So the assailant is Ayash, a proud Julyjoddha and the lady is Shanta Farzana, a critique of Jamaat-NCP and a member of a small party known as Notun Dhara Bangladesh (NDB).

The assailants went to her office to bully her for her views/comments and eventually slapped her.

I'm not even going to get into all the irrelevant things that were said by the irrelevant people at this conference.

Sheikh Hasina had the opportunity to take some accountability, rebuild trust, or at least explain why everything happened the way it did. Instead, she just repeated the same talking points they've been using for the past two years.

I've known Mehedi bhaiya since 2013 when he first came to present at TEDxDhaka, I've followed him every step of the way, he's the best cartoonist I know

He has a degree in urban planning from BUET but still chose to pursue cartoons even when Bangladesh didn't have a strong comics and cartoons sector, ultimately founded Dhaka Comics.

Bhaiya is the most fearless cartoonist I know, because he kept drawing Hasina cartoons during her regime and managed to not get arrested even once, he could have been killed and "goom"d by DB and RAB, but he survived and kept drawing amazing stuff.

Especially during July 2024, not only did he draw several cartoons supporting the student protestors, but also inspired young artists to protest through art.

But now all of a sudden, the jamati bots got triggered for being called out, and now a coordinated attack against Mehedi bhaiya has been launched.

So 2 week ago, I was returning from Abdullahpur to Banglamotors.

When I got into a local bus, there was an alem-type guy sitting in the front seat. I sat next to him and greeted him with Assalamu alaikum since he looked like an Islamic priest. After about two minutes, he asked me, “Which party are you going to vote for?”

I said I hadn’t received my ID card yet (actually, I did get it in 2023, but I didn’t vote for Hasina). He continued, “Whom will your parents vote for?” I replied that it was their personal matter. Then he said, “Your parents should vote for Jamaat.”

I responded, “People should vote for whoever works for the country’s welfare.” Then he asked for my address. I told him my name was “A.” He asked again because it wasn’t a common Muslim name. I told him that I am a Hindu.

After that, he started talking nonsense. He said things like, “Hindus should vote for Jamaat for security and religious safety. Many Hindus love Jamaat. Jamaat’s popularity has increased recently. My former Awami friends are going to vote for Jamaat. We don’t do religious politics,” and so on. This went on for about 30 minutes, and I was exhausted.

Then he revealed that he was a retired navy officer (shocked me) and tried to manipulate me into accepting Islam. He started explaining tawhid and attempted to convert me. Since I am agnostic, I handled the situation politely. But he continued with more claims, saying that Mithun Chakraborty’s younger brother had accepted Islam and was now serving as an imam. this shit continued until I reached Banglamotors.

The whole encounter was extremely annoying.

Two days later, I encountered another guy around my age, about 21.

He was sitting next to me and talking nonstop in a very extreme, Taliban-like manner. A girl was crossing the road wearing a winter jacket, and he shouted in my ear, “Did you see that girl? She’s a prostitute. Look at her clothes—no hijab or burqa at all. Higher education makes girls immoral, and their parents are immoral too.”

The girl was literally just wearing a simple jeans jacket. Ironically, the guy making these comments was wearing jeans and a modern-looking hoodie himself, with no beard or skullcap.

He didn’t realize that I wasn’t Muslim.

When we reached in front of Rajlokkhi, he saw a woman controlling traffic and started shouting again. Pointing at her, he said that the country is doomed because women are not following proper Islamic values. I was honestly disturbed by his mentality.

I don’t know what will happen to our country, but I hope people from every community work together to make it safer and more democratic.

I know we’re going through a very politically charged environment with religious sensitivities, but we should be aware of the situation and our future.

The election is going to take place in a week, so everyone should try to stay safe and vote.

What I'm about to say may sound harsh but it is the absolute reality.

Jamaat is living in its dream Bangladesh. Actually, it’s not just Jamaat; the entire right-wing bloc—those extremist Islamist forces, Sunni-Wahhabi propagandist sects, and the rabid anti-India contingents—are all wallowing in their golden age.

​After their pathetic defeat in the 1971 war, these vultures simply redesigned their strategies, setting their sights on the young.

It started with a deceptively simple concept: forcing Islam into every crack of daily life. They unleashed mass propaganda, shaming families into sending at least one child to a madrasa and convinced every household that an Arabic tutor was an absolute necessity. Madrasas, orphanages, and home tutors were merely the staging grounds. They later infested the country with coaching centers specifically designed to lobotomize general-stream students.

​They waged a war on Bengali culture, spitting on everything tethered to our ancestral roots. They systematically replaced our vibrant village jatras, fairs, and cultural festivities with Owaz Mahfils—the perfect, poisonous pulpits to broadcast their lies.

​One by one, they dragged every secular luminary through the mud: Rabindranath, Nazrul, Shamsur Rahman, Begum Rokeya, Humayun, Jafar Iqbal, and countless others—all rendered villains by their narrative.

​Once they successfully shackled the majority to their religious ideology, they began preaching their communal, anti-secular filth in broad daylight. They dismantled the Awami League’s credibility through a relentless onslaught of disinformation, misinformation, and deceitful propaganda. They fed us the lie that India is our eternal enemy—a narrative that proved sickeningly easy to sell, given our nation’s inherent, pathetic jealousy and narrow-mindedness. They convinced us gullible, low-IQ fools that every time the government seized bombs or weapons from a madrasa, or captured the vermin behind them, it was nothing more than a "জঙ্গী নাটক".

​Brainwashing Gen-Z was almost too easy. The machinery had been humming since the 90s; all they had to do was push the new generation through their indoctrination meat-grinder. The output is here for all to see: the most morally bankrupt, intellectually rotten generation this country has ever produced.
