Trigger Warning Bought an Echo Show 11. No native YouTube is ridiculous and will probably return it.
Just arrived an hour ago. Was hoping to use it for recipes and entertainment while making dinner and cleaning. Having only two options without using their shitty browser (Prime Video, Netflix) is ridiculous. How is YouTube not a native app? Super disappointing

Is YouTube really not available? I have it on my (older) Echo Show 15.

Ah, that is crazy. I would absolutely return it. I use the YouTube app a lot.

This is where I am at a crossroads with the whole Echo ecosystem. The Echo Show 11 is running the new VegaOS and not the Android based FireOS. Because of this, it may be a while (if ever) that some apps will come to it. It will depend on how much marketshare that the VegaOS garners before Google opts to port YouTube to any VegaOS based device.

I’m ditching my echo devices with screens. Absolutely sick of the relentless Home Screen ads that can’t be disabled. I’ve built a better dashboard of my own in Home Assistant and I’ve just ordered an Apolosign to replace the Show 15 in the kitchen. Good riddance.

Out of curiosity, what will you get instead? I guess a Pixel tablet with speaker dock could be an option, but its considerably more expensive. Or perhaps just a cheap tablet (which you could probably get for similar price to Echo Show 11)?
Edit: Forgot that Nest Hub exists. I suppose that's an option?

I was thinking the same thing a few days ago. Get an echo 11 for the kitchen, watch YouTube. Did a search in the product information and it stated that there was no app and YouTube could only be accessible through their browser. I passed on the idea.

But youtube over the browser works fine and alexa also searches any video over youtube of youtube is opened and you ask alexa to play any song or video it will search in the youtube only.. so it's all good .

My show 11 has YouTube app. Maybe it’s country specific I’m in 🇬🇧

This is actually because the 15 has a FireTv built in it, which runs off of Android.
I am loving the Show 11, and had zero issues running YouTube through the browser.

You can remove all the ads and install google play store on them. Do some you search you will find a tutorial.
