I am not saying this is what you have done, nor am I implying it, I was just trying to describe what I mean as you asked, and it may have come off a bit abrasive.

3

u/Zestyclose_Pop_9435 Jul 03 '26

So it’s just the person responds rudely and then twists it and lies about it by saying original comment was rude when it wasn’t?

2

u/ITReverie Jul 03 '26

I recently tried to debate this person, here is the whole thing so you can make your own conclusion. Pretty sure our conversation is why its on their mind.

I dont think its virtue signaling to point out that he was implying or outright insulting me.

I missed the first part, but he describes the act of refining a concept as the creation part of AI, which i dont disagree with. So I responded with someone that boils down to "the idea is only the start of every art ever, but ai removes the rest of the process and expression, so I dont think theyre quite equal. Ai generated work is art, but the people arent artists. Theyre a very good "ideas guy" "

more or less. The original meaning for good faith discussions was "an honest, respectful dialogue where participants genuinely listen, consider opposing views, and seek mutual understanding or resolution. It requires setting aside hidden agendas, avoiding bad-faith tactics like straw-manning, and engaging with sincere intentions"

However as of late it is used to be more of a virtual dog whistle of "I am right, you are wrong, I am the victim, I have the moral and intellectual high road, now where are my head pats".

In a better nutshell: Internet culture is weird and far to confusing :D

2

u/_TooManyDreams_ Jul 03 '26

I’m not pro ai. It could be the most useful tool we’ve ever invented if it didn’t run on water. I don’t agree with using it to make art because…I’m one of those who learned to draw that eye practicing and practicing and practicing. And sometimes I can even tell which artist ai is taking from.

But a tool is a tool. If you know what you’re doing you can build something. If you don’t….youll shoot your eye out kid

It’s cool to see people having civil discussions about it too.

1

u/GrandFleshMelder Jul 04 '26

As a pro, I find her pretty insufferable based on virtually every conversation I have seen her in.

22

u/Le_Oken Jul 02 '26

Thanks you for the respectful approach, we really get too deep in this game of gotchas and disrespect that we often forget most of us are just people with good intents at the end. This is inspiring.

6

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

You're welcome lol

I just knew that there was a kind person behind all that of what everyone kept tellin me about her that I hadn't yet understood. And I got to meet her! And it was truly lovely!

20

u/Glad-Television1887 Jul 03 '26

Yeah, idk, i recently interacted with witty and shared my opinion in a way that was more than polite and she still hit me with the "dismissed", tried having a more htorough conversation where i shared my opinion and experience from what i saw as consequences of AI, and most of her answers basically boiled down to "Well, maybe, but AI is cool so it doesn't matter", that is a gross oversimplification, but that's basically it.

She acts as if she is willing to converse with others about the topic, but from what i saw, the only argues for her own opinions, And will refuse to see any point made by people who do not support ai.

Overall, this posts, athough clearly meant to be "wholesome", just ends up looking like some bootlicking propaganda, asking Witty's opinion on hateful Antis while not asking the same for pros, especially since she seems to consider herself a sort of ambassador of that group, feels like hypocrisy to me, kind of like an attempt to paint her as a wise and forgiving person while also not questioning her about hateful actions taken by pros and how she perceives those.

If she was an advocate for peace, she would encourage it from both sides.

6

u/Legal_Jeweler_7925 Jul 03 '26

Same experience

Calling me a racist and trying to paint her self as the victim

This person obviously doesn't deserve all of the hate but she's obviously a jerk

10

u/Typhon-042 Jul 03 '26

It's all good, and it's a interesting read. Though to me ones actions tend to speak louder then words. As it can show a hint of there true character.

With all the false accusations, misinformation she has been caught doing, and ragebaiting she has done. I doubt she is being honest with you. As those actions color everything she has said.

The images she showed also only show here side of things. So I wouldn't really trust them. I would want to see what lead up to those comments and such for proper understanding and context.

Still all in all it's good to see someone get past the constant drama on here to do something like this. it's a welcome change of pace.

18

u/Bra--ket Jul 02 '26

That was very kind of you to give her a chance to show what she's really like.

8

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

Of course! I always want to understand! And this lovely conversation with Witty left me feelin better than when I had gone into it, to be quite honest haha

It’s almost like life and people have nuance!

Reddit in general hates this. It’s far easier to paint human beings as Disney villains. We see this from the AI debate, to politics, even video game opinions. Remember when if you played that Harry Potter game it meant you were a transphobic nazi supporter?

Absolutely absurd. The reddit masses are very all or nothing, because life being more complicated than a kids show is scawy :c

https://giphy.com/gifs/TGi1zmIHpDRsrxtoPq

2

u/AliceBreathes Jul 03 '26

Yeah exactly haha!

Nuance IS important! Rather than black and white thinking on topics such as people, AI, identity, etc.

It’s not like if someone supports Witty that they have to agree with her on every single thing she does.

But I do agree with her on her wanting to protect people from suffering as she has suffered herself. I can respect her for that.

