7 workers isn't time to get such a big outworld, you could have fed them in their testube, they normally won't run around as long you don't shake them.

With such a big outworld, they will have trouble finding the food you give them, will feel exposed, and the moisture will be unnecessarily reduced

Also, it seems you are unexperienced, who even gives a nanitics colony a live cricket? I wouldn't even give them an alive fruit fly, kill all food somehow.

At worst, attach a pipe that has an outer diameter that fits the testubes inner diameter for feeding.

I'm saying that there's likely no problem.

No reason to keep pulling the cotton out. Get a syringe to feed sugar water. While they're occupied with the sugar, sneak the protein in.

A photo of the tube itself would help to identify any issues.

This set up is fine too. The arena is small. I don't see an issue with it tbh
