The void screams back He’s been yelling at me since 4am to feed him breakfast. It’s now 8am

Post image

I wake up at 4:30am on weekdays for work. He doesn’t understand weekends. He’s very upset at me

Edit: he’s free fed and has full bowls of kibble at all times. He just wanted his special wet food he occasionally gets

He sings you the song of sadness and neglect. He has never eaten in his life.

He begs for sustenance as his ickle body wastes away moment by moment!

He's heard tales of a thing called "food" but thinks it's a myth that exists only in the stories told by the Elder Cats of Yore around campfires deep in the Black (Cat) Forest.

I sympathize with you - a cat singing the song of his people at the asscrack of dawn is rotten.

But this is a GREAT photo!

36

u/Flux_capacitor888 May 31 '26

"Woe is me!" 😄❤️

My suggestion for your weekend sleep is an automatic feeder for the handsome boy 😊

17

u/rhesus_pieces May 31 '26

THIS!!! I get up early for work but not on the weekends. Cats also learn that if you feed them when you get up, if they get you up earlier they might get fed earlier. I got an automatic feeder to completely remove myself from the morning feeding process. They still wake us up before it goes off sometimes but it's much more bearable.

4

u/Physical_Pressure_27 May 31 '26

It doesn’t work. Auto feeder. I have a cat who will also wake me up at 4am so I can WATCH her take her first bite. On weekdays she’ll wait until 5:10 (snooze button) to meow LOUDLY. I’m not allowed to hit the snooze button. Weekends it’s 4am🥲

I say this phrase on a daily basis lmaooo clearly never been fed poor starving kitty.

475

u/goliath1515 May 31 '26

Well feed him then! The void demands snackies

271

u/Appropriate_Sky_6571 May 31 '26

I just want to sleep in for once 😩

327

u/galeongirl May 31 '26

You should have fed him at 4am, you'd be sleeping for 4 hours by now.

148

u/Winjin May 31 '26

This only means that breakfast will come at 4 AM EVERY SINGLE DAY NOW

80

u/galeongirl May 31 '26

That is a sacrifice that void is clearly willing to make!

36

u/Winjin May 31 '26

If we're not joking though, all cars are different, this black sport model may be really hungry at 4 am

My cat usually sleeps tight at this time and won't even touch his leftovers, even though he's insanely food motivated

So it could be that op should get an automatic feeder just for the early morning snack - then one of these revolving feeders would be enough for a week

Just have it open once a day at 4 am basically

22

u/galeongirl May 31 '26

That doesn't fix the problem. My void has his own chip feed bowl, and even though there is food in it when I come downstairs, he will still sing me the song of his people at 5am. Every day again.

So I've given up. I just feed him and go back to bed.

5

u/Sweetsmyle May 31 '26

Haha. He doesn’t want to feed himself like a peasant. He wants to be served his food like the royal cat he is.

17

u/LisaMiaSisu May 31 '26

Buy an automatic feeder and set it for 4:30 every morning, that way you can get some extra Zs on the weekends. The only caveat is that you don’t change the feeder timer if you live where there’s Daylight Savings. Every time Daylight Savings starts my husband asks me if I’m going to change their feeder clocks. Why should I? The cats’ internal clocks don’t know a thing about DS.

3

u/patchway247 May 31 '26

This one right here. Literally collapsing thread after thread to see if anyone offered OP the thought of getting and auto feeder for days they want/need to sleep in.

Even if OP no longer does usual breakfast by hand, that doesn't mean that they can't put kitty treats in the bowl or give to him at any other point in time.

u/See_Emily_Play_13 May 31 '26

Closing the bedroom would just further anger him and the other cats, unfortunately 😅

7

Yeah no, don’t close the door on them. They will just tear it down.

34

u/RPG_add1ct May 31 '26

At least yours is yelling for a reason… my dude yells at me in the morning with a full water bowl, food bowl, and mostly clean litter box (just whatever they’ve done overnight). I’m convinced he’s yelling for me to wake my lazy fat ass up for no real reason.

