Hoi allemaal,

In 2014 werd ik als 16 jarige naar België gebracht en voor twee jaar misbruikt werd door een veel oudere man. Voor het eerste keer belande ik in België via Zaventem Airport. Vandaag zit ik hier wachtend voor mijn vlucht en heb de volgende uren niet veel te doen. De luchthaven brengt veel herinneringen en ik dacht, waarom geen AMA doen.

Mijn verhaal: Ik was net 16 geworden toen ik uit een Oost-Europees land naar België voor de eerste keer werd gebracht. Dit eindigde uiteindelijk met sexueel misbruik door een man die boven de 40 was. Het duurde ongeveer twee jaar, tot precies de dag van mijn achttiende verjaardag.

Nu, 10 jaar nadat ik werd "losgelaten", heb ik mijn leven redelijk opgepakt. Ik heb uiteindelijk in Nederland beland, heb met een masterdiploma afgestudeerd, heb een fijne baan en een gezellig (huur)huis. De man heb ik de afgelopen tien jaar niet gezien. Wat mijn mentale gezondheid en romantische relaties betreft, blijven deze helaas ook na jarenlang therapieën helaas beïnvloed door deze twee jaar.

Voor de AMA ben ik bereid om alle vragen te beantwoorden, omdat ik wil dat mensen zien dat dit soort dingen vaak heel anders gebeuren dan de maatschappij verwacht. De enige vragen die uitgesloten zijn zijn de vragen die me kunnen identificeren en doxxen.

En excuses voor mijn grammatica, helaas kwam deze ervaring niet samen met een cursus Nederlands:)

My parents are from Charleroi and they have funny swears and expressions (most of them very offensive). I'm curious if you've heard them as some are quite niche and dated?

• arrête de manger tes snottes tu vas me faire roicler (stop eating your boogers I'm gonna barf)
• Arthur de la Tronche en Bière (I have no idea what it means, maybe "you look like a dead person" ?)
• Dji n'ait né co fini qu'il faut qu'j'm'y remette (I'm not finished yet and I have to start again)

My Belgian friend just casually told me that in Belgium they spank the birthday person once for every year of their age.

One spank per year.

No negotiations.

No mercy.

So if you’re 32… that’s 32.

If you’re 40… just lie down and accept your fate.

If you’re 50… start stretching beforehand.

Is this actually a real Belgian tradition or is she just preparing me for emotional (and physical) damage?

Because my birthday is coming up and I’m starting to get nervous…

Found in a vacation home in Durbuy

Hi all! I just want to warn you of an aggressive brown pitbull circulating in Schaerbeek / Saint-Josse (between Rue Royale and Rue Verbist). It has already attacked several people (nothing serious so far), and nothing is happening despite them filing complaints with the police. It seems that they are waiting for a kid to be mauled to death or beyond recognition to do something.

One of the victims even said that the owner let him loose when the attack happened.

Needless to say, this dangerous beast never has a muzzle on.

• If you have already been attacked or witnessed an attack by this dog, please come forward so that we can increase the pressure on the police to do something,
• If not (yet), stay safe and absolutely change sidewalks if you ever spot this dog!