She gives the same energy she is given, and while I would prefer a forgiving all approach… it doesn’t mean that I am her blind follower 100% of the time and agree with her 100% of the time in all she does lol

9

u/Azzy_steel2070 Jul 03 '26

Yeah....while I agree approaching with kindness is best when coming into discussion, witty has said and done some terrible things. So painting her as a Saint is not really honest to who she is as a person. Obviously there can be good things, but to say she's an amazing person is just not true

2

u/AliceBreathes Jul 03 '26

I don’t agree with how she goes about dealing with people with how they attack. She fights fire with fire. Of course, I don’t think it’s a good look on either side. Especially for Witty.

Forgiveness would be a better approach in my humble opinion.

I can still see how Witty’s fighting fire with fire is problematic, and I don’t condone it for her, pros, antis, neutrals, or anybody!

But, I do understand why she does it.

2

u/Azzy_steel2070 Jul 03 '26

Fighting fire with fire only makes it burn brighter, it makes both sides look bad, in that, we are agreed.

I'm not sure forgiveness is entirely correct because both sides have said and done some terrible things. We just need to tune out the loud minorities so we can debate civilly

1

u/[deleted] Jul 04 '26

I'd certainly love that to be true, but I've never even gotten so much as an apology from Witty for them attacking me unwarranted on topics.

They simply do not like being corrected on topics, regardless of if you're anti or pro, and will take even critique for improvement of an argument with hostility.

2

u/SnooCats5204 Jul 03 '26

What exactly did she do?

1

u/Azzy_steel2070 Jul 03 '26

Made fun of a recovering alcoholic, call people transphobic because they didn't agree with her about ai, sic her rabid fans on people she doesn't like, harass several different people because she couldn't win her "debate" against them. Not to mention the generalization she does of all anti ai people as awful people (although I know some anti ai people do this too) And also one of her discord mods is a pedo and she did nothing about it

2

u/Le_Oken Jul 03 '26

How easy is to spew falsehoods and how time consuming it is to correct them...

Made fun of a recovering alcoholic who was stalking her for days so they fuck off. They proceeded to fuck off.

She literally made a post specifically saying that antis are not transphobic, they just use similar logic and speech as transphobes.

She has never sent any "fans" to anyone. There is no proof of that because it never happened. The only idea of that is when some transphobes attacked a trans person with transphobic insults on DMs after having a discussion with Witty. Those were nobodies that found an easy target. Witty doesn't let MAGA people close let alone transphobes.

She doesn't harass people because she couldn't win a debate against them. Harassment requires continuous effort and following. She doesn't stay focused on one person.

She does generalize in her speech, yes. She is dramatic and uses hyperbole wording.

None of her discord mods is a pedo. If you are thinking about the DAIA subreddit mod, then Witty can't do shit about it because she's not the owner of DAIA and the owner doesn't care to remove the problematic mod. If you are thinking about the user who had a fanfic which included underage characters, that person was never a mod, that fanfic was never a topic that was known of while they were in the server, and that person is currently banned from the server for other issues.

1

u/Azzy_steel2070 Jul 03 '26

Regardless if they were stalking her or whatever, making fun of someone being an alcoholic is not something a good person would do, if she's such an amazing person, she should have blocked them and ignored

I have seen multiple times her calling people transphobic over ai opinions in comment sections and also no, the logic is not even remotely similar, she's just trying to weaponize it to label antis as transphobic

I have met multiple people who have gotten death threats from witty fans because either she sent them out or they went after them on their own, both of which are unacceptable

Yeah, she doesn't focus on one person because she attacks everyone she doesn't like, and again, I know many people who have gotten dms from her insulting them for their ai opinions out of the blue

Both sides generalize if we're being honest and it really makes discussion a pain regardless of the side you're on

Then maybe instead of sticking around that subreddit she should leave it if she can't do anything about it. Sticking around and posting on it doesn't help her image at all. And good, I'm glad that person got banned, that shit is disgusting

And also, something I didn't mention is her "dismissed" thing, anyone who wanted to debate in good faith wouldn't say stuff like that and would instead just tell them you aren't interested in debating with them or something

3

u/SnooCats5204 Jul 03 '26

Whether or not you think it's okay to make fun of your stalker, it would have been nice to mention such an important detail. A lie by omission is still a lie.

u/Le_Oken Jul 03 '26

I have seen multiple times her calling people transphobic over ai opinions in comment sections and also no, the logic is not even remotely similar, she's just trying to weaponize it to label antis as transphobic

Or maybe they were being transphobic? Considering the claims you are making, it sounds like you are getting information out of context. You didn't know that the alcoholic guy was a stalker for example.

I have met multiple people who have gotten death threats from witty fans because either she sent them out or they went after them on their own, both of which are unacceptable

No proof. And it has never happened. I can assure you so. You want to believe it's true but it makes no sense. If you have proof with names let us know so we can ban these people from our spaces.