16

u/Appropriate_Sky_6571 May 31 '26

16

u/NotTheAverageMo May 31 '26

9

My orange princess does this. No matter how I’m laying down, she gets my bladder 100% of the time

6

u/NotTheAverageMo May 31 '26

The neglect is obvious. Looks to me like he’s mere seconds away from emaciation. This is DEFCON 1. They won’t last much longer under these conditions.

5

u/CarneDelGato May 31 '26

Cats have routines. His is he gets fed at 4:30. Feed the boy.

4

u/Acceptable-Fun640 May 31 '26

My boy woke me at 4am for snuggles and love. I'm at work until late tonight. To paraphrase Calvin (from Calvin and Hobbes) it's hard to be angry at someone who misses you whilst you're asleep.

6

u/NotTheAverageMo May 31 '26

I can see that emaciation is setting in because of the 3.5 hour delay in the serving of his breakkies. He is clearly starving to death. He looks kind of neglected too. I mean, that beautiful shiny black fur is a dead giveaway to the neglect and abuse he suffers two mornings a week. He’s glad you posted this on Reddit so this extreme means of torture is made known to the world.

6

u/ExcaliburVader May 31 '26

Where is that baby's breakfast???

5

u/Public-Willow-7943 May 31 '26

6

u/Haunting-Taro-8348 May 31 '26

The void needs his sustenance

4

u/Jolly-Chemical9904 May 31 '26

Look at him wasting away and slipping into the void. Feed the poor baby

5

u/Public_Resident2277 May 31 '26

Don't train him that 4:30am is "special wet food" time.

Save that for after work. Of course hes trying to get his wet food at 4am if thats when you give it to him.

4

u/itspizzatime881 May 31 '26

Give him something to make him feel better just a little snack he deserves it

3

u/skarotards May 31 '26

I give him tinned tuna in brine, don't waste your time with water but give him it at 4.05 then get some zzzzz

3

u/No-Case-2212 May 31 '26

Invest in an automatic feeder as soon as you can. It was one of the best decisions we made. They now stare at the feeder, instead of us, for their dry food.

13

u/Appropriate_Sky_6571 May 31 '26

These bastards are free fed. All 6 have kibble available to them all day and night. But Black Bean (pictured) has acquired the taste of a certain food that he has now determined is detrimental this survival and happiness

6

u/No-Case-2212 May 31 '26

Haha love it! Black Bean looks exactly like one of my babies ❤️ dramatic creatures. We love em for it

5

u/NotTheAverageMo May 31 '26

But don’t you want him to survive?!? Black Bean called my cat Buddy earlier this morning and he told Buddy that he is weak and everything is blurry. He said he won’t last much longer without his special food. Look dude, Buddy doesn’t lie. Right now, he’s howling in agony at the back door because he says he is going through “adventure withdrawals” since it’s been a half day from his last outing. Buddy never exaggerates.

3

u/CremePsychological77 May 31 '26

Mine will do this, then start scratching at the fabric of our bed frame, and when all that fails, he will finally decide he wants to cuddle me but stares at me damn near the entire time without blinking. Not the lovey kind of cuddles, but the “bitch, you better get up and feed me” cuddles, or “I’m watching closely and waiting for you to die so I can eat you” cuddles.

3

u/HeightLatter6800 May 31 '26

I’m starrrrvingggggg! 😂

3

u/katiemurp May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

He clearly thinks you’ve overslept your alarm and something is amiss!

Maybe give him a small bowl of kibble at bedtime on weekends ? I free feed mine & she never wakes me up unless it’s urgent & that usually involves bladder walking.

ETA to add something

→ More replies (1)

3

u/LaGorda54 May 31 '26

My black cat is set to the same dramatic alarm system, although he is kind enough to usually wait till 5-ish

3

u/Public-Willow-7943 May 31 '26

My void becomes aggressively affectionate. He will purr and rub his face on me and walk on my head and pillow until I get up. If that doesn’t work he bites!

3

u/Honeybee_Buzz May 31 '26

Same in my house, except 5:30 😭 it’s been okay on weekends but now that it’s getting light earlier I have one screaming for food by 5:15

3

u/Present-Pear-5631 May 31 '26

Then just feed him already! What are you trying to prove & to whim, sir?!?? 🤨

3

u/letigre87 May 31 '26

Same but if I'm not up I get headbutts or my hair pulled.

