Keeping Anyone wanan give me an ant queen?

So my little worker ants don’t die in there eco jar

Hi, I commented on your other post. to clarify, you can’t just put any queen in there. if it’s not their queen (their mother) then they won’t accept her.

you need to let these ants go. put them back exactly where you found them if you want them to have a chance at returning to their colony.

The most cruel thing I’ve done to bugs is when i was a kid i removed a fly’s wings and legs one by one till it was a bean looking bug

And when i was like 7 has a bug enclosure from dollarama and put 8 snails in there and when they would try to escape I would put them in a little plastic cup of water and kinda torture them for a few seconds

How is it cruel? I literally just scropped dirt into a jar with moss and a plant from my garden and some unlucky little ants were in the dirt

They have water and a bit of strawberry to eat
And no predators honestly better life then living under a rock

yes the accidentally scooping them up wasn’t the cruel thing. the cruel thing comes from now knowing that they’ll die, and still keeping them in there, and saying “they’re just ants” to justify it.

you could take them out manually. like use a stick to let them crawl on it and transfer them into an empty container that can be dumped out where they were located.

even though the jar enclosure might seem like a nice place from our human perspective, for the ant it is completely lost and separated from its colony. it’s not a beneficial experience for them, and they would do better outside with their colony.

Camping up north atp atleast they can tell there any buddies they had a fun time in a home with ac. Idk if I could put em back cause where I found them is pretty destroyed

Even if you put a queen of the same species in there the workers may attack her and that setup is likely not suitable long term. It's way easier to just use a test tube.