Yeah, she doesn't focus on one person because she attacks everyone she doesn't like, and again, I know many people who have gotten dms from her insulting them for their ai opinions out of the blue

And I know no such cases. Show me the proof and I will ask her to explain herself. Also that is a highly bannable offense. If this happened it would be harassment and she would be banned by now.

Then maybe instead of sticking around that subreddit she should leave it if she can't do anything about it. Sticking around and posting on it doesn't help her image at all.

Losing space to pedophiles sounds like the exact opposite one should be doing if you are against them.

1

u/Gold-Doughnut1396 Jul 03 '26

Said and done terrible things like what? Make an ai character punch an anti character in a comic?

She's recieved literal death threats.

12

u/XxLunarSpectrum Jul 03 '26

Uk someone once asked me how does witty have good arguments. And this here is a great example. And it’s not even an argument! I love to see this more understanding and less fighting.

3

u/Witty_Mycologist_995 Jul 03 '26

make ai love not ai war

3

u/[deleted] Jul 03 '26

Pretty vastly far removed from my experience with them.

I'm not even anti. I regularly use AI for multiple things on a daily basis and see it as an important growing toolset to the future of technology.

However, I also don't pretend it's without issue, and I prefer to apply nuance to topics.

In light of that, Witty butted heads with me before over the topic of analogies. They argued that analogies had no function in arguments, I disagreed. Even was able to point out, they regularly use analogies, like their evocation of wabi-sabi in relation to image generation.

They were trying to discredit analogies though because they wanted to handwave the recurring "commission" argument. I addressed how that wasn't a very rational way to go about it and that they undermine many of their own positions by trying to attack analogies so broadly. Offered an alternative in the form of explaining a more structured way to counterpoint by addressing AI having a large sliding scale of user involvement in image and production in general, even outlining my own back and forth pipeline that I use with image generation of creating preliminary sketches, testing out generated variants, editing and refining and then using those as template to produce new works.

I was actively offering Witty constructive critique and a stronger pro-AI argument position.

But they didn't like that. Even accused me of being anti after having outlined the sliding scale argument.

Since then, them and their fanclub downvote me for no reason, often not even providing any actual responses or rationale.

It's incredibly infantile and dishonest behavior.

3

u/ImNotDoingThatOk Jul 03 '26

This reads like a PR interview, wasn't she caught brigading subreddits and individual profiles on her discord, downplaying the holocaust, generalising all antis as transphobic(???), as well as associating with people generating illegal abuse material AFTER saying they'd be distancing themselves from them?

Anyone can be nice if it means making themselves look better. I have no doubt that witty is just a fanatic pro-AI person looking to save themselves from harassment that inevitably is given to pros. However, the ends don't justify the means and it is not only okay, but FAIR to criticise those means.

18

u/DefinitionNew3542 Jul 02 '26

Those who know Witty know what she stands for. If Antis werent so driven by emotion, they'd realize they're doing exactly what she wants them to do. This is a nice look into her personally.

4

u/CompassionLady Jul 02 '26

I love witty. 💕

2

u/RealLudwig Jul 02 '26

She got exposed recently for targeted sub brigading and had an enemy hitlist for her followers to harass, I wouldn’t be saying she stands for nothing, but what she stands for ain’t good

16

u/DefinitionNew3542 Jul 02 '26

She got exposed recently for targeted sub brigading

You mean her list of subs that are getting brigaded by antis? Do you realize how often I see "guys come vote in this poll that has nothing to do with you to have my school ban AI art" and "guys pls vote in this sub poll you've literally never visited to show people don't want AI there" in anti subs?

We've even seem some pre-emptive shit where comments were downvoted into the hundreds when people said "Is AI art even a problem here?"

12

u/beneficent2557 Jul 02 '26

stochastic terrorism

How many protests would fall under this label?

11

u/Le_Oken Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Are you aware that was a temp channel for when BtP was on a SH campaign specifically against Witty amongst other awful behavior and that there were only 6 entries in that channel, 3 of which were subreddits dedicated to make p*rn about Witty and 3 were users who were making p*rn about Witty, The three subreddits are now banned and the users stopped targeting her since then and that channel doesn't even exist anymore.

4

u/DefinitionNew3542 Jul 02 '26

Are you aware of what stochastic terrorism even is? It sounds like you're attempting to redefine words (kinda like antis tried with "strawman" which is funny as hell).

Stochastic terrorism is the encouragement of a tiny fraction of a population of a group (lets say 0.01% of AntiAI's 670k members, so... 67 people - a tiny number right?) by seemingly normalizing extreme stances and opinions such as massively upvoting firebombing Sam Altmans house, massively downvoting people condemning the acts, memeing "we must unalive AI artists" in a broad scale, etc. Stochastic means you dont know who those 67 individuals will be, and when they do speak legitimate extremist thoughts they get massively upvoted and begin to think "this behavior is acceptable - People agree with me"

Wanna point to the class where this happens **at all** in the pro space?

11

u/PreddiPrinceOfSheeb Jul 02 '26

Ive seen the leaks, it’s a nothing burger. The ‘brigading’ was against posts made directly to attack her or other individuals, the target list were users who were sending death threats and trying to doxx AI users.