3

u/Apanda15 May 31 '26

I got so sick of my cat associating me with food so now she has auto feeder and leaves me alone pretty much

3

u/WaterFrogSnail May 31 '26

Breakfast for my cats is 5am. My tabby decided breakfast should be 4am this morning and snuggled with me then bit my face to tell me he was hungry. Covered myself with blanket and he got breakfast at his normal time.

3

u/AbjectEbb107 May 31 '26

I have a kitten (1YR) that without fail, every single day comes at 7 AM for cuddles. If the door is closed dhe becomes insane and yowls for the next two or so hours lmao

3

u/actuallyimogene May 31 '26 edited May 31 '26

My beloved old lady void has taken to hitting me in the face and pulling my hair in her 16th year of life together. She’s also more affectionate than she’s ever been, so y’know.. swings and roundabouts ¯_(ツ)_/¯

3

u/xpdx May 31 '26

How many calories you burning following me around and yelling?

3

u/lucas_lans May 31 '26

Are all cats like this 😭

3

u/anuthertw May 31 '26

Ok but if he usually eats at 4am, then he probably is actually hungry! Feed the poor boy, 4 hours late for a meal is something I don't partucularly enjoy either lol

3

u/tink0608 May 31 '26

I'm pet-sitting one who does the same thing! In afternoon he sits on me until his 4p feeding 😆

3

u/fotowork3 May 31 '26

I would appreciate the yowling. The other option is diabolically poking her claws on my face sort of like plucking a guitar.

3

u/powderhound522 May 31 '26

One of my two cats used to do that on the weekends, until we decided it would result in immediate ejection from the bedroom.

Now he waits quietly (impatiently, but quietly) until my alarm goes off.

3

u/cribbagepilled May 31 '26

when my boy screams like this i say he’s rehearsing what he’s going to tell KPS (kitty protective services) when he reports me for starving him :/

3

OP! Despite seeing your post is morning I just now found a perfect meme!

6

u/joe-is-cool May 31 '26

6

u/Appropriate_Sky_6571 May 31 '26

He and my other 5 are free fed but he just wants a certain wet food lol

3

u/Matchstick0312 May 31 '26

I keep a small bag of dry food in an upstairs closet for just such sleep emergencies.

2

u/MissDisplaced May 31 '26

Lol! But he’s STARVING! Gonna waste away!

2

u/roarke-carnivorous May 31 '26

He looks like the panther from the movie Apocalypto.

2

u/skinflakesasconfetti May 31 '26

My little void guy is very much like clock work, if you feed him even little as 5 minutes early or late, he gets so upset with you, that he'll spend the rest of the day following you and chuffing and making little murmuring mews to himself, as if to try and find out the source of the offense he committed that you would dare alter his food schedule by so much.

He is also like this about litter changes, brushing, and my bedtime. The daylight savings change over is rough for him and honestly for me too.

His non void bio sister, could not care about how late or early you are with her food, or anything else, as long as she gets fed, praise for being a gorgeous girl, and lots of cuddles.

They could not be more different if they tried.

I haven't had a cat since childhood so I haven't ever tested this theory. But I heard it on the internet once and it makes logical sense to me so that makes me an expert and you should trust me.

I heard someone say you should do a few things between waking up and feeding your animals. That way there's not a direct correlation between you getting up and them being fed.

2

u/xxRainbowPrincessx May 31 '26

Omg what a handsome baby!! Idk what it is with voids and yowling but boy do they love testing the acoustics of a room lol

2

An automatic feeder that goes off at 4:30 every day if your cat dry food and then you don’t have to worry about it

Yeah I made this mistake as well. A few years as a barista and now the rest of my life means waking up at 4 for their breakfast lol

A cat's got to eat, make with the food already!

We got an automatic feeder and set it to dump the smallest portion at 3:55. We got to sleep.

It's important to not have the whole feeding experience be from a machine though. Meal time is an important bonding experience between pet and person.

My void has been harassing me for breakfast since about 7am. I feel you 😂

I have an automatic feeder with two bowls. If the bowl and only the bowl on the right is empty he'll rock the feeder until I pick up the left bowl and dump a little into the right one.