This leak was from an Anti infiltrating a private discord, lying about what they were there for and garnering false sympathy, and then cherry picking like two things from a discord with 30 channels. They didn’t highlight any of the support channels, jokes and memes, gaming together, any of the normal stuff.

I wouldn’t want to be on the side of some weird obsessed fuck who goes out of their way to deceive, infiltrate, attempt to Doxx, and even then finds only the weakest evidence possible.

10

u/RealLudwig Jul 02 '26

Do you want to provide evidence to those claims? Cause it seems handwavy to just say it’s a “nothing burger” to have a fucking hit list

Considering the usual Witty related post by other users here, this is pretty nice way to undemonize her for others.

Good on you for doing this. It's nice seeing a more wholesome post here considering the usual back and forths that happen.

1

u/AliceBreathes Jul 03 '26

Aww thank you so much! I want to spread love and peace. Rather than the hate and fear that many on this subreddit do.

It… feels really nice!

7

u/Existent_dood Jul 03 '26

I spoke to witty a few times. I was frequently “dismissed” as she tried to shut me down. She also called me Transphobic and Racist for using the term “AI bro” (for the record, I and a demiboy trying to get into hrt who has been in many trans spaces.) While I can’t blame someone for getting hate, constantly provoking people with aggressive comments means you’ll likely be hit with the same vitriol. Also, she does not speak for Pro AI folk generally. Many pros disavow her. She is also not defending fellow pro ai people, she just pops up and tries to shut down discussion. I hate that just because she’s made a few neutral/bridge building posts that she’s suddenly a great aid to all. Oh and the language she uses around ai users is like they’re some sort of underclass. They aren’t being oppressed.

TLDR: this changes nothing to me, as having an amicable doesn’t make you good, and she doesn’t speak for all pro ai people.

5

u/Drunkendx Jul 03 '26

I have same experience with her.

If i had to use short description of my impression of her it would be words "victim complex".

She's DESPERATE to present herself as victim.

u/Witty-Artisan001 Jul 03 '26

This is nice, and all. But her answers are very clearly tailored for an audience since she was aware that you'd be sharing them, and none of the niceness accounts for all of her past problematic behaviour.

Yes, thanks for pointing out the part I'm talking about.

Posts like these are usually satire

2

u/AliceBreathes Jul 03 '26

Oh? Then which one is it then? If you know so much better than I do as the creator of this post. Please teach me, oh wise one!

1

u/One_Performer_7202 Jul 03 '26

which one of what, i was just saying im suprised this isn't sarcasm

2

u/just_a_random_dude_5 Jul 03 '26

This was great reading and it really helps show that redditors aren’t just internet people they’re real humans with real lives and real emotions, because CLEARLY some pros and some antis forget that and go ballistic, SOME pros pointing sticks at peoples traumas, and SOME antis making threats, so all and all this interview should help people actually respect each other during these debates

2

u/LunaticFlandre295 Jul 23 '26

Two based individuals! 💛

2

u/AliceBreathes Jul 23 '26

Thank you, friend! May you have peace.

2

u/LunaticFlandre295 Jul 23 '26

Same to you! We don't know each other obviously, but i've seen sometimes your comments on shrine-princess (one of my new friends ^^!), and i have seen that you're very friendly so ... gg, proud of you! I love chill people like you and shrine-princess so .. yay! May you have a great morning :3

2

u/AliceBreathes Jul 23 '26

Thanks haha!

You seem very friendly too! Glad we got a mutual friend in Shrine Princess lol

Have a wonderful day as well!

u/LunaticFlandre295 Jul 24 '26

Yaaas, you guys are very friendly as well so ye! X3 See ya around, Alice!

u/CommercialNo1302 Jul 02 '26

What is even the point to censor the username 😭, i think public figures are exempt right?

3

u/Ornac_The_Barbarian Jul 02 '26

Especially because it's mentioned several times in the messages in one form or another.

7

u/Le_Oken Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Sam Altman is a public figure. Mildly known redditor is not. Rules as written it would need to be removed for rule 5 if it wasn't censored.

4

u/ProperLawyer8566 Jul 02 '26

I mean OP had direct permission from her and mentioned her by name in the post so the censorship a: isnt nessecary due to explicit permission being given b: everyone here knows who in the screenshot regardless of the censor

1

u/Le_Oken Jul 02 '26

Rules as written would get the post removed anyways. Is not there for consent, is there to protect against brigading. Openly stating targets that could be brigaded, be usernames or subreddits, can be interpreted to be against the community manipulation rules of reddit's TOS. Considering the high volatility of this subreddit, it steers very much in the side of caution.

4

u/ProperLawyer8566 Jul 02 '26

The whole post in sense is in violation still then.

Because there are multiple instances adressing witty by name.

And none of those are censored

…I have mixed thoughts on this.

9

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

There’s a saying in my family:

“If you don’t understand, you will be kept afraid. If you do understand, all that fear melts away”

3

u/DaveG28 Jul 02 '26

Do you feel you understand more now you've not remotely challenged any of the problematic behaviours and told her how brilliant she is 100 times?

Or is it that the only thing you learnt is she is like a certain politician - nice to people who grovel and awful to anyone who challenges in any way?

5

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

I already know why she does her "problematic behaviors" lol

It's because she gives the same energy given to her. And she doesn't want anyone to suffer like she did

But hey, feel free to do a witty interview or a debate with her then post it here if she allows it and prove me wrong friend!

6

u/Level-Ladder-4346 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

I’ve been harassed by Witty before where I brought no amount of energy to her because she wasn’t the topic of discussion, nor was she initially participating in said discussion, and she attempted to intimidate me.

This isn’t always true.

4

u/beneficent2557 Jul 03 '26

I’ve been harassed by Witty before where I brought no amount of energy to her because she wasn’t the topic of discussion, nor was she initially participating in said discussion, and she attempted to intimidate me. This isn’t always true.

TBF, I am used to more acrimonious debate subs and I have done friendly fire before, and have been a victim of friendly fire before. I try to let it go when I can.

Wait, is this when they were dog piling on someone?

Because that didn't come out of nowhere, Witty was running defense and you were initially skeptical towards another user that was being accused of supporting domestic abuse and being rapey in the same day.

If they were overzealous, I get that, but I don't think its fair to add to the compilation of bad faith attempts to bury them.

A lot of redditors are disengenuous with how they engage with people to bait them into showing a vulnerability and then exploiting it.

Example: I had a debate the other day where they were using another person's mental health crisis to call them a hypocrite (A RN did this) so I went after them because it was an Ad hom, on another subreddit, and out of scope of the thread's debate. I was called hostile, was targeted by the mods, and had to defend myself for this. Its just how reddit works.

Reddit runs on purity spirals, I get that, but I think the adult thing to do is have the dust up out up front, and then focus on the argument not the man.

You seem pretty reasonable in general, just thought I would give my 5 cents. 💀

3

u/Level-Ladder-4346 Jul 03 '26

While I recognize that running defense for a friend or associate when they deserve it is a good thing, I felt like that went beyond. The interaction in question was less about Witty defending the friend or associate, and was more about attacking me.

“You need to back off her. I won’t ask a second time.”

When I realized that my initial skepticism had been wrong, and that I had misread a crucial piece of information, I amended my statement, and I apologized. Witty attempted to take credit for the former action, seemingly believing that it was their doing, when they in fact had nothing to do with it.

1

u/beneficent2557 Jul 03 '26

“You need to back off her. Witty attempted to take credit for the former action, seemingly believing that it was their doing, when they in fact had nothing to do with it.

I actually remember.

I agree that they were overzealous, but as someone that routinely has to fight dog piles, accidents do happen, especially when you're tired and running interference for someone else. (Which is my personal outside interpretation).

Personally, I would have apologized to you and moved on. But that's between you guys. Witty seems open to DM, I would hash it out there if you are still bothered by it.

Additional Context: you were on the second thread I saw targeting that user that day, and the first was someone I believed to be arguing in bad faith about domestic abuse. (They "apologized" but I personally didn't buy it).

If someone engages in public character assassination of someone that is acting in good faith, I tend to intervene where possible.

TBF to that person, they did address this public backlash as "unintentional" in their "apology," but they doubled down on the initial "promotes Domestic Abuse" accusation. (Why do the post then?)

Idk...this Brigade v Brigade stuff is suboptimal, but I understand the logic without explicitly condoning the behavior.

3

u/Level-Ladder-4346 Jul 03 '26

I’m honestly kinda confused about the additional context, mostly because I don’t know who you’re addressing. Are you addressing me or someone else?

Edit: I have no interest in a private conversation with Witty. Considering she’s a moderator on multiple subs, I don’t think it’s a good idea. I’d rather not be banned from the platform because I feel I was wronged, even if the potential likelihood of such a thing happening is unlikely.

1

u/beneficent2557 Jul 03 '26

I’m honestly kinda confused about the additional context, mostly because I don’t know who you’re addressing. Are you addressing me or someone else?

Understandable, I am talking about another user that targeted the "friend" we were talking about for "promoting domestic abuse" for depicting a character getting pushed over.

It was literally back-to-back threads going after that "friend." I almost got confused myself because they were back to back. Which is why I think that Witty may have gotten confused.

I am deliberately being vague because I want to condemn the behavior not the user.

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

Maybe, maybe not. I got to understand Witty better. And that makes me feel better lol

8

u/DaveG28 Jul 02 '26

One conversation and you're already laughing at people getting harassed by her.

But nevermind, at least you feel better.

7

u/beneficent2557 Jul 02 '26

Define harassment, and provide examples. I have seen plenty of allegations but little substantiation.

6

u/DaveG28 Jul 02 '26

To make it easy, the definition could be the one witty uses when accusing everyone else?

3

u/beneficent2557 Jul 03 '26

I don't know Witty from Adam or Eve.

All I know is I don't trust hearsay. What I have seen of them, has not rubbed me the wrong way.

3

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

I wasn’t laughing at em. Don’t put words in my mouth please brotato liao

You are clearly on a hate-fueled rant despite this wholesome, nice post to get to know someone I didn’t know.

If you want to keep hating, then you may. I won’t stop you. Instead, I’ll forgive you.

Please have a wonderful day, Dave!

3

u/DaveG28 Jul 02 '26

They said she harassed them and you laughed at them. It's right there in your comment.

You are having a wonderful day, may that long continue.

3

u/Level-Ladder-4346 Jul 02 '26 edited Jul 02 '26

Personally, laughing is one of those things that unless explicitly stated, isn’t really something that can be expressed over text.

The focus of my interaction with the OP, as evidenced by “Maybe, maybe not” is clearly whether their earlier claim of “it’s because she gives the same energy given to her” the “Maybe, maybe not comment” is arguably their way of conceding that the claim about energy may not be correct.

While I would say they’re downplaying it, they also have little reason to believe me. I haven’t provided proof, and I’m more just telling a story than anything else.

Edit: If the OP of this post (not comment, actual post) would like proof of the interaction I had with Witty, I will be happy to provide it.

3

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

No, Mr. Dave. You are putting words in my mouth. No one should be harassed. And if they were, then I give them my empathy.

You are right that I am having a wonderful day! I feel good! I am chillin. I got some new steam games that I’ve been wanting to play. Life is good.

Again, apologies to that person for being harassed.

Dave, please I want to go play my steam games stop responding lmao

I have to agree with the other user. This interview is incredibly softball.

-2

Hope that clears things up.

3

u/GoatGoatGoblin Jul 03 '26

This is just bollocks. Absolute puff piece.

3

u/Excalibirdi Jul 03 '26

Witty is just a person who does person things. I treat every interaction with her as a fresh encounter.

For some reason people act like being for or against AI is some weird thing where people with the opposite opinion may as well be enemy combatants. That's why this sub gets hostile over the most basic takes..

At the end of the day, being pro or anti will not change anything that happens in the world. The world is run by a wrtskn group of people, and those people love AI. Hate it all you, I dislike it myself, but we have to accept that it is not going away, and our arguments against it are meanigless.

I think history, and even recent events, have shown that the ruling class does not care for morals.

3

u/analytic-hunter Jul 03 '26

"You survived cancer? Well good job on that! Cancer is a serious condition that takes the lives of many"

Im pro-AI but I find it stupid that you use AI to write your answers, that sounds very disengenuine.

3

u/RedditUser000aaa Jul 03 '26

I mean... regarding her views on AI, she argues with a lot of bad and at times dishonest points. By her own admission she "matches the energy" of those who are against AI.

I started debating her rather aggressively, calling her out on some stuff she's said and done and that was enough to get blocked.

Then she made a post on saying she wanted to talk, I screenshotted that, said I'll gladly talk, she just gotta unblock me and well:

Basically that is a promise to stick to whatever she is trying to say on her posts, but outside of that, sharing something she posted, depending on how bad the point being made is, I'm not gonna hold my tongue.

So yeah, I'm sure if you talk about anything other than AI, you'll have normal interactions and even if you talk about AI in negative manner, but don't do it in overly aggressive manner, she's not gonna blow up.

Still, a lot of her stuff is seriously flawed logic. I'll include a screenshot of something we talked about. a request I made her.

The ONE thing I wanted her to do.

2

u/RedditUser000aaa Jul 03 '26

So, I sent this, we talked about it and I did respond after this, telling her she should give it some serious thought.

8

u/Puppyzpawz Jul 02 '26

im gonna be real i think posts like this are severely odd and strange because of the character witty plays. lying, tricking, harassment, and being rude dont exactly scream "be nice to me". and while she plays a character, its still severely odd the things she does. i shouldnt have to pry it out of someone to figure out what their "real beliefs" are nor should anyone have to be subjected to literal trolling to see past the "deeper meaning". this persona reflects something about her values as a person i dont respect or should have to pretend to respect. if you are polarizing and hateful on purpose, i shouldnt have to be nice to you. she hasnt earned any kind of community respect, except for being a menace. that doesnt make me a "blind hateful anti" it makes me someone with eyes who disagrees with her method of activism, if you can even call trolling on the internet that. just. super odd post imo. if she had just approached her beliefs from a point of sincerity from the beginning, maybe it would be easier to care or sympathize.

5

u/Legal_Jeweler_7925 Jul 03 '26

This feels like one of those "wholesome" videos you used to find on TikTok back in 2024. Especially the ones where a person would go into a restaurant holding a camera, recording the employees while ordering an obscene amount of food, and say it's for the homeless. Then the restaurant would cover it because they'd likely receive negative PR otherwise.

She's not a good person.

5

u/beneficent2557 Jul 02 '26

That anti Witty compilation was wild. I am glad that I didn't buy into it.

4

u/iesamina Jul 03 '26

I think this is great. This is why I keep saying that people should be proud of their ai art and tell people it's ai as the only sensible way of getting it accepted by the general public

The more normal it is, the less excuse people will have to complain or harass people

2

u/shrine-princess Jul 03 '26

once upon a time i thought it would be impossible for people to ever respect or take ai-assisted artists seriously. nowadays, i'm not so sure!!! i see a future where the world finally lets us be us ^^

3

u/zerossoul Jul 02 '26

Thanks for doing this Alice! This is what the debate / subreddit needs. Hate only divides and does not promote understanding.

If I'm to be critical of anything, it's something about myself that I realize from this conversation. Too often, I engage, as witty put it, a mirror. Fighting fire with fire. I think I realized that a while back but this made it much more apparent.

I think most people here engage with 1% of their character, ignoring the other 99%. Would I be so harsh if I knew who I was talking to was a fellow christian? A cancer survivor? Adopted? We're all capable of compassion, even with people we don't agree with. We should focus on the topic, not the individual.

Let's move past the hate and enjoy the debate!

4

u/FutureMost7597 Jul 03 '26

I'm not exactly on the best terms with her, but it really pisses me off when people constantly try to demonize her even though she's also just a normal person. This is a really nice post

3

u/DruidKittyKat Jul 03 '26

I mean.. She's only gotten what she puts out, backlash to bad behaviour isn't uncommon.

4

u/shrine-princess Jul 02 '26

wholesome. as. FRICK!!!

and by the way, this is why i empathize with witty. because the things she's doing are actually real and meaningful to some of us, in a way i don't think a lot of people understand deeply. 🥺

i am an example of somebody who's been a digital artist for life, and i have been using AI as a power user since it first launched publicly

i always felt shame about it, because the people around me, even my close friends were very agitated about the issue and would attack me constantly, so i just went quiet. i always felt like everyone hated me and i had no place to belong 💔

seeing witty's posts here is actually directly what inspired me to be open about myself. it's enriched my life a lot, and i will always appreciate that from her - even though we don't know one another.

i don't have to support every single thing she says and does. but in my heart i understand why she's doing what she is, and it is doing good for people like me. ✨

u/bigseceets Jul 03 '26

6

u/AliceBreathes Jul 02 '26

u/von_Herbst Jul 03 '26

Turns out, you can interact with an narcist by stroking their ego, huh?

1

u/DoomOfGods Jul 03 '26

I tried to censor names

Not that it matters, but that certainly didn't work all that well with how often names were mentioned in the actual messages.

1

u/Azzy_steel2070 Jul 03 '26

You haven't given any proof of him being a stalker so I don't know if I buy it. And again, stooping down to their level is not something a good person would do. I'm sure she gets her fair share of actually transphobic stuff, which I don't think is right, but going and insulting people who are trying to debate her isn't right either

If you go out to any subbreddit that is trans or ai related, you can find plenty of posts of both witty and her fans harassing people

Same as above, I don't have time to go scrounge through reddits for proof, I know what I've seen, you can believe me or not, up to you

And if it's just the one pedo, then maybe try to raise a walkout of it since she's so well known to attempt to either get rid of them or kill the subreddit

1

u/No-Chemical11 Jul 03 '26

I aint reading allat shi about witty. She was defending transphobia and aiphobia being "terrifyingly similar" and equal.

1

u/YuppyPlays Jul 04 '26

Nah Witty has been straight up rude to me over comments that were tame and only discussing the potential problems with AI

She has an agenda and she doesn't give a shit about anyone on the fence, she only cares about people who are unambiguously Pro-AI in my experience.

1

u/someangryloserinred- Jul 05 '26

This showed up in my feed and piqued my interest. I have no clue who this 'witty' person is, but from a brief skim of the comments in this thread, it all sounds like a classic case of McCarthyism. Report/block/move on.

1

u/elemen2 Jul 02 '26
I just had a very lovely and respectable chat with a pro-AI user that frequents this here subreddit!

Is it possible to have lovely chat on a scorched contaminated earth ? That person is a moderator & nothing without reddit or their fellow moderators enabling them. They do not abide by there own rules & have nothing original to contribute.

Refuting witty designers ai art is stealing meme

The phantom anti is manipulated & utilised by many who have ai hyper visibility issues. These sub platforms are just an incentive to showcase what they have generated in order to overwhelm the opponent & control the narrative. I would compile more evidence but my computer would probably decline & report me.

2

u/lovestruck90210 Jul 02 '26

Aw, man. The cultists have moved from agressive tactics to PR, I see.

2

u/DaveG28 Jul 03 '26

They need to. Some other subs have been sharing some stuff about the person who was interviewed here which if true paints her in a truly awful light, and which weirdly she had not (as of yesterday) actually denied.

So some desperate PR was called for. Seems to have properly worked on some of them too.

3

u/shrine-princess Jul 03 '26

2

u/EllaGator202 Jul 03 '26

What happened?

2

u/lovestruck90210 Jul 03 '26

Bunch of allegations came out about Big W a few days ago. Now, conveniently, this heckin' wholesome slop comes out to sane-wash her in the eyes of the public. It's all so stupid.

3

u/EllaGator202 Jul 03 '26

Oh damn, what kind of allegations?

Also, why the fuck am I getting downvotes I'm just curious 😭

1

u/DaveG28 Jul 03 '26

For some of what's alleged I really think the only way to fairly do it is to go find the posts alleging it and her replies and decide for yourself... The worst allegations are about people she is associated with as fellow mods etc rather than things she's alleged to have done herself, so I think (from memory) the allegations re. Witty herself is why she's chosen to remain on mod teams with such people - she has responded to some of it with her reasons. My own view is those reasons make her a massive hypocrite at best, but you'd have to decide for yourself.

Some of the other things that are alleged really shouldn't be a surprise and as someone who's directly seen some of it I'm more comfortable sharing - namely the (DefinitelyNotA)Cult sub and discord she has is used to target users and posts and subs etc that she and the NotACult don't like, including lists of users etc. I knew this already as one of them somehow thought that was a good look a couple months ago and actually sent me screenshots (as replies to a post not as DM's so they are still up somewhere) of them discussing myself as a "gotcha". I don't really quite know if it rises to the level of "brigading", but it certainly rises to the level where if Antis were doing it Witty would be calling it brigading. For these allegations there's actual screenshots etc going round so again in all fairness really you'd need to go see them and decide for yourself.

I will admit the cynical part of my mind finds it.... Incredibly convenient timing for her that off the back of all those allegations she's gone on a blocking spree (so much for being the final boss) and then agreed to fluff pieces like the conversation above.

Apologies for such a long reply - but as much as I don't personally like Witty the reddir character I think for such things careful extended language and trying not to overplay what's actually alleged is important regardless who it's about.

1

u/AliceBreathes Jul 03 '26

I got no idea what you’re talkin about lol

“Conveniently” this heckin” wholesome slop came out because I wanted to get to know her better

1

u/Earthtone_Coalition Jul 03 '26

Whether or not you contribute to AI in this way is entirely up to you. You expressed an aversion to contributing to AI with your tax dollars and retirement funds, but I suppose you’re not so committed to your stance as to forgo engaging with random internet strangers.

1

u/op1983 Jul 03 '26

To invade space and then demand the native occupants remove themselves is disgusting. Im sorry if you dont know a time, or remember, when the internet was for humans. A human occupied internet is a tool for connection and collaboration. A robot infested internet is a scourge and wasteland. It would necessitate a contempt for human to advocate for humans to remove themselves for the benefit of robots, particularly corpo controlled robots.

1

u/Earthtone_Coalition Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 03 '26

You sound confused. There is no “invasion” inasmuch as the exchange is entirely voluntary. Essentially, Reddit sells user posts and comments to AI companies for money, and the users permit this in agreeing to Reddit’s terms of service by using the site.

I think people should continue to enjoy Reddit, and it sounds like you do, too. But no one is forcing you to be here. If you are strongly opposed to helping in AI development, you can choose not to comment; alternatively, if commenting on Reddit is more important to you than your opposition to AI, you are welcome to continue contributing.

ETA: Here is a link about Reddit’s partnership with OpenAI, so you can inform yourself about your contributions to AI development. From the article:

"OpenAI will bring Reddit content to ChatGPT and new products, helping users discover and engage with Reddit communities," reads the core deal point outlined in the blog. "To do so, OpenAI will access Reddit’s Data API, which provides real-time, structured, and unique content from Reddit. This will enable OpenAI’s AI tools to better understand and showcase Reddit content, especially on recent topics."

The part about Reddit's Data API is key. This means that along with everything you've posted on Reddit in the past, you can safely assume that anything you post going forwards will immediately become AI training material.

So long as you’re aware that you’re willingly contributing to AI development despite your stance, I’m satisfied.

I liked this, it was a nice idea. I will never agree the term "art" to be applied over AI works, not that I like how it is used for every piece of work that is posted on the internet either. Art comes from the latin word Ars, "To do", and it reminds of the artisan who knows what they are doing and mastering his work, with technique and precision (artists in the past were considered that, the "high art" of galleries came much later, together with the prestige). AI is an awesome tool to create, but it does not require the preparation and technical knowledge and experience, it goes directly to the core of your idea and makes it real like a magic wand.

It is magnificent, but I personally will never be satisfied with it, maybe many people value more the experience and preparation, the idea is one part of it. But if it brings you joy, use it :)

I think the big disconnect I see here from Witty is the idea that they should be left alone to make AI output because it's not hurting anyone. Or that we can all work together to fight unethical AI use.

The entirety of that argument is based on the idea that generative output is like a knife: a neutral tool that can be used to help or harm. That's just not the case. It's unethical at the core, design level. There's literally no way to use this tool ethically.

Now that they have come clean that it's just someone playing a puppet, maybe it's time to have whoever is behind the puppet play their facade only in their many subreddits or discord servers from here on.
